I’ve been wondering about the NASCAR street race in Chicago this weekend also. Being strapped in a 130 degree cock pit for 3 hours breathing carbon monoxide is bad enough, now add that crap on top of it. Sounds like a not-so-good time. Not a good situation for either group. Spectating at either event won’t be any fun either.

For the past few days, Chicago has had the worst air quality of any city in the world. I live 2 and a half hours south near Indianapolis and the smog here feels like Glen Helen on an August afternoon. My friends that live in Northern Indiana say the whole place smells like a camp fire that just got put out. No matter how fit an athlete is, if they are predisposed to asthma, conditions like this can certainly trigger it. Sure hope some of the smoke clears out before Saturday.

Long time lurker, hi everyone. I went to buy tickets to the September event here in Charlotte, but not sure if Ticketmaster's suggested best seats are all that great. Right now, suggested sections T/U/V are available at $100 each. I have never been to a speedway event so not sure where to ideally camp out when the track sprawls out. Not just RC, K-Dub probably has the unluckiest timing of any racer in History. Coming in he had to deal with MC then the trio of RC, Bubba and Reed. Not a lot of championships left over after those guys are through. Easily a top ten rider of all time and he doesn't have a single big bike title. That's utterly bonkers.

I wonder if the lack of interest has anything to do with the Tour de France? The latter stages of the TdF are in that region, including the penultimate stage on the same date as the proposed WSX round in Lyon.

Yes, a few of teams involved mentioned it on Friday at High Point. It's been canceled and will supposedly be replaced by a round in Abu Dhabi later in the year. Unless there are further changes made to the schedule, there will be around 90 days between round one in England and the new round two in Singapore. Rumor for cancellation is lack of interest/pre-sale tickets. I repeat, rumor.

As an ancient old geezer...I really dig tracks like Highpoint. That un-prepped, whatever develops, is what tracks were, back in the day. Just surviving the track was as much of a fight as the competition. This aspect was as much or more of a victory than finishing position...at least for me. I don't mind a smooth flowing track once in a while but this is outdoor MX. The tracks should be brutal.
