This weekends race was garbage

So, the race was much like your post?

It had a lot of interesting elements: Davies drama, new first winners, including Deegan's first win. Roczen back with a passion. H Lawrence melt-down. Prado resurgence, It was a brutal race but I found it enjoyable to watch.

the vast majority of the field isn't there to win, just to finish 3 more races for the paycheck... this is particularly bad at the 1st rd because you can do poorly there and more than make up the pts at rd2 and 3... 

Except if you are Ando…

It was a rain race. It’s all a part of racing. Even the Malcolm jump to landing on Jason…

I enjoyed it. But i also fully understand and love moto. Yeah, not every broadcast is the best. 

No mudder is a good mudder.

never been a fan of SX mudders..........negates all the spectacle watching the field plod along in 1st gear....

leave the mudders to the great outdoors.

Survival of the fittest 

I found it boring not so much because it was a mud race, but just because of the SMX playoffs in general.

Still feels to me like a massive gimmick. Especially how for some reason you get more points in the next 2 races. Why arnt all 3 races the same amount of points? Just seems like manufactured drama so the last race always comes down to the wire.

Just my opinion.

Next track map looks terrible too, zero motocross features and no whoops, as expected. Just a money grab arena cross

I didn’t enjoy the race, I’m happy others did though.

Mudders are survival of the fittest… Don’t understand how anyone can’t be entertained. You have to ride at the highest level to win those types of races. Takes an extreme level of skill. Too see someone like Deegan lap up to 7th and 8th place to go 1 - 1 is insane. He took calculated risks and he rode consistently fast once again. His starts were again on point… Lapped the champion in motocross twice. That’s not easy to do.

I don't always agree with Matthes but I'm kinda in his camp as far as SMX is concerned. Feels forced. Roczen is SX champ. Hunta's the outdoor champ. Throw in the MXdN and Bercy and I'm good. I'm not getting excited about a race in Carson California. 

This is exactly how I feel about it. 

Does being SMX champion overshadow the SX and outdoor champion? Not in my mind. 

I don’t really care who is SMX champ. I’ll only value the SX & outdoor champs. 

I never follow Enduro, find it really boring, it doesn't feel like racing...more like 'wood adventures'...anyway, not taking away anything from Deegan but he was not fast either, not really 'sending it', it didn't look 'cool', more like he rode in mud on a farm field in Kansas after heavy rain...

So props to Deegan, well done... but that was far from fast cool flashy racing...

First race I turned off. Track was rubbish, Racing was garbage. SMX sucks.

Same.  A couple laps into the first 450 moto I just genuinely lost all interest.  The event, the stadium itself, the mud, the points structure making the first round a null…just didn’t care at all

SX mud races are boring. I’ve never watched one and been excited about it.

The Chinese GP was more of a hybrid track than superdupercross was; man made obstacles without any elevation, and most of it could be seen from grandstands. 
While muddy supercrosses are never good, a dumbed down SX track doesn’t equal a hybrid course whatever the weather is.

Even dry, I’m not a fan of SMX.  Give these guys a break.

For the first time in a long time, i didnt get to watch live, and by the time i could i already didnt care. 

Will try again for round 2. 

They had a Grand National Champ back in the day with total points from SX and Outdoors.

I hate the SMX circus and believe it cheapens the original titles with 50 yrs of heritage.

Maybe a stand alone Grand National Champion one round at LA Coliseum  with a $1mil purse take all.

Mud races are acceptable for an outdoor race where the terrain can deal with it. Even in the present era of ripped, and groomed tracks.

But SX races, where the soil is brought in, packed and shaped into an artificial course that turns to peanut butter slop when it rains... not acceptable. 

A sloppy race like that is, for the most part, a lucky roll of the dice as to the outcome. 

SMX finals are dying.

Mostly empty stadium for the first round, , non-stop waterboarding by Feld to buy tickets for the LA round on social media, which maybe means slow ticket sales. 

Final round to be held in middle of nowhere with a decent chance of rain. 

 I don't know about most people, but I sure as fuck am not going to wherever hillbilly hell Ridgedale Missouri is to watch the Final. 

I'm probably not alone,  people in that part of the country are hurting due to 7 dollar Diesel and layoffs, and their rigs are staying parked in their driveway.

I don’t know the viewership rating for the first round but they can’t be close to what the promoters want. 

I’m over it.  Bring on the MXDN

There needs to be some kind of ratings readout for how many turned it off before the end of the broadcast. 

I tuned in, but a few minutes into the 1st 450 moto, I'd heard, and seen enough.

But mostly I'd heard enough.

They need to re-think the SMX track design. Personally, I'd prefer outdoor track with 1/2 an SX track in the main spectator area. These SMX tracks are nothing more than an SX track...

I just realised that i am paying to not watch it too.

I thought they were hauling ass, oh wait I just remembered it was so exciting I watched 95% of the race on fast forward.   

Unfortunately, it was a perfect‑storm setup for a dud. SX track with no whoops. Small venue in a city that isn't on top of anyone's calendar. The FMOTP sidelined. The 250 class has been pretty flat for the third straight year from a “favorite” standpoint. The points system kind of makes it so the last race is what really matters for the most part.  And sure, the 450s could have been interesting competitively, but the weather making the race a mudder sucked every last ounce of excitement out. Can't really do much about the weather, but I think these races should be at speedways only and be true mx/sx hybrid tracks.

I too fast forwarded most of it lol. 
SX mud races suck. I generally hate mud races of any kind. I want to watch the top guys running at their top level not dabbing their way around the track both feet off the pegs at 1/4 speed then be excited that they jumped a double in the mud that is no big deal when dry.
