Don't forget they are banning a bunch of the media next year.

Talk about controlling the narrative

They aren't "banning" a bunch of the media next year. They're changing how they do things as far as media goes, but that's not the same as being banned.

I agree. Back in the day the major teams might choose to run their practice bike because they did not want to destroy the race bike.

Edit:

THIS THREAD IS NOT ABOUT DANIEL BLAIR

Just wrapping up listening to this week's Pulp Review and apparently comments made in a private text message has resulted in multiple team managers (STAR & Triumph) being barred from attending next weekends race because they were critical of this weekend's event.

[REDACTED] and now even text messages exchanged in private will boot you from events. What the hell is happening?

1:16:45 here :https://pulpmx.com/podcast/columbus-smx-2026-review/

YouTube: https://youtu.be/ye1Q9zu4frM?t=4486

Probably been mentioned already a dozen times, but it doesn't sound like this was a 'private' text message situation.

Still, if what the Pulp guys are saying is correct, it sounds like this wasn't much of a dig at the sport or of management.  I think that there has to be a LOT more to the story to have it get this far.

My apologies for the upcoming perhaps bad analogy.

Its like impossible to achieve environmental regulations. In essence it is a ban if you stranglehold something so tight.

Perhaps ML can chime in on any new developments in this area.

JT already has. Used to be one of my favorite people to listen to, but now I can’t stand listening to the corporate kiss ass.

  refreshing when he is out

Weege was annoying this week on the review show. Constantly defending the track and stadium. Who the hell actually though the arena was sick enough for the “playoffs.”

Oh I know but his expectations of having a full account of what happened and already complaining before the industry even wakes up on a Monday!! That's some next level expectations right there.

There would have to be an agreement between the teams to run stock Motors in Rain races and would have to be checked because if one team runs their race bike it will be deemed as an advantage.

But yes common sense when my son was racing if it was a rain race and important we would still be on the practice bike not destroying the race bike but I'm poor LOL

I fully support this type of interaction. I think this reaction is justified. I also think this is a part of what makes Vital, well, a vital component of professional motocross today. There’s truly nothing else like it.

What if...and again, I know it's insane...but what if...this very site (VITAL) who is probably the biggest platform for news/info for our sport....picked up a phone....and ASKED FELD if this was true and their justification.

I know it's nuts, but boy, wouldn't that be interesting? 🙄

SX is totally piggy backed to Monster Jam for the stadium use, and dirt.  If Feld dumps SX, the stadiums and dirt are still tied up with Feld.

I like to think of Solutions to problems like this. The promotional body/Title sponsor relationship that would make at least some financial sense (don't laugh); a Video Game manufacturer teams with a Heavy Equipment manufacturer, then brings all the motorcycle manufacturers along as associate sponsors and approaches the venues that Feld has pissed off in the last 10 years.

If that all lined up, you might have a chance to sever ties with the Disney on Ice people.

Me on the left circa 1989 at Heutter Raceway Team flannel for the day. No way I'm staining my new jersey in pursuit of a 250B trophies.

And just because...a couple of mud pics from Woodland,  December 1986.

agreement between teams???? what are you talking about? why would any teams have to agree. If Im Lars and know we are going to burn up $50k in motors I would drop in two stock engines with and ecu and a"used" Yosh pipe. Who do I ave to get to agree with me exactly other than my boss?

Wait, I thought the AMA ran the race and Feld was just the promoter. So Feld is telling the AMA who to boot?

Either this goes deeper than burnt clutches and smoked race engines or someone at Feld got hurt in the feels?

Pass the popcorn please.

And the usual suspects on here would have been beyond livid if a one race format was implemented.

Yeah just listened to the podcast. Disgraceful, man this whole thing with SMX and FELD is just a joke. Please end it.

This is sooooo far off from a proper top level motorsport.

If 3 major team managers are banned and this brands decide not to show up at all, then what happens? Are there obligations to race if you are “in” the playoffs?

I’m sure FELD would change their minds pretty quick if Star, triumph and Ducati didnt show.
Would absolutely love to see these teams take a stand

They'll just fill those gates with more guys from the LCQ/Wildcard races. Until attendance and viewership takes a significant hit, they won't care.

In the circus of fools, if the monkeys revolt, the circus will find new monkeys. Ive all but stopped watching the sport. Its become nothing more than a huge corporate money grab. Rider purse has not what it should be given the increase in media coverage and corporate sponsorship compared to 25yrs ago. You have to pay to watch the racing from your home, and I feel like the SMX rounds are nothing more than feelers to see how SX would do in cheaper venues in an effort to maximize profits even more

Dang that’s an interesting point about the cheaper venue testing.

Thanks for the 450 purse, im talking smaller (non factory teams where riders are going to end of 8-15) per race payout which is alot less than what you're showing for the 250 class. Nice try though.

Thank you for sharing! That brings back some great memories.  Anybody who races that winter series deserves accolades for being a good mud rider,  and a boatload of sacrifice for a plastic trophy 😀

I am sure there’s a few of you in this photo, this is year-end award ceremony at Woodland, the arrow was pointed to me, I believe this was 1991, 125 junior in my case.
