Maybe... Technology in racing is always trying to make the vehicles "easier" to go fast on. That is where the true advantage of the 4 stroke is in mx right? Look at F1 as the perfect example. the restrictions placed on downforce, tires, electronic driver aides etc... are all to make it so it is not as easy to go...

This might come across bad but I don't think deaths at the Pro level are the concern. It is the death of children that will get the government involved and that will be the end of our sport. Matthes's point of view was that it need to come from the top down (start at the OEM and Pro level) to...

Agreed on the track at Lorretta's. They do a great job on that. However... As stated by posters in other threads, he can kick 250f's out of schoolboy 2 etc... creating a system that promotes the jump from an 85 to a 125 to finally a 250f once a certain age/racing history has been achieved is very doable and well...
I've had my cr250 ported with head mods and a bunch of other things thrown in to add bottom end and smooth it all out. Sometimes the initial design of the engine is too far off from an ideal "torque" motor that no amount of work will get you to your ideal. Just my experience. And don't get me wrong...
Sorry if someone else has already answered your question. A full blown race motor really depends on what you want out of it. Normally it would just be porting/head mods and a pipe. There isn't much else you can do to them. While he is one of the more budget friendly options, Porting/ head mods for a 125 from Eric...

Gotcha, thanks. I actually rode that track a few months ago when the peewees were on the main track. I didn't realize it was supposed to be supercross. It was relatively tame and not maintained at all but I can see where it once would have been way out of my league. Acp and motoland are the 2 I was...

I live in AZ and all of the SX practice tracks I am aware of require an AMA pro card to ride them. Curious which track if you don't mind?

While I know the amateur rules are different I do believe the pro rules directly affect amateur riders decisions. I think that this Australian MX1 riders thoughts sum it up perfectly(don't pay attention to the whiny tone if possible): Jacob Wright – CDR Yamaha MX1 rider: If it was up to me, I’d make the two-strokes a separate class. At...
I agree the yz is good as is. I don't believe I made any suggestions as to what should be changed. The only statement I made is that for sales to increase it needs changes/updates. Look at the entire 4 stroke market. It can be argued that most of the "upgrades" that have been done to the bikes over the...
If what wins and is raced in pro racing does not effect the sales numbers for the OEMs then why do they spend any money on pro racing? As far as the 4t exc's go, those are street legal. the 2t varient isn't in most places so comparing sales figures isn't apples to apples. 2 strokes suck for highway type...
KTM 250SX (13-15) and Husky TC250 are both homologated for their 2015 models... therefore you must be talking about Yamaha. Please name 1 mx bike in history that has sold well that has no updates for 10 years? I wonder how many 2015 air boxes and plastic kits Yamaha has sold vs 2015 YZ's? That's the route everyone I know...

Sitting at a track and listening to how out of tune most 2 strokes are makes me cringe. the average Joe hasn't really been taught proper jetting so they never really get to feel what a well tuned 2 stroke feels like. That alone is enough for many to move on to 4 strokes in my opinion. For that reason...
