Were being squeezed by everybody to the absolute maximum extent. I went to get a sandwich yesterday and the screen when you pay had 3 options for tip 25% 20% and 18%… 15% wasnt even an option and I didnt see any way to do no tip or add your own amount. The ppl at the counter got an 18% tip for handing me a sandwich. Also 1 buffalo chicken sub and 1 meatball sub was over $50. While i was sitting there eating I got a message that peacock is going up in price on my phone. It feels like were in the smash n grab phase right now where everybodys just trying to get as much money out of everyone as possible before SHTF. How high is peacock gonna go?

I agree with your sentiment. But dude, there was definitely a way to enter your own tip amount. You should have sacked up and asked the person behind the counter if you couldn't find how to do it. I would have entered zero of course. I got that peacock increase email, had it been a one dollar increase maybe I'da stayed, but two, is fucking robbery. So I cancelled and will watch highlights or motos that someone posts on YouTube. I'm raising two kids and paying rent, on top of all the other ridiculous expenses we are subject to these days. I've had it with subscriptions. I'm out.

It was for my dads birthday I 1000% am not doing that every day. I never go out to eat, he just wanted to go to this spot on his birthday. That said regardless of where you go these days its expensive as shit and theyre asking for ridiculous tips for nothing its crazy. That combined with the prices of everything being pushed up and up and up and up its nuts. When peacock first started it was 4.99, now its 12.99 a month, thats 155.88 a year now just to watch racing 1 day a week wtf bro.

I would have told the person behind the counter that I’m not tipping. I read through the thread, and good on you for taking your dad out to lunch on his birthday. I agree though, prices are getting ridiculous. The entire reason I signed up to peacock was because it was basically 5 dollars a month.
My cable bill started at less than a hundred and now it’s at 155. That’s just for internet. I’ve already cancelled Netflix and Amazon Prime. I’ll be calling my cable company next and they can reduce it or I’ll go elsewhere. It’s just getting out of hand.

Business owners changed the paradigm from tension between the boss and the worker over wages,,, to what it is now, tension between the worker and the customer. The boss has redirected who is the bad guy.
I have trimmed every place I can think of, and each month it just seems to get tougher. I pay for internet simply for the obvious, and Peacock is the only sub I have. I use a digital antenna, and Roku. I usually buy the same things at the store each month, and have basically replaced all the name brands I liked with store brands to help out. But within the last year, the off brands on some things are higher now than my favorites were a year ago! As for the tips? That is one of the few reasons I carry a little cash on me. I rarely eat out anymore, and it helps that I truly like to cook. It seems to me that unless you are VERY well off, you are feeling the squeeze just like everyone else, and having a small space to breathe in has all but vanished. My home insurance has gone through the roof, and every other company I've looked into has kicked their rates towards the heavens as well. Something has got to give......
Last week at the bank, I was talking to one of their loan officers who I've known for years. Speaking the cost of living, the economy, etc.... , he stated that "This sucker is about to pop...... If you don't need it, sell it. If you want to downsize, do it now. If you struggle to keep it, no matter what it is, get rid of it. Much darker days are just around the corner, prepare now and do not wait." He has been in the money game for over 40 years, and even he has begun getting rid of his toy collection..... I never thought I'd see the basic life needs become so much that a middle class home truly struggles month to month. Shit is horrible.
I get it free through Walmart+…and it’s still too much based on the last month of racing. Ironman and Columbus were painful to watch….both production and racing.
I tried that back in June and got no such offer. May work for some but certainly isn’t a catch all hack.
I already have YouTubeTV so I just watch RDL and the races live through the NBC Sports Network there. It’s been an easy switch and never had the language swap issue that others have experienced. The only downside is during the nationals when they go to commercial you get the split screen commercial thing. But everyone complains about the info graphic on their screen during that time anyways so I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything with a smaller screen during those brief times.

Businesses have to generate enough revenue to keep the lights on and make a profit. You can thank all the "living wage" increases as the largest factor. No need to have a skill, just entitled to max "X" because you can fog a mirror. The worst part is that sandwich and everything else is more expensive for them too, so their "living wage" is not that after all.

People keep paying these prices, I would keep raising rates too. Have you seen the price of the new iPhone coming out? $2k wtf and you're gonna see people walking around with their $7 Starbucks it's ridiculous. Diesel is up to 8 bucks.. out here. As long as the sheep keep paying these prices it won't get any better
If you sign up for Walmart+ then you get a choice of Peacock or Paramount+. It is just a subscription perk. I had standalone Peacock subscription from one of the Black Friday deals and when it went up I cancelled and never got a better offer from Peacock so I signed up for the Walmart+ deal.

Speaking of those ridiculous fuel prices, has anyone noticed anyone slowing down whatsoever? I’m old enough to remember people lamenting the 55 mph speed limit as a vestige of Carter era regulations.
I see everything from passenger cars to brodozers to 53’ semis absolutely hauling ass everywhere. Guess what? If y’all would slow down you wouldn’t use so much of that high priced fuel.
I’m really beginning to feel the same way about restaurants and most other discretionary spending establishments. If I don’t absolutely need it with no other option, I ain’t buying it. Just not worth it in so many ways.

"Living Wages" isn't the cause of what's currently happening right now. Wealth has shifted to the upper class significantly over the past 40 years and wealth inequality has reached levels seen pre-depression. Federal minimum wage hasn't increased since 2009 and the market is largely setting wages across the country. Blaming inflation on the working class is ridiculous.
I read it more as if you are thinking of selling something, do it now rather then wait. If we go into a recession they will be worth much less.
They drive just as fast but maybe are cutting back on simple 2 hour or more road trips. I know the last time fuel was high the wife and I went for the day up into the mountains to enjoy ourselves. We'll, $100 in gas later I decided I really didn't enjoy myself that much.
Same goes for restaurants and fast food. Before covid inflation i would eat at a sit down place once a month or so, fast food once a week. I can't remember the last time I had a sit down meal and fast food, maybe once every 6 weeks. It just isn't worth it.
Netflix used to be like $8 bucks a month and now it’s like $25. Disney+/HULU is without ads is like $20 bucks a month, I was able to get it with ads for $5 bucks a month around Christmas time. The ads suck tho, but I’m not paying $20 a month for that crap.
Theyve trained the people well to point at each other and not them.
