If it was so much of a euro track why isn’t on flat ground inside a road course? Dilla is an American track!!

Hardpack and rocky with a decent amount of natural elevation gain/loss

Because it was given to us after the revolutionary war for independence. It symbolizes the American grit and determination the rest of the world appreciates. God loves Unadilla too.

When moto started In Europe years ago it was all natural terrain. They didn’t build sky shot jumps, whoops and banked turns. They just laid out the track on open hills and the riders made the track into the gnarliness that it was...not the track builders; similar to Dilla.

The OP makes me a little sad. “On flat ground inside a road course.” It appears Giuseppe is ruining the GP”s reputation with the new generation...that and the newbies don’t give a shit about history; maybe a little of both.

Anyone who thinks MXGP tracks are just flat man-made things should google "Namur GP" on YouTube.

I think Unadilla has been a good track for foreign riders, especially the French, because it has some elevation and off-camber sections that the US kids don't grow up racing as much. High Point is similar, and European riders tend to do well there too.

Yeah you're completely right, Europeans invented off-chamber turns and the US is completely devoid of them. Also, can't wait for the MXGP circuit to race at Namur next year, definitely on my bucket list of races to attend

ohhhhhh the irony !!!!!! I was lucky enough to attend Namur in 2006 when studying abroad in college.. 1000% was a bucket list race... Really a shame they no longer race there - just as much as a shame that a "fan of the sport" like yourself would talk so disgracefully about THE most iconic track in the history of motocross. Challenge that statement bro.

Please indicate where I said anything disgraceful about Namur. My point was that Namur hasn't been on the circuit in more than a decade but ham wanted to use it as an example of what an MXGP track is.

That would be like me saying if you want to see what an American National track looks like, go look at Gatorback or Carlsbad.

“Why does people...” not know the English language?

But to your question, the Unadilla of decades ago had a similar look to the Euro tracks of the day vs. the dry, hard pack tracks such as Carlsbad. Just my guess.

I love slot car racing!!! Top track is a flat track more popular in europe. Bottom track is a blue king the most famous banked track more popular in USA. Even slot racing is different in different parts of the world just like everything else.

I guess you have never ridden a single MX track on the east coast then? Stop thinking the US is all like the California Highway moon dirt tracks you see on YouTube....

I’ve said it a million times now. ‘Dilla was once an incredibly sweet layout, but the jumps, slot car racing, and removal of a few key sections really took away from it.

I watch plenty of Euro races from the 80’s/90’s/2000’s on YouTube. Motocross should be on natural terrain with a few jumps. Namur was legendary. We have went from a guy hitting a deer on the track at MxofN to it being on a road course. Totally wrong direction. At least the AMA series isn’t having races on manmade courses inside a road course.

Thanks for the awesomeness before bedtime, I greatly appreciate it. No sound, slow motion American moto on 500s, and as Lee Greenwood would say, God Bless the U.S.A!

Sometimes people tend to forget the past with the hustle bustle of modern day society, but without history we are nothing.

Amen. Never watched that video before, but to be honest, that is exactly the way Moto looked when I was just a little guy starting out on an Italjet at age 4. Local races where I cut my teeth were shoddy, lucky to see a banner around advertising anything. If you were lucky there was some snow fence....... But there was ALWAYS Old Glory waving in the breeze that we saluted before the start of Motos on Sunday. Folks were around with their charcoal grills belching smoke, coolers full of American beer with peel-tops, Gatorade in glass bottles, and a wave of premix fumes that mixed with the air of a perfect Sunday afternoon, life was good for all. Pure innocence, no worries for the day, just friends and family out on a field somewhere in Americaville enjoying a Sunday in the dirt, sitting on an old tree stump, or sitting on an old foldable aluminum lawn chair with decorative nylon webbing to support your ass. When the day was done, the family unit all crammed into a van, usually decked out with Cragar wheels and lake pipes, and headed towards the house.....planning the next weeks trip with an Atlas, and Holiday Inn guide to find where we all get to sleep. God my parents worked hard for us, and smiled spending countless 100 dollar bills all in the name of a family being happy, and together. I grew up with this fun 40-45 weekends every year with all of us together, long before the Loretta's gig was even reality..... I know a fair amount of our history, both Moto, and our Nation.....so thankful I've been lucky to see it, and live it. God bless American Moto, God Bless the USA!
