Finally got the bars on tonight, but I can't stand how tall they sit on these forks compared to my KTM. These Pro Taper bar mounts have to be riders over the stock height, it still looks like a harley handlebar to me.

i'm thinking about spending the cash and just getting the Ride Eng. single piece bar mount, i'm not really digging how the cockpit felt when i sat on it tonight.

I'll take the handguards if you want to get them out of the garage!

Just put the one piece on my ‘05 I just finished. You will need to drill out the rubber dampers in the triples, but I am on the same side as you with wanting a slim and low cockpit height. Can’t recommend enough.

Haven't updated this thread in a while, but finally got to ride it out at E-Street last weekend. My brother and I went for a couple of hours and quickly realized we were the odd fish out as it was apparently testing day for all of the pro locals getting ready for the summer nationals.

Anywho, learned a couple of things about this bike.

1. The clutch is nowhere near as bad as I thought it was

2. The brakes are absolutely worse than I thought they were.

3. I should have paid much more attention to the fack that the guy I bought it from could have played nose tackle, it's clearly set up for somebody 275-300 lbs and the forks were just awful

Once we reduced the idle speed, it ran crispy and perfect all day. The bolt that decided to upgrade itself from an 8MM to a 10mm stripped itself out, so had to zip tie that.

Next step is to get the suspension re-done at least for the correct spring rates, as well as add a brembo master cylinder and maybe an ebay special 270mm big brake kit for the front.

Here's a video of my brother riding it, I forgot my GoPro at home and didn't have a mount on my new Shoei.

Made some progress tonight, attempted to re-pack the muffler but that quickly went to shit when i bent the fuck out of the core and couldn't get the silencer cap off to rig my ghetto spark arrestor. Today was just kind of a shit day in general, but I got the idle sorted out and it sounds crispy, so I suppose you have to take the bitter with better in life.

Tomorrow I'm going to hit the PC pipe with some steel wool, scouring pads, and a light bit of dremel polishing. I also purchased my first propane torch so I'm gonna try and blue up the welds as well.

The muffler bearings are in good shape, so I won't have to replace them but the blinker fluid is looking a little tired.

I wouldn't mourn that PC silencer, they had a really good knack of cracking rhe mounting bracket and falling off.

I never tried the Bill's, but I found fmf fatty to be the best paired with a stock silencer.... fwiw the stock silencer measures the same as the fmf powercore

Yeah, I have the stocker as well. I’m going to ditch the Turbinecore and rotate between the 304 and the stocker.

People severely underrate most OEM R&D departments, there is minimal to little gain on most aftermarket exhausts for final year Japanese 2 strokes.

I bought a very low hour 07 last year. I believe it's the thirteenth RM250 I've owned but have been riding an RMZ250 since 07. The linkage appeared to have never been repacked when new so it was seized. Had the suspension serviced locally but the forks were still gruesome and wouldn't settle at all so it refused to turn. Had FC do the forks, sweet now. Motor was just too explosive after years on a four stroke so on went a 10 oz. FWW and some V-force reeds. Getting closer but then I couldn't get it slowed down so on went a 280mm rotor. Now it works! Motor is still huge compared to my RMZ290 or 20 RMZ250 but boy does it handle.

Do yourself a favor and forgo the PC pipe/silencer and go with Bills Pipes and Silencer.
How does the bills change the power curve? I have a pro circuit platinum and it killed the bottom end on my 04. Been a fan of the stock pipe. Putting on an R304 gives a nice pop to her on idle really barks when you pin it.

The Bill's is sort of like the OEM on steroids. Probably similar bottom, smooth into the midrange, then plenty of overrrev, Make sure you get one of the newer ones, since they made changes when they re-tooled their 2-stroke line in 2015 or so.
