I could only imagine if I had to speak on a podcast, but it would have been my mother starting it, she tried her best for me not to sound like the locals. Thread title would be “why do you sound like such a redneck”. I don’t hear it at all unless I’ve been drinking. I too hate hearing my own voice. Actually, I enjoy regional dialects and have no idea what Lewis is doing in about half the time but enjoy it, non the less.

I feel you here ML. I have a deep southern accent and I mumble and talk fast. It's noticable here at home. I've worked on your coast quite a bit the last couple years. I get called out daily. Usually, within the first couple sentences.
I don't like hearing my on voice either. Everyday I have to log in to this radio type system and it repeats my voice back to me. Not a fan!! But what do you do? I've had mine for 55 years, it ain't changing now.

I think we shouldn't fixate on people's accents, colloquialisms, vernacular, etc., as long as what they are saying is quality. I'd much rather have a little vocal fry, British accent, whatever, than someone spewing garbage in a newscaster's voice. It's what makes people unique. 🤷

I agree that the voice delivery can be improved. My sister is a VP for a large company, and one of the things she had to work on for all the presentations she does is her vocal delivery. It was literally a requirement for her to get her next level up opportunity.

Being South Louisiana born and raised for 49 years then move to California I get strange looks all the time. I'm like Bobby Bouche' amongst a bunch of English professors. Pretty funny actually to be around so many proper speaking people that use words in a sentence that you would never in a million years hear or use in South La. I've spoken up on ML512 before as he often looses my attention by using too many words, but that is more of a me problem than a him problem. I have the attention span of a squirrel that squirrels out.
