I often hear the Supercross championship revered as the highest accolade of our sport. In podcasts and broadcasting etc they often refer to it as the pinnacle. What, to you, is the top of the mountain
Poll
SX title is probably tops in the industry…. It has the viewership and brings the big $$.
I like it all, but the outdoor MX format is still my favorite watch.
^^ Facts.
Motocross is Core, its what we all grew up doing , but SX is a nice tidy made-for-TV package that brings in the big bucks, and draws the sponsors.....
We all know SX brings the most money. You have to have a lot of skill to ride a SX track, which very few people who actually ride can do. But I also feel that SX can sometimes just be whoever can last the season being consistent and without getting hurt.
And still....I think MX overall is better and I feel like the guys who win are incredible. Going 30+2 laps against guys that have been riding MX their whole lives seems like a more badass title to me.
While I think an outdoor titles the most prestigious- I think the industry looks at a 450sx as the top..

Dirtbikes are supposed to be raced outdoor on naturalish tracks. MX in a parking lot build is shit as well. SX is a bastardized version of offroad racing. It either Nationals or MXGP. I think MXGP tracks, the highs are high but lows are lower. Most of the US tracks conditions are just so similar like we don't have one good legit sand race. I've enjoyed watching MXGP more recently than the nationals but I feel like there is more mix at the top there. Maybe also after watching the same 5 guys race SX all winter I just want to watch other people with different styles ride. I think it flip flops year to year and who is racing. This year will be hard to say which series will be better but MXGP is pretty good right now.
The 2022 Outdoor MX title was the last real outdoor title before the SMX format de-prioritized the outdoors. That title (Tomac) gets my vote, individually.
If you ask fans you will get about 40% to say MX and MXGP…but if you ask the riders they will 100% say SX…
Huh? Because of one round less? wtf
I love outdoors, but SX brings the viewers and moolah to the sport.
I think winning outdoor titles is more impressive but as far as prestige goes it’s Supercross easily.
Depends on how you define “prestige.” It used to be that the Motocross of Nations was the one event that defined who was the baddest badass on a dirt bike… at least for that day. So with that in mind, I would say that MX1GP is the most prestigious because that’s usually where this event is held. But there’s a very solid argument for the US 450 Pro Motocross series because of the amount of talent.
And if earning power is the definition of prestige, then the 450 SX series is the one. But real MX fans are not that happy about it.
Biggest bonuses are for sx.
I should have said its SMX duhh
I'd definitely say the 2010 season championship in 14-24 at my local track, for sure.
I like outdoors better but it's SX. 17 round meat grinder and you're not winning it with a DNF. More than one finish outside the top 10 and title chances are very slim. Enough factory guys to fill the main event. Shorter races mean less margin for error and ability to salvage bad start or tip over. Being that on for that many weeks without getting injured is just a bigger ask than what an 11 round outdoor series is now.
We all know Stupidcross is more prestigious,
However the "core" know what makes a real man, and it ain't parading around in front of casual followers, IMO.
Supercross, for sure. It's the sport that sells the most product.
However, as most people in here have noted, "Most Prestigious" doesn't always mean "best." I prefer MX and I know it's harder to win outdoors than inside.
I think they are both obviously prestigious titles in their own, right. Personally I like Nationals over SX . But the absolute pinnacle for a professional racer , is to have both titles on your resume. 💯
Pit Row
SX is the F1 in dirt bike,MX is like Ralley, but MX is and will be the dirt bike sport for every one.
For me MXdN is still the pinnacle of the sport, but yes SX is the “most prestigious”.
However motocross will always be core. IMO MXGP is the gnarliest- different countries, the length of the season, the depth of talent and the big one; racing on dirt that ranges from concrete to bottomless sand.
Here here
Its not an opinion. There's a reason the reigning MXGP champion left many millions and GP championships to come race SX. It's not even a question
I’d say the vet 40 amateur national championship
I voted MXGP because they’re the only series that actually treats their series like it’s a top level Motorsport.
Feld and the ama treat it like it’s a show. Every time it rains they prance in front of the camera wearing goggles on their face to show us what tears off, and show us which hand pulls in the clutch lever, and what a brake pedal does.
And they let this guy out of his permanent stay at the Derek Zoolander Centre for Kids Who Can't Read Good every Saturday to mangle and wreck the English language...
Like someone above said it depends how you define prestigious..
My opinion is it shouldn't be about popularity or money.. What title would you most want on your resume if money or fame weren't involved or equal..
For me that's the MXGP title
Aah it is an opinion cause the reason he did that cause it was HIS opinion that it's more important
If you’re not sure which one is most prestigious go back and watch Kenny in Salt Lake last Saturday. You’ll have your answer.
SX
MXGP
450 AMA
I personally like outdoor motocross much better but just looking at it realistically
