I’ve generally found that people fall into two categories for first dirt bike experiences: They fell and/or got hurt the first ride, then never rode again. Remember as well Gary that the board raised money to help you go when you weren't going to go because you couldn't afford it. Folks here got behind you. Hillbilly gave us a running commentary in a thread when your motos were on. It's shame you couldn't get there the next year - special experience for those that qualify, not something I'd ever have been capable of. The boards were a different world then, and this one in particular during that time was a great community.

It’s not crazy. Fees are like $1700 for two classes with pit pass and stuff. Not bad for being there 12 days. My kids love going every year The cost that’s expensive is all the racing/training to be on the level to compete there. My kid did make $500 from flo racing this year atleast lol

im surprised there is no bench racing thread already? Great to see HSU and Stark on top of SX2 qualifying. He couldnt believe it himself. Also Justin Hill 1st in SX1 qualy. Impressive Superpole next

63 yrs old now and through 40+ bikes (including 2 street bikes). Down to one bike now. 2025 Honda CRF 250. Brilliant bike, easy to ride. off 450's forever but that new Honda 450, while very inviting...I need to remember why I got off 450's at this age-they are too much bike no matter how good they are! I'm back to riding the bike instead of the bike riding me. I still follow the sport the same way I did when I started racing in 1975 in the big wheel schoolboy class on a Suzuki TM100.

Living thru those age bands, like we all have if you are of a certain age, it is interesting to reflect on. For me I was 100%+ into motocross starting in junior high. On 11-18 I turn 60 I laugh when people said I,d never make it to 21. Had a lot of injuries & surgeries from work . Last 4 yrs 3 days in a row of injections for months. 6-27 I had my 1st big 1 on a bike . Paramedics gave me a fentanyl shot didn’t kill the pain but calmed my fighting for breath down. 61 and working on my best fitness ever. Broke as heck as a kid and have been lucky enough and worked hard to buy bikes I couldn’t have dreamed of. Best thing about OTHG racing in 4 years I’ll be the young guy in the 65 class. Right now trying to decide if I sell off my second 23 450SR and get the 27 Honda or just wait out to see how Kawis updated bike shakes out.

Just turned 70 and not at all down hill. Have 4 bikes and get to the track a couple of times a year on my 2stroke. Retirement is awesome. There is a lot to look forward to for motocrossers in their youth - my first race was at 16 as soon as I could drive myself to the track. Change your poll to "70 Plus - can't wait to ride this week".
