I think we've hit the point of max technology for the price. The manufacturers could do more advanced things like magna-ride type suspension, more advanced maps, lighter weight materials, etc. but people don't want to pay $20k for a dirt bike. Since we moved to 4 strokes, bikes haven't advanced that much. Look at a 2008 CRF450 vs a 2026 CRF450. The 26' isn't that much better. Yes FI is a big improvement, but a well setup 08' is more than enough bike for most of us on this forum. Where I do see some potential for advancement would something...

Technically they made changes to the crank and flywheel in 2003, but the rest of it has been pretty much untouched since 1999. Frame change in 2005, form change in 2004 and another fork change in 2006, lugs changed in 08 I believe. Engine wise though like I said was pretty much 1999.

Why would they discontinue them? The design & tooling is paid for. They bikes cost them very little to wheel out the door and people are still buying them. As the saying goes, “it’s money for old rope”. plus there’s these recent rumours about Suzuki Japan showing an interest in racing again. Suzuki isn’t going anywhere.

I think Gajser has an easier switch from one alu fram to an other. Herlings has never ridden a alu frame but i would think he will fit the honda good.

Guy was overly strict back in the day hence so many of us getting clicked. We went away from it in 2025 for a few reasons. I was paying a decent chunk of money for GP photos, but this was the only feature it supported. Primarily, it was a nightmare feature to put together. Some weeks, I would get a couple of photos of only one bike, and have to pretty much just toss in a ton of racing photos to even get to a 1/3 of the size of a US Pit Bits. In his format, Carson has proven he’s very difficult to beat. Single lap speed on a fresh track on a 2t. He’s elite. We all know a full moto changes things significantly. He’s still really good, but he comes back to reality.

Chad missed the back half of the nationals in 05-06, and skipped 07-08. RV only did two full 450 seasons, Dunge pretty much made them all except 2017. I think James only made two (06 and 2013). RC made em all except for 04 SX Tomac I believe made both seasons from 16-23? Minus Round 2 in 2018?

You know what I just realized, Ken was close to Jett’s age when he crashed in 2017. Then missed most of 2018 too with the wrist/hand. Thats about the closest parallel I can think of. I think K-dub was mid-20s during his injury hiatus
