Yeah but I hardly can tell when Reed is trolling or serious. Better would be a suggestion to fix it. Like DV pointed out about what Tomac should change in his setup.

Reed just wants to be the centre of attention.

I know it was months ago but I don’t remember anyone saying the bike was an issue early in the season. Heck the team rented southwick to spend extra time testing and setting up the bike. Obviously they do everything they can to give team 38 what they want. Where is this narrative all of a sudden coming from?

The irony of this is that Villopoto had a fairly hard time setting up his 450 compared to his 250. Obviously he worked it out in the end, but it wasn’t smooth right off the rip.

When did eli last win outdoors on one? The blue 450 isn't looking great on either side of the pond. I think the last time someone won an ama national on a Yamaha 450 was 2022. Maybe 2023 for the an mxgp overall win?  Not saying is the bike.  But it hasn't been overly competitive for wins by anyone for awhile...

To be fair Reedy was often proven right with his complaints and he does know a thing or two about badly mannered Yamahas, however if you put Prado or the Lawrence bros on Deegan’s bike, I bet it doesn’t look as bad.

Well, you need to ask Gajser about his new bike?😜

I would say it's got more to do with how he's trying to ride it like a 250

The cope with Deegan fans never runs out, not to mention the cognitive dissonance that the bike had nothing to do with his 250 success but he's losing on a 450 because of the bike. (Not directed at the op)

The perception of bikes has so much to do with who's riding them. When HRC was Sexton and Roczen people thought the Honda sucked and was too unstable, then all of a sudden Jett gets on it and it's the best bike in the field despite nothing changing.

The Yamaha was the best bike in the field not too long ago, but because Deegan can't win on it it seems like people think the Suzuki is better because Roczen won on it.

Also everyone seems to think HRC has a massive advantage on the start over everyone but Deegan and Webb have had massively improved starts this year on their bikes.

Addressing the subject matter of the op, other people in the thread have already mentioned it but it's pretty obvious his bike doesn't handle as well because he's slamming it into things and riding too high in the rev range.

It’s almost as if every rider has their own preferences in what they are looking for set up wise to help them ride at top speed…. Who would have thought?!? Dazzy is on record commenting on how previous Honda boys were miles off on set up for what jett and Hunter are looking for. These guys are splitting hairs at the top. Set up matters a lot when you are searching for tenths of a second. What jett done in 23 was fuckin insane, deegs should not be viewed as a failure because he hasn’t done the same….. all be it against a much faster field. You geezers hate the young buck so bad it’s clouding you're judgement.

Dazzy have also said that they are setting up the bike for what the bike likes and the riders need to adjust around it some what.

Just like when a F1 team builds a car they build the fastest car they can on paper and then it’s up to the driver to adjust around it.

Ofc you set it up for riders preferences but the main thing is that the main characteristics will always be there.

When you as a rider is able to adapt and work around some things your toolbox becomes much bigger than the riders (like sexton for example) that needs everything 100% to his liking.

I agree 100%, do new F1 drivers and teams find their sweet spot with set up during their first season? Or does it take a little time to find their feet. Give the YOUNG MAN a chance ffs. He def didn’t need that extra 5hp they said they fed him on the broadcast, looked super sketchy those first laps.

Said it last year. He rides like Barcia. Makes for great YouTube clips, not 450 championships.

They probably don’t yap all off season about how fast they are going. Duffe couldn’t go a single day without saying how deegan runs his fastest laps at the end of every moto….weird, because he seems to be goin slower at the end.

I don't know about this whole Dazzy being a guru of some kind. It's like Phil Jackson was a genius when he coached Jordan, or Belichick with Brady. No doubt Dazzy may be bright about race bikes, but his son's talent is next level. Not that your point on set-up was wrong, I agree with that totally. It just seems "Dazzy" gets too much of the credit.

Interesting thread of opinions.

Wonder if they give "bike changes" credit for Prado or call him a liar?

Obviously the bike setup matters. Even the Lawrences say its super important.

This this thread is about Deegan so he sucks.

It's low in the rear, and stands up mid corner. He enters like a bat out of hell then loses all his roll through speed through the middle of the corner, then his exit is all traction loss because he has to make up for tip-toeing through the mid turn.

The 450 class isn't for dudes nicknamed "dangerboy". he rides like he still a 125 junior albeit a lot faster. how is a 450 not going to bind up a bit riding it wide open in second gear? doesn't matter the brand.....the little shit should learn to shift

Always a Reed fan, but... Was this his excuse against RC outdoors? Sometimes you just don't have it.

Funny that you could probably compare RC's style closer to Deegan and Reed's to the Lawrence bros. It's a different world out there now.

Reed would blame the bike anytime he got beaten straight up by RC or Stew. Probably one of the most notorious bike blamers of all time.

I don't necessarily disagree, but that felt like strictly an indoors thing. Seemed like he just accepted defeat outdoors the majority of the time. Maybe I'm not remembering... A lot of beers between then and now.

Interesting points.

Who is having a better year? Chase/Kawi or Gasjer/Yamaha? Do either, both or neither stick it out another year?

Well, since only one is still racing.................................😆
