Hope you warmed up before making that wild stretch.
For example, see this recall for 12 600 CRF250 and 450 sold in the US in 16 months (2025 up until april 2026).
https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2026/American-Honda-Motor-Recalls-Off-Road…
That's 9450 total over 12 months, if anything 4k each annually might be on the low side.
I’m not familiar with Triumph at all. Are any of these issues due to being manufactured in Thailand? Or is this business as usual from Triumph regardless of where it’s made?
The Shop
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
I’m in total agreement with Brad on this.
Also, I’ll reiterate my thoughts on Triumph’s dilemma and the easiest way to “do it right”…
Build COMPLETE ENGINES with all the “New & Improved” parts and crate them…and ship them to Triumph dealers for installation.
Leaking Castings/Bad Castings
Transmission Failures
Clutch Failures
Valve Rocker Failures
Tearing engines down to repair/replace all these issues at the dealer level is EXPENSIVE &…let’s be clear…
This just doesn’t look good. Period.
All the while, a complete engine from the factory costs less than most of us in here would believe and it sends the message that Triumph so serious about…
Taking care of their customers….and their brand.
Name a manufacturer that recalled ALL first year mx models sold, citing “risk of death.” We’ll wait.
Things haven’t faired well for them since the TR6.
TR8…it had a moment…didn’t it?
Yep!
How so? His avatar is a bike that puts out 25hp more, has better technology, less maintenance, and no recalls.
Honda should’ve with the 97 CR250…😂
😂😂😂
KTM with the 1/4 turn gas cap around 2007.
Did you forget the 🤣 or the /s?
👨❤️👨👬🧚♀️😁
Not quite the same. Every dealer just got a box of new gas caps to hand out. That's how it worked at the dealership I was at.
And everyone trimmed the tabs on the new caps so they wouldn't stick, so was it really a fix once out in the hands of customers?
Now Polaris on the other hand...
Multiple stop sales and recalls for faulty fuel tanks, pumps, lines, etc... both snowmobiles and UTVs. We were doing those recalls constantly, along with ECUs on the ATVs...
Not that it would kill you, but IIRC Suzuki recalled every single 1st year RMZ450 to replace the cases. They were breaking at the kickstarter shaft.
Honda had a recall on every single Rancher ATV in the mid 2000s for bad steering rod ends. That one could kill you I suppose. I changed out so many rod ends. Was good money. Flat rate time from Honda was an hour and I could do the job in 15min.
Wasn't there a Recall on All CRF's last year because the bars would slip? I'm not an engineer but that could possibly cause death.
Pit Row
A rider was killed from that bar clamp issue.
And the KTM gas cap issue sucked. I must have gotten five different caps for my 2005.5 250SXF. Every one of them would eventually dump gas in your lap if you filled the tank over 2/3 full.
I know of one guy up here that has a 450 and and kid over on the JMC team that's on a 250, both of them love the bikes so far.
They legally have to say it can cause death, like the crf bar mounts and husky brake caliper issues.
Is this the same issue Keefer was referring to Loretta's 2025?
I had to pickup a used 2001 Cr 250 to race back here in Oregon as My Triumph Goat model sits in the shop in Texas. Looking forward to the 2 Stroke Sunday at Eugene Mx. Thanks for thinking of me you ahole......Seannnnnny.......
Geez. I didn’t say anything to deserve that.
The least you can do is post some trophy pics after you destroy the field.
The " risk of serious injuries or death" bit in the recall seems a bit over dramatic.
( Is this a lawyer thing?)
There is a risk of injury or death every time you get on a motorcycle, even a perfect motorcycle with no faults
. Maybe there should be a warning label on motorcycle's just like some tobacco & alcohol products
Maybe that would be dramatic enough to keep the lawyers happy
I seem to remember when 4 strokes were introduced there were lots of blown engines from all manufacturers, yet did any manufacturer do recalls? Or did they just say to owners - it's your fault, you didn't maintain it properly, its a 4 stroke it needs a rebuild every 5 minutes.
The units sold in US are very concerning for offroad market in general. It is tiny. Imagine trying to field a factory team with making 300USD OEM Margin on those units . You can barely lease a sprinter Van for the year with that money .
You can blame it on Triumph for being bad at business , even though they seem to do it about as well as all the others. The overall market is the same for the other manufacturers too . Very slim margins , tiny market overall units wise, Marketing Expense (Pro Racing Team ) in no correlation to what you can earn unless you think it has a positive effect on the rest of your product range (if you have one ) . Maybe Im too negative but I dont see the appeal for anyone to invest into dirtbikes at all. Suzuki seems to have it figured out , same platform for 20yrs , selling lots of other stuff and way more focused on road bikes and other industries in general.
That's because people on this board carefully think about what they are about to say and choose their words carefully
Since when lol?
It is a lawyer thing, if it says could cause serious injury only and you die then there is grounds for a suit at that point.
