I replied to Lewis Phillips post on X to speak about this subject tonight on Pulp.
I remember same discussions at local level when mudders were imminent. On one hand it’s motocross and we race in all conditions, on the other hand is it worth costs when you know it’s likely motos will be cut short or afternoon motos cancelled altogether. I didn’t have to worry about the motors, just my pride and points 🙂

Cool picture but no i am not in it. I live on the other side of Washington and only made it over to Woodland I think 3 times, maybe 4. The 2 pictures I posted were the first trip over when i was 16 racing 125 C class. I had started racing just that spring. This race marked the first and only time I ever got run over and my first proper mud race. I struggled BIG TIME in the mud crashing multiple times.
I got run over in practice, right over my butt! I fell in a left hander in practice and I swear about 3 seconds had elapsed before the guy ran me over. So much time that i believe he had time to search out the soft spot on my body for which to amuse himself riding over me but not hurt me.
I went back once in 92 and 93 in 250 intermediate but never did any good. I just couldn't flow there but it was nice to do a race in the winter just to have fun and I always enjoyed the drive down the gorge. I did the Ridgefield AX once or twice too.

Pardon my ignorance on the matter, but does Feld control SX/SMX until they choose to relinquish ownership, or is there some sort of contractural limit? Just wondering what it would take for a different promoter to step in (if that's even possible).
Back before they cut all the trees down! Woodland made many riders very competent in the mud! Spent a lot of years riding there and it was actually one of my favorite tracks. Got myself some hardware there over years and got put on the Woodland swag for 1998 even.

They own the promotional rights to Supercross. The AMA is the sanctioning body.
Think how Liberty owns Formula 1 but the sanctioning body is the FIA.
Technically, yes, Feld can sell off their rights at any time. They are not the first owner, nor will they be the last. The chain of ownership goes back to Mickey Thompson and the fallout after his death.
Outdoors is a completely different thing. AMA Pro Racing is not the same as the AMA. Each National more or less had their own promoters. When the AMA sold off AMA Pro Racing to the France family (NASCAR), they in turn leased the rights to the Coombs family who brought it all under the MX Sports banner. This is also part of the reason why Glen Helen no longer hosts a National. At least if you take GH's promotor for it.
I thought I saw something that said Feld had extended their contract until well after 2035, but can't seem to locate it now. Feld has Monster committed to 'their' series through 2030 so it lasts at least that long and probably has a several year 'buffer', meaning that they would have to have 2-3 seasons advance notice if their contract was not going to be renewed/extended.
Weege announces races for Feld and MXSports but for his other employer he reports on the races? Conflict of interest? But his employer who he writes about the races for also runs the outdoor series? Oh boy. And poor JT, to keep this dream job of his he has to spew out company bullshit that you can tell gags him as he says it, on pulp's review his defending the decisions behind Feld's screw ups made me feel embarassed for him, it was laughably preposterous.
What a business model. Get this:

I think some of you miss the point of SMX. SMX get SX and MX the best TV package EVER and got the riders the biggest payday ever. The place was sold out and there was a ton of excitement for the 1st round of SMX. I know a lot of fans did not show up due to weather, but tickets were sold at at a high price. All is good, just a same it rained.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the teams are paid a significant amount to race SMX based on finishing position

Pretty sure the riders get the purs for SMX you may be thinking of wsx that the teams get paid and then pay the Riders
Nope it's paid to the teams....and most teams just give it to the riders...but not all

ALL of the major teams have sponsorship deals with aftermarket brands and other companies and are obligated to race to promote those products.
The OEM's play the game to "sell bikes" correct? What consumer is purchasing a bike based on supercross results when no average joe rides supercross?
Smaller stadium in the circuit is a joke for the series as a playoff, Star should pull everyone but Davies/deegs and pay them the bike savings

The managers/staff affected don't want statements on record; they don't want to rock the boat any further.
Feld isn't producing a statement on the matter, but pointed to the penalty report that will be released Wednesday. It was hinted that this might all get redacted by the time the penalty report actually hits. Whether that means they will actually address it or just pass it off like it didn't happen, we'll have to wait until Wednesday to see that part.
