Deegan, the next American Hero (or rather last hope)? My thoughts.

"It" will start in the very first qualifying session. Don't even know what "it" will be, but it will be something.  I would be interested to see the viewership statistics for the qualifying show Saturday versus other weeks.

If Deegan ever ends up being as good as he thinks he is, then that means he will be the face of the sport for a period of time.

For a sport with a fanbase that is craving acceptance and appreciation by the mainstream, I find it comical that anyone would want this guy to be the face of it. He’s like a 5’5 135lb Hulk Hogan. Only far less likable and able to be taken seriously.

I'm more of a Hollywood Hogan fan myself.

Nobody was anti Jett it was we were just tired of having him pushed on us so hard.  Why did we need to cut away from a 250 race to see him getting on his bike headed for the line.  It was getting stupid.  Speaking of stupid I don't care if Jett is from another country I won't ever root for Deegan over him.  Deegan is the worst in my opinion. He is right up there with Ronnie Mac when it comes to class

It seems like the only "emotional" person is you having an attachment to him. What did GT say that wasn't factual? Deegan drapes himself in American flags during the nationals and has passed up representing America multiple times at mxdn. Thats factual. No emotions, sorry if thats hard for his fanboys to cope with.

You mean the collarbone he broke because he decided it was more important to play fuck-fuck games with Jo instead of racing forward? That collarbone?

1 thing from the original post that I want to touch on, and I'm not saying you are wrong..but Chase clearly is a bit of a head case and if Jett isn't on the line I do think that gives him a little bit extra. He seems to ride better, make fewer mistakes and raise his game. I'm not saying he's faster than Jett and certainly not able to run that pace as consistently as Jett can. But I do think Chase has days where he can be as fast or faster than Jett, when he's totally on. But he seems to psych himself out just by Jett's presence on the line. That last to first race a few years back, was 1 for the ages though.

Meh, you can come up with all the excuses you want for the kid, but it doesn't change the fact that he missed des Nations last year because of a broken collarbone he caused himself by being dumb.

Exactly

This BS "American Hero" marketing campaign was dreamed up in some Monster Energy staff meeting. It has zero to do with reality. The Lawrences are the Motocross American dream. As nice as they could possibly get and beloved by fans. Only a fool would fall for the well funded Deegandashian marketing.

It's not braggin if you deliver,....so far Deegan has risen to the challenge and dominated. I don't care how many Tik Tok Vids he posts, or how big his lips are, if he beats the competition, in the end, thats all that counts.

I stay out of commenting on these idiotic 'Hater' and 'Lover' things, as it's just so bloody pathetic on both sides, but when I scrolled down to that picture put up by TWM , it made me Laugh, so Bloody Hard - and that, literally, scared the piss out of my neighbours little Pup  that I'm 'Pupsitting' tonight.

For such a small Dog, it left a Big Puddle!

You two :   SF38, and TWM - really are at the opposite ends of the Spectrum - both of you, really should take a very hard look at yourselves. Though, if SF38 isn't actually a Deegan, or an early Teenager, it's a worry that he's so, So attached to a rider.

I’ve never met 38.  It’d be naive of me to pass judgement on someone I’ve never met.  All I can do is absorb what I see him do and draw conclusions.  Personally, I don’t like the vibe.  But, and this is so important, in a paradoxical way, this makes me admire him.  I’d think less of the little bastard if I felt he was phony.  I don’t think he’s phony, I just don’t like the aura he puts off.  I’ll admit I’m not very smart but I simply don’t have the cognitive horsepower to understand how anybody who wants to be elite could show up at round 1 without an extreme level of fitness and a terminator type desire to put his foot on the throat of every competitor and watch them expire painfully and slowly.  This isn’t RD5 milk and cookies persona; this is scorched earth destroy every competitor.  Like, you train yourself so hard during the week that Saturday becomes your off day.  This should be standard operating procedure for anyone that wants to win in the 450 class.  RC and RV approached it.  But I think it can be pushed even harder and further.  Malevolent, demonic, compulsive, obsessive, etc., desire to win.  Willingness to sacrifice every friendship and relationship.  Living off the grid.  No internet.  No TV.  A track.  A bike.  A power rack.  Olympic weight set.  Good running shoes.  Mountain bike.  Kind of like Parris Island 1965 marines boot camp.  Sure, have someone film it.  They’ll feel defeated before the gate even drops knowing they’re competing against this.  Again, I’m not real smart but if there’s a pro in the adult 450 class showing up at Pala without this mentality I don’t understand.  I think Deegan is closest to personifying this but still a galaxy away.  These other guys expect to have a life, an enjoyable life?  No.  That’s all gone.  It’s dead and buried.

Punk... ( hey you asked ) !

You do realize Shimoda tried to take out Deegan twice in his rookie year at SMX finale and then 3 times in one night (orange jumpsuit gear) when Deegan was battling with Beaumer? Everything Deegan threw back at Joe was justified.

Yeah, but it would be a weak argument, somewhere along the lines of “Andrew Tate is a good role model” argument.

It amazes me how much grown men think about Haiden. Good and bad. I’m excited to see how he does, but not anymore than Prado, Jett, Tomac, Sexton, and Hunter.

A lot of sad, miserable men, unable to fathom success at the highest level within a sport they are passionate about.

When they see someone young with so much confidence and success, it frustrates them, because they believe in their mind that they will never amount to anything in life, or be confident/believe in themselves, so when Deegan does his thing, it leads to them projecting their insecurities on here with all the hate talk.

Maybe some grown men can appreciate a professional athlete that carries himself with class, who sets a high character example for the next generation of young riders, and doesn’t let the fame get to his head.

I understand that might be a difficult concept to grasp for some people with the mental capacity of a teenager, but I would like to challenge them to think critically on such a subject.

My comment about deegan being faster than vialle got a whole pile of dislikes.  Very surprised that many people think two years of actual results don't matter.

Not everyone is the same, and your ideas of what constitutes moral aptitude is different than someone else’s, both are highly subjective.  I can’t think of one thing Haiden has done that has caused a real harm in the world. If being young, cocky, and arrogant is a crime or shows a deep character flaw, then many of us are or were guilty as charged.

Saying that those who disagree with your subjective standards, “have the mental capacity of a teenager” is itself juvenile, surface level thinking.

It makes sense. Vialle has beat some of the best riders in the world already on his 450 this season in his first attempts. Deegan, well he hasn’t done anything on a 450…yet.
