I mentioned being a lawyer because precision in language is part of my job and despite that, RC doesn’t bother me. That point seems to have been missed, which makes your response more of a reading comprehension failure than a disagreement. Imagine thinking “I’m trained to nitpick language and this doesn’t bother me” is a superiority play. Quite the opposite. That says more about you and those who downvoted me than the actual comment. Finally, RC is in the booth for the same reason plenty of former NBA and NFL players are: relatability and credibility... and not eloquence. Broadcasts are...

I don’t understand why everyone dogs RC, my advice to those people hating on RC; just watch the race

He is a former champion who adds color and texture, with Jason Weigandt as the professional announcer. Duh. Same with ALL the other former riders who do it. David Bailey, David Pingree, Grant Langston, James Stewart, and many more. None were professional sports announcers. None were ever SUPPOSED to be professional sports announcers, nor does anyone who understands their role expect them to be. Pingree once said in the middle of an outdoor race broadcast, "It's one of those mysteries of life like why the Roman Empire fell, or why asparagus makes your pee smell funny." I laughed for 5...

Exactly. I love listening to him and chuckling a bit when he throws a "Rickky Bobby" out there. So weird that so many here can't just let it go and get butthurt that the greatest rider of all time somehow isn't a PROFESSIONAL MOTORSPORTS ANNOUNCER! 😄

Exactly. These “shit on RC” threads have to be mostly be generational. Hard enough seeing your heroes get “old”. I couldn’t tell you anything that is said because I am living vicariously through the guys on the bikes for three hours (~6-7 hours) every Saturday.

Best advice I ever got I was 13 years old and my friends family took me out to jawbone canyon, I hopped on my bike ASAP and my friend's dad pulled me off the bike and told me that what he was about to tell me was super important and I need to pay attention. "never ride over a hill in the desert if you don't know what's on the other side!!" About an hour later I'm full throttle up a hill and I remember what he told me so I slowed to a stop, about 10 yard on the...

Gosh damn. No matter how many times I rewatch the 2006 season, it still leaves me jaw-dropped. What those two were doing feels impossible, to this day.

I was at Southwick 07, RC's last year. Him and James were going at it. They were running the track in the opposite direction that year. While leading James took the inside of a sweeping left hand turn and RC passed James taking the much rougher outside. RC's bike was swapping side to side wide open popping on the rev limiter! It was insane! One of those moments you don't forget.

Went down the rabbit hole watching 20 (wtf!) year old racing tonight in the garage. I respect anyone who has ever raced Professionally on a dirtbike, any time period… all the eras, all the pros, there’s been just so many amazing riders and stories. Everts on an alloy frame 500, Pourcel on a PC 250f, Reedy on his 04 YZ, Millsaps in 13 (?) on that Suzuki leading the 450SX… and the intensity of RV/Tomac, fluidity and style of Jett… But dang. The ferocity of RC and JS in some of those outdoor rounds in 06 is truly unbelievable. Carby...

I have quite a few cool moments but probably the most memorable personally is this screenshot of me on a stock KX125 that I bought out of the classified ads a week before the race, alongside David Bailey at the 1985 MXdN. Bailey’s RC500 Inconel exhaust pipe cost more than my entire bike. I finished 6th in class.

Not long after I started riding back in the 80s I was on a 1986 KX125 and a friend who raced hare scrambles and enduros talked me into entering a race in Maxey's GA. I was in the beginner 200 class, most of the line was KDX200s, IT200s and a couple XR200s. I was the only rider on a full on motocross bike. Probably the only rider without steel bark busters too. When the gun fired I was first to start my bike and pulled a massive holeshot, and I'm not even sure how being new to racing. So we...

Per James Stewart on Pulp MX Show #653, we'll see him on a bike this year... This got me thinking, WHAT IF... Kawasaki to (finally) unveil their new two-stroke drops a release video featuring JS7 absolutely ringing out their new two-smoker with some #259 plates. Talk about EPIC. Someone make this happen.

I have a blank canvas, I'm hoping to concrete the floor, insulate the walls, fit and electric door. Then fit it out for working on my bikes. Hopefully a TV and a beer fridge so I can go out there and watch mx/sx in peace. I'm also looking forward to seeing others workshops for inspiration.

That opening should be enough but there needs to be an opening at the lowest level to create a natural convection to carry the smoke and fumes up and out.

To me, it looks like Craig grabbed a handful of front brake and it dove. My guess is the start device and steering. I think it's high time we look at getting rid of the start device. What does it gain that is positive? I can list multiple negative things: 1. higher speed into first corner, because take off speed is faster. Anyone who's drag raced knows this. 2. Every one has one, so it doesn't benefit anyone on the line. 3. Danger of accidents like Kitchen and maybe Craig because steering loss when locked down 3. Makes more people...
