Some one mentioned carnivore diet...

Yes, it's no BS when it comes to dropping weight.

I dropped 30lbs in a little over 30 days, but I also added in intermittent fasting, so basically 1 good filling meal a day usually somewhere between 3 and 6 pm.

I found that I wasn't feeling hungry for up 20 hrs.

The key is to cut most carbs and all sugars, at least until you hit your target weight....you need to be strict during that time

I cut coffee, all breads, cereals, rice, pastas, alcohol, and sugars including fruit high on the sugar index

..and 3 years since I started I'm still off all of it.

I went from 216 to now 170 and I feel 1000 percent better.

As a note, I didn't get on any crazy workout program.

At 65 I need to preserve my joints so I do mostly stretching and easy basic floor exercises, that and riding hard enduro techy single track twice a week.

I started intermittent fasting on Nov. 29, the 16-8 plan. My window to eat is between noon and 8pm. Started at 5'10" 209lb, office job and laziness been kicking my ass. Late night snacking was packing on the pounds too. I've lost 4lb doing really nothing but eating 2 reasonable meals a day and not snacking. Been feeling a little better lately, I only really get "hungry" close to noon, so its been pretty easy to stick to my window. Main "workout" lately has been keeping up with my 16 month old toddler, and I get 10k steps a day basically on autopilot doing day to day stuff. I'd like to get back to 170lb, so I'll tack on some Les Mills workouts when I feel a little better.

I'd die for some pizza. Severe gastroparesis and can't barely eat anything

Pretty much what I did last year and lost 40 pounds.  After I dropped my weight had a physical.  Dr said I don’t know what you are doing but keep doing it, blood work is great.

With all the steak and eggs I was eating was worried about blood work/cholesterol.  But it was low as it’s ever been.

After a couple of months I started adding spring mix salad to my diet, lots of spinach and arugula.  Ken’s buttermilk ranch dressing is low carb and tastes pretty good.

The diet is the hardest part….Just trying to eliminate surgars and seed oils is a challenge…the food companies are down right evil how they hide that poison in our foods…as an almost 60 year old, I”m trying my hardest to eat cleaner, but dam…. No rice, pasta, bread, cereal, beer, ice cream…..WTF! Looks like I can eat lettuce and water…

Beer is the hard part for me.  I’m retired now but when you work a ton of hours during the week along with travel.  A cold beer on a Friday night after long hours and airports always sounded good to me.  Even retired come Friday about 5 sometimes earlier……I’m looking for a 12 pack.  Which calls for KFC hangover food the next day lol!  Also not the best day to hit the track.  Sure enough not a good way to loose weight!

Like Sandman said, the crap put in food it evil.  Sugar is cheap, tastes good and makes people want more.

I have been in bodybuilding, marathon, cycling, and general fitness and prep my whole life. I’ve coached a few dozen people and worked with tons of training partners. The simplest and easiest thing you can do is just intermittent fasting. Stop eating so much! Period. Do IF from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm and then once you’re in rhythm reduce from 12:00-6:00. This is the simplest and most foolproof thing to do in my findings.

Restriction diets (keto, carnivore, morning gym) and novel methods almost always shock the person and they don’t find any sustainability in it. Start here and add on as your life allows. The goal is not only weight loss and health but the continuation of it.

Also, weight loss drugs are gay - go earn it like a man and you won’t ever be in this position again. Weight loss is 99% mental 1% physical. When you understand this, you’ll succeed.

Edit: I don’t drink so I forgot about it but if you won’t give up alcohol and vices then you’re basically choosing to line up to the gate with a rag in your airbox. Good luck.

Dude! You can have all of that minus the beer.
Pasta should not be eaten at night IMO. Rice is great, cook it yourself. Bread is another daytime food for me but a staple. I love bread. Either make it or buy Dave's green bag (oil free). Cereal - another staple of mine. Simple cereals like plain Cheerios, rice crispies, shredded wheat are oil and sugar free. I eat TONS of rice crispies with vanilla whey and honey. Best workout fuel there is eaten about 1.5 hours ahead of time.

There are also plenty of ice creams with no oil - I abuse the Bryers natural daily also😂😂😂

Sorry to hear that, my wife is going through that right now, it started about 6 months ago. She's lost 45 lbs and her appetite is next to nill. Been to the ER twice, last time she was there 2 nights getting fluids pumped in and tests galore. Waiting for biopsy reports. Meanwhile been experimenting with different diets and ways to get her energy level back up. Good luck to you.

Uggh - down 50 then up 23 last year, going to have to recommit. 213 this morning. Need to be ready for Mammoth in June and Markleeville (bicycle) Deathride in July - carrying weight at altitude for 7 laps is a bitch and even more for 15K feet of road bicycle climbing

That's why I'm turning part of my little shop into a home gym. At the end of 2023 I weighed in at about 175, two years later my ass has blimped up to about 200. At 5'8", I'm a bit chunky.

I was 241 lbs. on February 10th of this year...I just hit 165 lbs. yesterday. The majority of the weight was lost in the first 3-4 months, but it's been much harder to lose the last 10 lbs. I'm 5'10" and 46 years old, so I think 165 lbs is a good place to stop. I feel better now than I did in my 30's, and it blows my mind that I'm doing 60-minute motos without any trouble. And I have been able to stop taking ALL prescription medications. It was only a couple years ago, before my cpap and weight loss, that I was barely able to get my gear on without being exhausted. 2-3 fast laps was all I could muster. I have cut out anything with added sugars, but otherwise eat what I want, just MUCH less of it. I focused on a calorie deficit (800-900 calories/day) rather than carb cutting or any other fad diet. For exercise, I rode my dirt bike as much as I possibly could (3-4 times/week) and used a $150 stationary bike I bought from Amazon. It doesn't take much other than desire and commitment.

And as an added bonus, this was my first year racing MX, and I won the 35+ and 45+ championships in the Master's of MX series!

Good luck to those of you who want to lose some weight this year - I can say, without a doubt, that you won't be sorry!

One of the other threads inspired me ya might say.  Quite a few guys mentioned dropping weight.  Some even mentioned significant amounts.

I’m thinking we have a friendly weight loss competition for bragging rights.  I dropped about 40 pounds last year but needed to loose 60.  Big guys can carry a lot of weight lol. I’m about 6’1” now, was 6’2” in high school but back surgery and age has shrunk me.  I’ll be 70 in March, but I don’t feel like it!

Was down to 205 but back up to 220 the other day.  I noticed my weight gain at the track the other day.  Got tired quicker.  I really don’t want to start swapping to heavier springs on 3 motocross bikes lol.  I’m going to drop a few pounds, 20 maybe more starting now into early 2026.

Anybody want to jump in, list their weight/goals and share diet/exercise plans on how to do it.  Might help somebody else drop a few.

I’ll go first,

Dec. 8th I was 220.  I started a 36 hour fast the same day.  My diet plans are low carb, target no more than 20 carbs a day.  Calories 1200 to 1600 per day.  Which is aggressive but I did it last year and dropped 40 pounds.

My exercise plan is to up my gym days for 3 to 4 days a week, along with added cardio.  My one mile on the treadmill is not getting me anywhere.  I want to be seriously improve the time I stay on the track.

I want to loose 10 pounds between now and Christmas, then 5 pounds in Jan. and 5 in Feb.  If I get to that I’ll look in the mirror and decide if I need to loose more.

Anybody else want to jump in !!!

This is the best encouragement we can give to our moto brothers. I am short, only 5’5. I quit riding around 09 and gained so much weight. Boredom, depression, no hobby like MX. In 2023 I was at my worst. 247LB. I ruptured 3 discs and budged 2 others in a work accident. I was fat, injured, helpless. I hated feeling that way, like a burden to my wife and kids. While recovering from surgery I was reading the 2023 450 shootout and told myself it was time to ride again. I needed motivation to get off of the couch. I picked the slowest 450 that had electric start. The Honda CRF450R. The local dealer loaded it up for me and it sat in the bed of my truck for 6mo in the garage. I didn’t want it coming out until I could do it myself. From that moment forward I made these changes. No fast food, ever. No sodas or energy drinks ever. I lived on fast food and junk drinks. I’d often have 4-5 Red Bulls a day. The hardest change I have made is not eating after 6PM. I have lost 95LBS and I am in the best shape at 40, than I ever was, ever. I went from a 38” waist pant that fit tight, to now needing a belt with 31” paints to keep them from falling off. Investing effort into my health was the best decision I have ever made. (Oh, I was surprised how fast the 2023 CRF450R actually was, the magazines are full of shit)

I’ve dropped over 80lb over the last year. I just hit what I originally thought was my goal weight, but it certainly appears another 20-25 would be doable. The one thing I certainly do not want to do is try to lose weight in season next year. Being over 45, it’s all my body could handle to recover from each race weekend. Very good chance that I can continue to drop excess weight while properly fueling for training and races.

Last year at this time, my training load was 3-5hr a week. This year I’m hitting 8-10hr and not even bothering to count quick walks or other small activities that would have been significant a year ago.

Been sober for 3yr now, it’s a joke to think how horrible that cycle of drunk and hung over was for all those years. Unless you plan on dying this week, it’s never to late

Way to go man! I'm 5-10 and a decade older then you but I felt 165 was my optimum weight also.

What i also like in your post is the $150 stationary bike. I lost a bunch of weight in 2001 by riding an 11 year old schwin bicycle every day after work. Just gotta get the heart rate up for a bit. And eat less. It can be simple.

That is very impressive, 76 pounds or there about.  Took a lot of dedication and guess 4-5 different sets of clothes along the way but worth it.

Thank you! I appreciate that. And I am 46 years old now...I'll be 47 in April.

Thanks, brother! Haha...that was the most frustrating part of losing weight! I would buy new clothes and 1 month later, they wouldn't fit! I went from 36"-38" waist to 30" waist now...so I have a bunch of 34 jeans that don't fit and are like new. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I have this problem, but it was a waste of money! But considering how much money I spend on buying new dirt bikes and dirt bike parts, this is minor!

Check out this PLUMP fella 🤣:FB IMG 1764547003544 1

Here is the new fit and trim version, lol:

Yoga and Moto, never would have put those two together but probably makes sense.

Even though I’m trying to drop more weight I’m in pretty good shape for the most part.  Other than I’m about as limber as a bowling ball.

I probably know more about speaking Klingon from watching Star Trek as a kid as I do about Yoga.  My wife says it’s really hard, I wouldn’t do very good at it and not like it.  My understanding it’s really good for getting limber.

To learn about it, do ya watch a YouTube video, go join a class.  I’m not single so marrying a Yoga instructor is out of the question.  My wife said if I went to yoga class at Gold’s gym where I work out I’d be disappointed cause I could do what they were doing.  She knows me pretty well.  I’m pretty sure I can stream a yoga class through Silver Sneakers, one of the few benifits to being old.

That's great! I still have hope then! I'm 37, and in the last couple years, the weight only seems to add and never subtract. That is really on me though and just being lazy about it. Thanks for the kick in the ass!
