No. I’m enjoying retirement in Aix en Provence, France. I posted that because it seems like Eli finally tried some stiffer forks. Looks like he’s struggling a bit in the turns but the front end is finally holding up better. It was just an observation after being critical of his front end for years. And which was a disaster in Australia and I talked about it on my show. That’s all.

I honestly thought I was going to have to order a collet to get it out. Rocky Mt ATV had one for cheap that might have worked. I went to Harbor freight bought a new punch and some extra dremel discs. It didn’t budge first few licks, had me worried for a while. All the time I was banging on it reminded me how stupid this was lol. I’ll be the first one to admit I’m not as good mechanically as I once was. My age isn’t helping either. The first 15 or so years of my working career I...

Highly recommend the Tusk Quick Draw filter system . Still has the slide in base plate that has a rubber sealing gasket on it. The filter cage attaches to the base plate with a center bolt like a typical filter set up. The base plate and cage are aluminum. Half the price of the Power Flow and no need to disassemble the air box. Who ever designed it did a great job! You have to wiggle the base plate up and down a tad to get it to slide in far enough to clip in. Just did my first filter...

You can keep Diddy and his friends. We'll be out in the backwoods with the salt of the earth people doing something we love to do because we love to do it, not because some plastic celebrity deems it worthy. The smaller the better. Screw the mainstream

I did this for my young teenage son who was doing most of our bike maintenance at the time. Once you find your setting make a small block out of wood or I use composite deck board scraps. Slide the block in behind the chain guard. We made a few of em. We have one in shop, trailer, and track box. Just makes it super easy.

You can pull the shock and raise your back wheel to find the tightest point. Set it a tad looser than that, install shock and then take your measurement with your bike on the stand. That should be your new measurement to go off of. My 04 cr250s measurement in the manual is like 25mm which seems extremely tight, but as you go through the stroke the chain hardly tightens. My 23 ktm needed 68-70mm

So here is where I ended up. After getting a 30% off Ride Eng clamp and installing the bottom race upside down, I’m back to square one. I ground a notch, see pic and drove it out with a punch. Took a little work but not as bad as I thought. I measured the OEM race VS the Ride Eng race which is a Timken race. It was close best I could tell. Even with old school grease test it was good. So I got a Timken bearing and OEM race. I’m fine best I could tell, it’s a steering...

wwdiii : " I don’t do stupid shit very often but when I do it’s really stupid. " Cripes I can relate to that! I'm so cautious, and, well, very experienced at my age, but every couple of years, I do something that I can't understand how I managed to f**k up so utterly comprehensively. Sh*t Happens...........

This is one of the main reasons we don't cheap out with a Chinese bearing on our clamps. Luxon clamps use OEM bearings, so there's no need to change the OEM race if it's in good shape. You're also not getting a downgraded bearing from stock. Some of the Chinese bearings have the same dimensions as the OEM, so you don't necessarily have to change them out (KTM, I think), but a lot of them are different dimensions and must be changed out (Yamaha for sure).

I don’t think you mentioned it but could you tell if the new air filter/intake setup made a difference in the engine response?

I was told the velocity stack changed in addition to the air filter cage. The filter is definitely more round. At least on the 250 the exhaust outlet on the akrapovic slip on also changed. It looks like they made it a smaller diameter.

I really love the engine on the 2025 YZ450F, but I can see why you would want a more manageable engine. The Yamaha is exciting, snappy, and very free-reving, which can be a lot on rough tracks or when you are tired. I can confirm that my 2024.5 FC450 Rockstar has the best overall 450 engine I've ever ridden...it's an...
