Rv2 should retire. He's done. He's a danger to all the other riders on the track. All he does is ride over his head ans then he wrecks. He must not know how to set up a bike. What a loser. He should retire... All these years of hitting his head he has to have brain damage that has slowed his reaction. He needs to retire so he doesn't kill someone on the track.... Oh wait did I say villopoto? Oh no I Di'int. Ha

But damn did TC41 and DM18 look good or what? I think DM18 has been highly under estimated...

I was thrilled at the race results. So happy for DM18 and TC41. I didn't know who to root for more. However, did you notice how under the radar Dungey and Reed wound up. Just what you'd expect from those two. They are going to be in the thick of it in the final rounds. I was suprised that Stewart used his head enough to just collect points. Showed maturity that I've not seen from him in a while. Barcia did what I kind of expected, being near the front, but juuuuuust not quite being able to keep it together for the full 20. We've seen Villipoto do this before, it might happen one more time this season, but I'd bet he'll gather back those lost points by seasons end. The really big question now is how will round 2 unfold. I could seriously see a complete flip from this weekend. After all, it always seems to take to round 4 or 5 before things start to smooth out and the cream settles to the top. Time will tell.

I remember Ricky once saying when he raced, that a lot of his competitors think they train hard but in reality they don't. I must admit I thought Davi a good rider, a top 5 guy in a full field of the biggest names (occasionally top 3) but no more than that. I'm glad to see how mistaken I was. He didn't luck into anything last night - it was a hard long battle and he earned it.

He's got 4 now.

Millsaps, hands down.

Everybody is bound to have a bad race with some crashes, even RV. He's gone out of 2 series with injuries. While extrememly fast, he hasn't shown to be immune to taking a digger.

Millsaps rode awesome. But, the chances of all major title contenders (JS, RV, Reed & Dungey having a spill) having off nights is far more implausible than just one of them (RV). The stars alligned for Millsaps last night, hopefully he can keep it going.

The largest surprise for me was RV's fast lap time in the main. He wasn't even in the 55's at all like DM, Trey, Dungey and Barcia. Everybody has a race like that occasionally, I just didn't expect his to be that bad. He had a joey moment at Daytona last year, but that was just one wreck, not 3. Reed finished about where I expected him to.

It seems that the days of guys like Stewart or RV starting dead last, then winning the race by 10+ seconds are for the most part over. Hope TC and Milsaps bring their A game for the rest of the series, as that single race was better than all of the 2012 season.

More shocking------ James putting in a good solid ride while in less than perfect form and coming away with some decent points and able to continue on with the season. Good for him.

Are you serious? The guy is the 2 time defending supercross champion. I remember a guy they refer to as the GOAT use to throw away the odd race too and everyone said he retired too soon.

And it was awesome to see Davi lead 15 laps regroup and pass Canard. As soon as Canard passed Millsaps I was like game over and I think most of the crowd was thinking the same thing. Angels Stadium went absolutely nuts when Davi charged back. It was cool to see.

Have to agree w/ that; didn't take any chances in his heat race, got a good starting position and did well enough in the main to keep him in the thick of things down the road. Villopoto's 16th was a big suprise...didn't expect him to crashout like that. Not very charatcheristic of Villopoto to do something like that, especially early on in the season.

"More shocking---- Milsaps last lap pass or Villopoto 16th?"

Villopoto getting 16th was much more shocking. When he's riding to his potential he can spot the entire field a lap and still finish top 10.....and then when you think about the fact that DM18 finished out last season in second; for him to start off the season with a win isn't as shocking as RV2 getting 16th.

He lost 40 lbs., not 80. and that was last season.

He would have to chop off a body part to lose 80

Man, it looked like he was a bit disappointed he didn't get the W. Insane to see that in a mans eyes after all he's been through, but it leads me to believe that he'll win a couple this year simply because of his will.

Both were surprising, but what rocked me was how Canard and Millsaps walked around Stewart like he was just another guy. Maybe Stew took it easy with the idea that finishing is better than going for it and crashing. Not sure why he kept the pace he did. But, I find it difficult to believe that's his fastest.

I'd have to say more shocking was RV1's 16th place finish.

Aside from a crash that takes you out, a multi champ that looked like an alien during the heat race, has to salvage something better for the final points.

With Stewart tweaked and RV rattled, the rest of the sharks smell opportunity and feel confidence, the least of which is Davi. Old enough to know how to do this and healthy enough to make it happen. That last lap pass says volumes...very deep class this year, should be a lot of fun to watch.

Villo didn't qualify at Dodger stadium last year and still came out ahead. This kind of disaster is better to have early than late.

Hey if anyone cares I interviewed Davi on Thursday. Pretty interesting what he had to say.

Great interview Brad, as Davey pointed out, this whole privateer/factory talk is getting old. DM has always been a top talent and the guy is still young. He seems to be in a good place right now with his career and attitude and I believe the guy will be running up front more often then in the past. Congrats to the guy, that last lap pass he put on TC was something to build on. Congrats to TC too, amazing comeback and he has returned for real. Now as far as RV finishing 16th, the guy spazzed out in my opinion.

I don't think either was shocking. Davi certainly has the speed to win a race (especially when the favorites were all suffering from poor starts,) and anyone can have a bad race (RV.)

I think Villopoto will rebound immediately and Davi may even win again.

18's' win didn't look like some mudder fluke from where I was sitting ... I won't be suprised if he wins again this year..

You're way off. Here's a press photo of him at the end of the nats last year.

Thanks a lot! Yeah honestly I over heard Davi say to someone that he was leaving the press conference early because "no one want's to talk to me anyway." I was like what? I do haha. So I ran after him and caught him in the parking lot so it was pretty run and gun.

Crashes are bound to happen to every rider. Winning a race, after 2 years of not winning, while ALL the top dogs are in has to be the most unexpected and unforseen performance for quite some time.

They announced the "Progressive Pass of the race" 2 laps too soon, because the pass DM18 put on TC41 was perfect and by-far the best !!
1/7/2013 6:19am
Am i the only one that thinks the 'progressive pass of the race' is annoying? I mean it's good to see a replay but when it interfears with the live race it becomes a pain in the butt to me. Have a wrap up at the end of the race, after the podiums, and show those replays then. Some highlight after the race thing would be better. Or an after the race show with guests benchracing about the event, exchanging toughts about the sport and the riders. You see these kind of programs about ballsports all the time.
