I just picked up a ‘24 XCW with 6.5 hours for $8400. It was more than I wanted to pay but low hours and new one would be at least $2k more so pulled the trigger. Included a set of new ice tires, jug of motrex oil and new in box Aporkovic silencer with the receipt that he paid $700 for it 😳

6 hours is new. Most of the ones I see are all over 100 hours or more.
I have gotten bad. I get close to or alittle over 100 hours and I trade the machine in and start over with a small payment. I work so much I want to just ride and not replace wear items.
I wanted the 79 RM 80 the 100 was a better fit at 12 yrs old when I was 12. My DBP doesn’t hit until 7+. K hyper pull to 11,500 then flat ovr rev. I,d like to find an older restored 89 cr125 with low hrs , hard to find that. But if I,m spending my money I want more performance. A 95-97 cr125 is perfect for evo racing . 90-94 r cool too.
Do dealers ever take anything in on trade? I still want to get trials bike but can't justify it without getting rid of something. I've got 22 KTM XCF350FE low hours that should be worth something but I'm not about to expose myself to marketplace....
Still have the first big bikes I ever owned, 2000 YZ250 and 2002 YZ250F, and mid 70's Yamaha GT80 that I learned to ride on all rotting away in a barn that I'd like to restore someday but this thread isn't encouraging. Wouldn't be doing that for a profit though so guess it shouldn't deter me. If only there were more hours in the day....

Don’t understand the hate for marketplace? Yes you get some idiots but just ignore or check profiles before responding. Not sure how you buy and sell anything without it? Is Craigslist still a thing?
I don't have a Facebook account is the first problem. Beyond that I'm just a fairly private and guarded person. I get more than enough interaction with the less than desirable side of society at work and don't have any energy left over for it outside of work.
Last year I sold a tractor, mower, and bunch of implements on consignment from dealer they all originally came from. Sold at fair prices and the 15% they took was well worth not having to deal with any of it. Have sold vehicles through carvana and gotten more than I paid for them. I fully accept that I'm not getting top dollar for things sometimes but the opportunity cost to trying to go for that just isn't worth it to me.
Most will but your going to need to do buisness with them and your probably not going to like the value.

I've had good luck selling on Marketplace. As you said, you get some a-holes, but like you I check their profile before I respond. If they look suspect I just delete them.
That said, all those "is this still available?" messages can get annoying as hell.
Used bikes aren't worth shit right now and nothing is selling. My buddy was looking beginning of this year he was able to get a 24.5 factory edition GG 250 27 hours on it with extras for around $5k. All the bikes you guys are talking about that are overpriced are just people putting their shit on Facebook looking to hit the lottery with some idiot to buy it. Most the bikes around me have been sitting on there for 6 months.
I am heavy into cycling and I think the situation OP was describing is more present in that market. People want $500 less than MSRP for a 5 year old road bike when you can get a newer model brand new for marginally more. The used bicycle market makes zero sense.

No I don’t…but I just missed a very low hr 87CR250 a few years ago, when I was still actively buying very clean 80-90”s bikes. Iconic and beautiful bikes….I have 5 Honda’s, 3 of them are my Vintage/ Evo “ riders” they were built so well back then, they still can handle a modern track no problem…I have 7 Suzuki RM”s, 6, 250”s and 1,125. I will likely offer these first….although after dealing with the kooks the last few months trying to sell some modern bikes, I”m in no hurry to list them….

I think it depends... Some guy wanting a ridiculous price for a clapped out bike isn't going to get it and it sits for sale and gives the perception that the market sucks. It does suck but good, fairly priced bikes go quickly so you aren't seeing those. I sold this restored Honda pretty quickly and I have a KX500 that is nearing completion that I will be selling and I think that will go quickly too.
If you're paying 7500 for an 02 CR250, you must have money to burn, and an attachment to that bike. They weren't that good even back then and I say that owning one for 5ish years. Nothing about it was better than my well set up 02 suzuki. That 02 motor was a step back from the previous gen.
7500 is insane, new or not.
I don’t understand why the 02 is so popular but it is. Last 04 cr125 I bought a Phoenix Pro gncc rider had 2 of them . He was restoring.

Oh man, '24.300SX here. Already couldn't off a '22 YZ250F. I'll sell when it's older. I mean, if there's not a large market value difference between mid 00's and early 20's, FTW. Well, old smokers and late model anything anywho.
Maybe I need to do a bike rental or a non-profit org for the disadvantaged. Get the equipment write-off eh. Maybe the Homeless simply need what we use as meds! Sayin'

I bought a 20 kx 450 19 hrs on it in late December and sold it in April . I made a little over 1k profit but it was a cheap bike both ways so easy for people to come up with 4 or 5 k vs 8 or 9 .
We just started the "Golden Age" not long ago. I've been told we're all better off, no??

I had a 24 250sx with 55 hours on it loaded with all the best mod parts for the TBI, sold it with the TSP tuner for $5k after having it up for 2 hours in spring.
Same bike I listed at $6k and only got trade offers for 5 months in the fall.
Take that for what it’s worth.
Also about to buy a used King Ranch F150 from a wholesaler buddy, getting a smoking deal on it. The used truck market is B O N K E R S right now.
I have a 1995 Honda CR250 that I've been gathering parts for about the last year that I will eventually restore, but after that I want a 1987 CR250. That was the bike I so badly wanted as a 15 yo
The '02 frame and ergo's were really good, but the motor sucked compared to my '01.
T'were I was still a younger man, I always wanted to do the 02-07 chassis with an 01 motor. Had a fairly full tilt boogie 03 with Pro Circuit everything - was fortunate to watch Bones set up the suspension for three-story building drops, a bit too stiff and ambitious if I'm honest... but that thing had a great frame and suspenders.
Motor, PC porting and all, was like the world's fastest 125. Mostly rode a Suzuki with RG3 that was also in the stable.
Honorable mention to the Honda HPP 250 motors. Sublime, if a bit of a bitch to maintain.
Back on topic, wish I'd have unloaded a couple of bikes I then couldn't yet deal to part with during the Covid rush. For what I can get now for a sweet fresh 06 Yammy 125... I guess I'll just keep it 'till we both turn to dust.

I’m trying to find an old 2 stroke from early 2000’s, with a budget of about $2,000. And a dual sport for my brother. I always end up giving up searching because it seems they are either too good to be true, or too expensive. I have never bought from Facebook marketplace but I’ve used Offer Up for small items, people are flakey.
The majority of buying & selling happens on facebook marketplace now…. That’s the only reason I joined up facebook about 5-6 years ago….that and most Mx tracks do all their updates on fbook also….there is a bit of a learning curve to dealing with fbook marketplace…..
