Sorry, it was a negative comment. I just get tired of seeing years and years of so many people do YoYo dieting in different forms. I already shared something constructive though, it’s a lifestyle change that needs to happen. Not a I’m going to cut everything and workout a bunch and lose a bunch of weight in 2 months, all that does is cause you to lose muscle and mess up your metabolism. Then when you return to your normal lifestyle you gain back typically more weight and not the muscle you lost. It’s a slow consistent process that wins the race, a lifestyle change, eat everything in modesty and workout regularly and you will be in good shape.

It's all good, brother 👍. I don't disagree, but obviously it's going to require significant lifestyle and mindset changes to maintain a healthy weight if you've allowed yourself to become obese. But there's nothing wrong with making drastic changes to get the ball rolling. I've lost 78 lbs since February and I've completely changed my lifestyle, habits, and mindset. I dropped a lot of weight (4-5 lbs/week) because I worked my ass off and stopped eating like a fat POS. I did not do any carb cutting, dangerous injections/medications, or any other "fad" diet. Once I lost the majority of the weight, I slowly reintroduced calories and now eat about 2000-2400 calories per day. I feel absolutely incredible and have more energy than I know what to do with. I was 163.3 pounds this morning. But I did it "wrong" according to you. I encourage everyone to do SOMETHING; you have to start somewhere and anything is better than continuing with whatever you are doing now. 🤘👍💪

I didn’t take offense, it’s all good.  I made a big life style change last year.   Lost 40 ish pounds, cut carbs out and got back to the gym.  I slipped up and gained a few pounds last month few months.  Drank too much, ate bad.   Kinda got myself back on track recently, down 7 pounds last 10 days.  Along with hitting the gym hard.

Some of us get side tracked easy.  I know what to do but I  slip up.  Even getting back up to 220 like I did a while back, was still in pretty good shape.  But not where I should be.

I realized last year where I stood with my age.  I better do the best I can……cause I ain’t getting any younger lol.  I want to throw a leg over a MX bike long as I can.

Again, my bad for wording it in an extreme way calling it wrong. I am very happy for you, and good on you for making the lifestyle change that can last forever.

I have been in bodybuilding, marathon, cycling, and general fitness and prep my whole life. I’ve coached a few dozen people and worked with tons of training partners. The simplest and easiest thing you can do is just intermittent fasting. Stop eating so much! Period. Do IF from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm and then once you’re in rhythm reduce from 12:00-6:00. This is the simplest and most foolproof thing to do in my findings.

Restriction diets (keto, carnivore, morning gym) and novel methods almost always shock the person and they don’t find any sustainability in it. Start here and add on as your life allows. The goal is not only weight loss and health but the continuation of it.

Also, weight loss drugs are gay - go earn it like a man and you won’t ever be in this position again. Weight loss is 99% mental 1% physical. When you understand this, you’ll succeed.

Edit: I don’t drink so I forgot about it but if you won’t give up alcohol and vices then you’re basically choosing to line up to the gate with a rag in your airbox. Good luck.

GLP-1 drugs are a miracle invention. Telling people to "man up" is plain stupid. A person only has so much stress tolerance and by taking a GLP-1 drug one can mitigate nearly all of the stress of a fat loss diet by taking a GLP-1. The stress of a fat loss diet is meaningless suffering, it's a bodily reaction to calorie restriction. A programed survival mechanism for a time that's no longer needed in the modern world. To subject one's self to hunger pain for months on end and to suffer with the brain fog, fatigue and irritability is a waste of effort. The stress of a fat loss diet is quite literally a waste of time and now you can skip all of that grief with GLP-1 drugs and devote that energy into other meaningful things in life like work and family.

I thought it was odd your comment was the first one after I wrote

"I don't want to reinvent the wheel with big lifestyle changes cause I know that wont last. Hoping the small easy to manage "Adjustments" keep the weight slowly coming off. I'm not trying to lose weight fast, I'm trying to lose it for good".

I'll admit my first thought when I read your post was, Thanks bro...🙄 fuck this clown, probably some naturally skinny fucker that's never had a weight problem his whole life.😂 But the reality is your post just motivated me more. So you actually did help, and maybe in some way motivated guys more than the encouragement posts. 😆 All good it's just the internet, always something to piss you off somewhere hahaha.

By the way I agree a "Contest" to lose the most in a certain time period is a recipe for someone to go all in and then bounce back up even fatter later, like that show the biggest loser. What something like 90+% of the people on that show gained more weight back than they lost after a year or 2 ? A lifestyle change is the only way to keep it off you are correct. All good carry on ! 👍

At the gym, all the girls joke with the girls who hopped on a GLP-1 asking them where their butt went lol. GLP-1 rips your muscle out of your body and you don’t even feel it other then getting weaker and weaker. It’s a fad, and again one that isn’t a permanent thing because the second you hop off it your weight goes back up, only this time the muscle you did have and then lost now gets replaced with fat.

LOL love this post. Also, I’ll admit I hesitated so much in writing in this thread because I knew I’d come off bad. Don’t want that, but I have a lot of experience in it. And yes I was always a skinny dude, until I wasn’t. I graduated highschool at 130lbs (6’0”). The I moved out and went to work and did absolutely nothing but eat hoho’s and drink pop for my diet and I quit any working out (wasn’t riding the either) and went to about 200lbs and my mom once commented on my love handles 😂 and before that I hadn’t even noticed. So I lost weight the unhealthy way. Then realized I couldn’t do that forever. Started eating in moderation and lifting regularly. Been between 155-175 consistently for the last 15 years or so, depending on what I am doing with my body and workouts (gaining strength or being more lean).

I have seen this first hand where I work. Several of my coworkers started using that stuff and they lost a bunch of weight. 4 of the 5 have gained it all back, and then some...I guess it wasn't sustainable. The one person who is still using it does not look well - his face is sunken in and has developed bad acne (not sure if that's related?). I don't know, I am not here to judge anyone or what works for them to lose weight, but it certainly wasn't for me.

Obesity is a chronic condition. There is nothing muscle wasting about GLP1's. Anyone that loses muscle either didnt have it in the first place, did not eat enough protein to prevent muscle catabolism from severe caloric deficits. Women seem to be inherenty the worst offenders. Give them a drug to calm the desire to eat and they wont. And then they will brag about not eating as well.

Loss of lean mass is not loss of muscle mass.  They are becoming standard practice in bodybuilding/physique competitors.

Reading through some of the post on loosing muscle.  Yeah the GLP1 drugs will cause muscle loss.  So will an aggressive diet.  Any weight loss without exercise will cause muscle loss.  Some people will even have hair loss on an aggressive diet.

I dropped 40 pounds last year on an aggressive diet.  I felt so bad I didn’t go to the gym.  I’ll throw modesty out the window, old guy or not I’ve always carried a lot of muscle.  That all changed with rapid weight loss.  I looked in the mirror and had loose skin and skinny legs.  I went from 38 MX pants to 32 for a while, until I hit the gym.  Put on quite a bit of muscle quick, back in 34’s.

In the last year or so I’ve worked out harder than I ever have in my life.  I’ve got to where I like to go to the gym, to the point it gets in the way of other things I need to do lol.  If I could I’d go everyday and some weeks I do.

My advice to anybody loosing weight…….especially  those using GLP1.  Go to the gym and work out and don’t just f…k around hit it hard.  If you can afford it, hire a professional trainer.  A good trainer can show you things in the gym/how to work out you never dreamed of.  I played a lot of sports and spent a lot of time in a gym when I was younger, thought I knew a lot.  I found out I was wrong.  I would have never made the progress on my own like I have using a trainer.  I’m down to working with a trainer once a week, maybe every two weeks.

Getting stronger makes it easier to make laps at the track, especially as you get older.  Also helps when you hit the ground!

It is a chronic condition for a very small percentage of people, and those people need it, but GLP-1 user base is largely a percentage of people who don’t have a chronic condition.

Man up, baby boy.

Grown men who take weight loss drugs are soft as newborn skin and should have to have a yellow baby bottle patch sewn into all their clothes.

“Wahhhhh I’m hungry wahhh” 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Haha all good, like I said you got me more determined to not fail, just to prove you wrong. We take motivation however we can get it right ? lol

Hey just curious, isn't going between 155 and 175 considered yoyo-ing ? Asking for a friend

😄😄😄

To anyone new to using a rower..watch some utube on proper form, poor form can injure/ strain lower back, proper form is more important in the beginning when using the rower. I place a towel over the screen, watching the time tick away is painfully slow…I alternate rowing with Schwinn airdyne stationary bike when I cannot get outside for cardio. I just lost about 8lbs in the last month, from 198 to 190, thats about as low as I can maintain without going full kook mode…. I cut out beer, sweets, and late night snacks….working real hard on eliminating all processed foods….no fast food, no soda or juices…. Lots of fruit & veggies, fish & lean meats…

I may have started the thread but I don’t care if someone is using GLP1.  I want people to get in shape, make more laps at the track, get healthy and ride safe.

Here is my take, my wife dropped dime on 6 months of Semaglutide a few months back.  She wasn’t all that over weight, 5’6” 7” ish size 8.  She hasn’t lost all that much weight but I’d bet most of what she lost is muscle, not enough protein and not enough exercise.  No different than going aggressive calories deficit and lack protein and exercise…….you’ll lose muscle.  Which is a big deal.  If you don’t know that it’s a big deal.

GLP1 has its purpose and will help people with health issues.  But it’s not a fix all end all for everybody.  Used right it’s a miracle drug.

Watch what ya eat and go to the gym!

I’m down 8 pounds in less than two weeks, 212.6  this afternoon after hitting the gym.

I dont know though, the ol lady has been baking like crazy and my steps feel like they have more jiggle then they did before, maybe I gotta start tracking myself and my intakes 😂

Something else I want to focus on this new year besides cardio is flexibility. I did yoga this morning and I was a little embarrassed on how tight I was. I've always had tight hamstrings, but they're really bad currently.

I’d like to learn yoga but those yoga pants don’t look good on me.  Especially with cowboy boots.

On a serious note besides dropping a few pounds and improve cardio, I need to get more flexible.  Back in the summer I slipped on wet grass, did really awkward splits.  Tore groin muscle bad and muscle down inside of my leg.  Missed a month or more of riding, doctor sent me to therapy.  I could barely walk and get in my truck.  We have two machines at the gym that have really helped, along with some stuff the therapist showed me.

But I need to get flexible all over.  Even going to the gym as much as I do…….i couldn’t touch my toes with a gun to my head.

They did an endoscopy and looked around, found inflammation on the esophagus and stomach, took a sample from her stomach lining to get tested, haven't heard any results yet. The link didn't work but I'll google it. No appetite = no food = no energy, as you know. Thanks for the reply

This thread is awesome.  Yes - I am on that journey to lose the weight as well.  I was about 250 (at 5' 8") - a fat mother f-er.  I got down to about 210 but have gained some back and now 225.  When i was in my best shape (early 20's / in college) I was 180 lbs and a 8% bodyfat.  But that was 40-ish years ago.  My goal is twofold - get in shape for moto and life.  My plan is: first the diet (fasting - no breakfast and eat lunch and dinner).  i will be going back to the carnivore type plan as i have been successful with it (meat, fruit/veggies and some natural fat).  For the workouts - goal is to walk 8-10K steps per most days which I am close to now, ride a bike 3-4 days per week (stationary or mt bike depending on weather) and hit the weights (low to mid weight).  All this will start off slow then pick up.  I will update on progress.

That's a solid plan, mt only suggestion would be to track your food. Get some food scales and download a free app to track your food. Determine what macros you want to meet on a daily basis and adjust as needed. I can "eat clean" and I stay at about 15% BF, but if I want to get below 10%, I must track my macros.

It’s been a goal of mine the last 20 yrs to put the pounds on. Pigging out 3 hrs b4 bed wasn’t working. Do I checked myself into the fat clinic .  And I, m ever greatful I did. After 1,500 infusions of liquid Lard iv,s. Something clicked and all the pounds I ever Dreamed about appeared .  C pics . I was so proud , that I  entered a fat boy sexy boy contest. And splurged on wrist & head bands. I was feeling it & looking perfectly fat enough. And I thought I was a podium guy.

I’m setting here watching chiefs and Bronco’s.  I’ve ate everything and drank everything  wrong last few days.  I’ll be glad for the holiday's to be over.  I’m ready to get back to eating right.  I started this post and screwed up the worst last few days lol

I’m scared to get on the scales but I’m planning to make an impressive comeback !!!
