Good question! Dungey won the 450 SX & MX titles as a rookie in the same year, 2010. Lawrence raced 250 SX, then 450 MX (as a rookie) in the same year, 2023, and he won the 450 SX title as a rookie the following year, 2024. I didn’t explain that very good. So, technically, Lawrence won both 450 titles as a rookie, but not in the same year. Oh yea, I’m old, and lived through, and raced, during the 2-stroke era. Carmichael, Dungey, Roczen, & Ferrandis won the 450 MX series as rookies. Carmichael’s title was when the class was still called 250 MX, as 4-strokes hadn’t taken over at the time.

I think McGrath had the greatest rookie season. Jett had 24 motos outdoors on the 450 in 2023… so he knew the chassis, power, and handling very well. Although the set-up is different, he had the same chassis going into SX in 2024. McGrath went from a 125 outdoors in ‘92, to the 250 indoors in ‘93, then back to the 125 outdoors in ‘93. Also, looking at the win percentage, if you’re a numbers person, McGrath comes out on top. Both are phenomenal riders, but I give the nod to MC.

No mention of Prado? That seems, to me anyhow, to be a big offseason question. Will he podium? Will he be a consistent top 5 guy… top 10 guy? I hope he stays healthy indoors, and gives the boys a run for their money outdoors. The more competition, the better. Us fans are the lucky ones!

I thought a 5th or 6th place overall in SX would be a great 1st full season. You'd have to think, Jett, ET, CS, HL and CW will be at the pointy end of things but natural attrition will play its part- odd injury and crashes etc. I am thinking a close battle in MX with CS, Jett and Prado for the title.

Nice surprise on a Saturday morning to find another podcast! Thanks for the time to do this for the huddled masses. I've commented here before but the power shift to the US is not money (as you both mentioned) its the challenge. The stars have aligned and look at the potential 2026 outdoor 450 series rider list - Jett, Chase, Hunter, Prado, Deegan as the top level draw cards, great, for the most part tracks, every round of SX and MX you are only away 2 to 3 nights from home, same food, same country, only 4 time zones to...

Hunter said he’s not materialistic… Sexton should have asked him what color his Porsche is, LOL. I’m sure he won’t buy anything with his 1st, 2nd or 3rd place championship money either. Track looks like it might be a follow the leader situation… it looks extremely tight in some areas. Enjoy the racing everyone!! 👍

Few things stood out: 1 -The pace of E.T and Jett- didn't really expect that before hand, but then at the end was like, oh yeah, these dudes are FAF. 2 - The track was ok and will never please everyone so fair play to what was provided. 3 - The T.V coverage was a cast of millions but they just need 2 for the actual races. If they want more there, have them doing pit walks and rider chats between the races. JS is the best in the box. 4 - Weigandt seems to have got very shouty lately...
