It's a moot point unless the Nationals go back to a 2 day format and start doing qualifying races. In any case, while I get that the FIM is trying to incentivise riders to actually try in the qualifying races I'm not on board with the championship being decided on qualifying race points.

Well, a decent sized chunk of the fastest riders in the world are over 30 now, so is +25 really a Vet class? Seems like the next age class after Collegeboy to me. +30 is more of a true Vet class, but there are some super fast dudes out there that never scored points. As a 35 year old dude who races +25 and +30 after taking 15 years off racing to get my career/life in order, it doesn't bother me at all the credentials of the guys that show up. If they're better, they're better.

Last year there were only 500 riders who made an appearance in sx/mx qualifying. The lowest since at least 2009 (I don't have pre MX timed qualifying era qualifying in my database yet) other than the Covid year in 2020.

What really helps is remembering I'm racing a 30 year old vet class at a local series and not one person including your family or friends have any idea what class or race you're even racing and you can just tell them you won and they wont know where to even find the results.

There definitely is some truth to that. If I felt that I have even come close to my skill ceiling I would have stepped away from racing by now. This coming year is my last year racing unless I do well enough to get picked up by a team that is able to pay for legitimately everything for me to race. I do believe I am good enough to do that. So I’m putting everything I possibly can into this year to make that either happen or walk away knowing I gave it everything I could to make it happen...

Can we let the super fast B kids race the pro class locally? I understand the stepping stone at the national races, but in futures/smx next and combines they race together anyway. Might as well let them race A/pro locally without bumping them. Would get bigger pro gates at local races. Promoters get bigger gates for the fast class, and little johnny B class ripper gets to win some dinner money.
