He handled last year exactly the way he needed to in order to make sure he wouldn’t have to waste another year of his career with Kawi, and that decision has been completely justified

You guys realize if he “handled last year better” he wouldn’t have been able to break the contract and get onto a team capable of winning, right?

Right here, I was very critical of Prado. I was wrong, very wrong, and I will be wrong about something else again - probably today even. Evidently Kawasaki was/is shit.

Wonder what Chase is thinking?

Dude, exactly what I thought. Jorge's turnaround has to make Chase want off the green pig even more

Maybe the KX327 will be homologated.

I also think it’s great that he’s giving it his best efforts this year. I’m definitely happy for him and was rooting for him tonight.

Is he being a crybaby too?

The guy who won multiple races on the same bike and never tried to NOT qualify for a race?  Sexton is vocal and says what he is thinking, but he was nothing like Prado LAST YEAR.

I was a critic last year for sure, I really didn't like how Jorge handled himself.  The BS at Budds Creek, just seemed so out of character for ANY racer, it was wildly frustrating.  Why?  Because I was a big fan.  Vialle set the standard for how to come over from the GP's and when Jorge came over, I wanted to see him racing near the front and doing his thing.  That's not what we got.

However, and whatever the reasons were, he simply was out of sorts on the Kawasaki.  Blame whoever you like, the team couldn't fix it and he couldn't help them fix it...  I don't think I fully believed the bike and team was 100% the issue.  How he acted, probably made the perception of what was going on worse.

But, he has quite clearly proven, that he was just simply in a bad situation and the only solution was getting out of it.  Now, he's showing us who he is and it's what we thought he would be.  It was hard to be/stay a fan last year.  But this Prado is the real deal and what I expected.  I was cheering for him in moto 2 the whole way.

Next to Chad Reed starting 22 Motorsports, Jorge is probably the greatest example of self-belief and betting on one's self our sport has ever seen.

Anther example that comes to mind is Brad Lackey going to Europe on a 10-year quest to become world champion when America wasn't even on the motocross map.

I definitely felt he was an excuse making crybaby. I'm happy to be proven wrong in this case. He's earned respect for sure.

Everything that happened last year was interpreted with the belief that Prado was wrong. Nobody really believed him that it was the bike and he could win on something else, they just thought he couldn't adapt to the US and couldn't handle that, acted like a spoiled brat, etc. Going back and looking at it now, he was right, so interpreting it all with the hindsight of realizing he was right, it's pretty easy to root for him now. Doesn't mean he handled it perfectly, but he was right and he proved it. Knowing what we know now, who really wasted who's time last year? Who disrespected who?

How many people have suggested chase just go through the motions and collect a paycheck for two more years? I can respect it that Prado didn't even consider doing that and bet on himself. I was wrong. He was right. He wins. Respect. Hope chase does the same thing.

Very impressive what Prado has done this year.,

He should be an example for all the young boys and girls out there. If you actually try your results will improve. You too can go from 6th to 4th in your MX series. Or maybe even 9th in another series.

Thank you for making this thread.

Just shows how many idiots there are on this forum.

In fact, in hindsight it was a complete waste of time arguing with them.

It is unfathomable to me how these overweight Vitards sit at the keyboard and have the nerve to say things like “disgrace”, “embarrassment” about a 4x World Champion. In 10 lifetimes they’ll never achieve what Prado has. Or any other champion for that matter.

Anyway. This is my last comment on this forum after this nonsense. It’s a colossal waste of time.

Massive respect to all the racers that do what they do. These keyboard warriors, not so much.

Huh? Nobody believed it was the bike? Plenty of people thought it was the bike. And they thought he was a quitter. Both things can be true

I definitely think Sexton was being a ‘crybaby’ if the stories of him ‘phoning it in’ before he was injured are true. And I think that those are mostly true.

Both things can be true, but Marchbanks being better than Prado was something a lot of people thought would happen this year.

“Multiple”

Making ‘two’ sound more than it really is… technically you’re correct, you could just say “two races”.

I'm right here. He's fast yeah but I'm still not a fan. He was fast last year but decided not to try.

I stand behind my opinion on him. You can be good and talented and still be an asshole lol there are plenty around.

He did not handle it exactly the way he should have. What people are forgetting here is that Jorge wasted other people’s time, energy, and money. They have every right to be upset.

According to Steve Matthes, Chase Sexton is likely going to be leaving Kawasaki.  But Sexton went about it in a completely different way.  One that unlike Jorge, is respectful and professional. Both camps have admitted they are working as hard as possible to get it figured out.

Jorge rode around to purposely not qualify, so put me in the camp of those who are not a fan. He didn’t even have the best moto scores overall in SMX.  He won the title because he came seeded higher than the second place guy.  So while all this might be redemption for him personally, he still went about his relationship with Kawasaki the completely wrong way.

Props to Prado, he did good. That final moto was awesome.

Props to Deegan too, Prado won because Deegan was in the 250 class for Supercross, and didn't get the points that Prado did going in.

He was the 4th best in motocross, and 9th in supercross. He peaked at the right time, but circumstances were on his side too.

Cry baby, or knew that his situation was shit and he couldn’t perform like he knew he was capable?

I’m sure you wouldn’t stay with a company if it sucked and there was the potential for a better opportunity.

I've been in this situation for work with a respectable, large company that many would be (and are) stoked to work for.  I was too!

When I took the job I was on the cutting edge of a particular technology.  Once hired, I discovered that they were outsourcing the majority of development of that tech.  After a year, I knew that I needed to move on for the sake of my career.

However, I had a 2 year contract, with them having an option for the 3rd year.

When they exercised the option late, I was able to decline, and exit on good terms.

The bottom line is that we had an agreement, and both parties kept it.  That's the way it's supposed to work.  I didn't leave after a year.

And if he had handled it professionally how exactly would he have gotten out of his Kawi deal? Chase had a bike malfunction and can say he doesn’t trust it.

As far as I know, not a single moto journalist has been able to get any Kawasaki team leader to go on the record to say Prado intentionally tried to not qualify at Budds Creek. If someone has a link to that statement, let’s see it. Because all I have ever seen is people outside of the team making speculative statements about it, and the hoi polloi taking it as gospel truth.

How many other riders won 2 or more SX races??

Not sure how you come up with that take.  Multiple is literally anything more than 1.
