4/30/2021 10:03am I'd go full Hinson with the LightSpeed cover. If you are going to seriously race it though, going to a billet Hinson cover will offer much more protection I think. But a lot heavier.

One big thing I've found over the years since this thread took off.... you cant beat OEM! I tested between the standard shock and the Ohlins, which was re valved specifically for the bike, and I preferred the standard shock. The RMZ450 link also got dumped and replaced for stock. I've also ditched the A-Kits and KYB 48mm forks I trtied in favour of standard 47mm RM forks. It's really fun to play around and build a cool one off bike, but in the interest of performance you're better off keeping it pretty standard. I think the main issue is...

Been enjoying watching your progress...great work! Soon, I'm gonna start on my own first build project. I recently bought a 1980 yz 125 that is pretty much a spray can renovation, done as a coffee table bike. From a distance and in photos, it looks prety good and Im sure the previous owner was happy with how it turned out. My intention is to rebuild it from the ground up so that its better than new mechanically, with the best suspension Race Tech has to offer and lots of other good stuff you can get for these old bikes that...

4/17/2021 6:17pm The Bill's is sort of like the OEM on steroids. Probably similar bottom, smooth into the midrange, then plenty of overrrev, Make sure you get one of the newer ones, since they made changes when they re-tooled their 2-stroke line in 2015 or so.

My pops built Carlsbad Raceway in 1967 and had his first race there in February 1968. My brother Marc built the Carlsbad Replica track at The Ranch and it may have not been identical but it was damn close and I saw grown men cry after riding it !

The apex head changes the characteristics of this motor. Much less of a "light switch" when it hits the powerband, broadens the hit (more then the FWW) and has more overrev and pulls out of corners better, closer to a 4 stroke feel if that makes sense, but still 2 stroke fun when it hits the pipe. 4/1/2021 8:49am The pics arent pretty right now...rad shrouds, left radiator, subframe, DEP pipe, PC 304 silencer all pretty F'd up. EVERYTHING will be new, and it will look like new, with the exception of the nipples worn off the tires.

4/1/2021 7:52am I've got a 2020 with 6.1 hours on it that will be coming for sale here as soon as I can use my hands again. Will have all new 2021 plastics as well as the brand new stock exhaust, bars, grips, etc.

Sweet bike! But isn't a "legit" spoke with my wallet thread is when someone purchases a new 2 stroke? Proving to manufactures that there is still a market for new 2 stroke development.
