It's not drag racing or Nascar where you need the machine to do one thing. Motocross requires the bike to handle many different things well. Setting up for one aspect makes another worse. Never going to have a bike that does all things great. These guys want a bike that does all things great so they'll always have something to talk about. Settling on what you need a bike to do well vs what you can tolerate it not doing well and setting up accordingly is the trick, but easier said than done. I wonder if that's part of the...

Pic of an 8x10 (pre-digital era unfortunately…). On my 93 CR125. Hard to see, but I was wearing one of the Bieffe helmets that weighed about 10 lbs, and the visor paint peeled almost immediately. Total pile. AXO gear was dialed, though.

I don’t think the MXGP guys make great money. 99% can’t do their own gear deals, inFront is damn near a criminal organization with their prize money and I would assume they’re taxed a bit higher. I’m not sure about the taxes though. Probably depends on where they live.

I don't have a problem with guys modding their bikes to the bejeezus. It's their money. My issue is when they flex on you in the pits, imparting their knowledge of all things Enzo and Twisted while they evaluate your stock-ish looking YZ250 2 stroke. Then they roll around the track with their azz on the seat, and clearly would be better suited with an XR400.

just listened. I'm summarizing, but he basically says when news first broke, he wanted to be loyal to Lucas until more facts came out. Then he said he just "couldn't take it anymore" and fired him. Reading between the lines, I hear him sorta saying "The risk isn't worth the reward with Mirtl..." but that's just my take.

He caught a rock in the goggles and had to toss them early in moto one. Then a few laps later crashed and got hurt. Unfortunately a lot of sad little people have taken the opportunity to pile on. I just hope he’s not hurt bad, having one of the top contenders out of the points this early is disappointing enough.

Mirtl might have the right to stay silent but he definitely doesn’t have the ability.
