Deegan poses less challenge than Sexton did in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Even taking shortcuts he wasn’t able to pass him.

AP last year passed Jett at Thunder Valley. No shortcuts. Just flat out passed him.  For whatever reason Jett struggles to find a flow in the first moto at that track. 

It’s on lol yeah Deegan ride over your head and cut the track and you’ll get Jett. It’s so on man. 

I’m not a Johnny hopper fan whatsoever but I love Jett’s answer here. Class act.  Him, his brother and the team.

When you cut the track multiple times in a single moto, a person would eventually get close enough to attempt a pass......  Your defense of the little bastard is pointless.  Please stop.  You come across as bright as "Whats his name".....

Look how many shots Hunter took at him. End result: Jett lead every single lap. Both motos. Again. 

I'm not really a fan of any particular rider, I'm a KTM guy, but I was beyond pumped up when Deegan passed Hunter in the first moto, was tailing Jett and almost got up beside him on the big corner.  The entire crowd was into it and it was very exciting.  Deegan's speed impressed the hell out of me and I think he has what it takes to run with the brothers in the very near future.  

But there was this one time where I was walking from one side of the track to the other, not really paying attention and Jett came by me at the speed of light, faster than I have ever seen anyone ride a dirt bike before.  So fast that I almost tripped over my own feet.  Seriously crazy.

I got to prep hangtown for Geico Honda when Eli was doing a test day. With barcia and canard. Eli was moving berms a foot every time he came thru. I was actually scared to get too close. I know that feeling.

You guys ever ride with a friend who is much better than you? You kinda try catch a tow at the start but you’re just basically looking ahead at them and copying them with regards to lines and not consciously riding your own way - eventually you make the inevitable mistake that costs you a few bike lengths and you just lose site of them and suddenly they’re just pulling bike lengths on you and by moto’s end they’re gone. Do you end that ride going “man I nearly had them”? Let’s say you practice 2 motos but the next one you don’t quite get close enough on the start to hang on for dear life again behind them and end up half a minute back - I know there are a lot of  fans who don’t ride and are attracted to the McGregor style shit talk but some of this hype needs to be adequately toned down. All these 250 class stats between HD and Jett are not what they seem at face value which may be causing the confusion. Watch Jett’s rookie season to see him under pressure by an actual peer for entire motos, not some maniac riding for his life for a couple laps but ultimately always getting smoked by 20+ seconds at the end.

Love how he doesn’t believe in rivalries but name drops a few potential rivalries names like Eli, Chase and Hunter. 

Swear he only did that so not naming Deegan stood out more. 

 

I think Jett and Hunter are playing this perfectly. The only thing Jett needs to do is hand him a full 1 min beat down to finish the job

I hope deeg does give Jett a run for his money, not because I am fan, Purley to keep the racing interesting, it was pretty boring when jet was winning the 450s and deeg winning the 250s, so bring it on 

While Deegan has brought this on himself I would not write him off. He will figure it out and get more comfortable at this new pace.

Jett and Hunter are faster than Deegan right now , it's  plain to see .  There's no shame in it .  I wish we could see where Sexton at his best and a healthy Eli fit in to this mix . 

This.  Historically Haiden does actually end up over his head pretty often.  I don’t like Deegan at all but I’m glad to see him stay healthy like he has through his career because I don’t like seeing anyone get injured.

Look at the SMX final last year with Jo.  Salt Lake this year with Davies.  Lots of examples of him riding over his head, looking back a bunch and having tip overs or small crashes trying to override.  

I think at thunder valley he was riding at 100% and wanted the pass on Jett so bad that he pushed to 110% and lost it all

LOL these guys must be watching the highlights, and not the whole motos 😂

I just want to see Jett go flat out for the first 15 mins to see how much he can surpass Eli’s 2015 1+ min lead. 

I wish Hunter didn’t fall after passing deegan in moto 2. Almost loooked like they are breaking him

Jett is the standard, hopefully Hunter, and Deegan keep it close. Imagine if Deegan does get a bit faster to press Jett, and Jett gets a bit faster too.....have we seen Jett at 100% for a full lap? We know he seems to be able to sprint sections and put in a crazy fast lap to create a gap, but is it his very best or does he still have more speed.  Reminds me of Stew letting Reed by to catch him and gap him back on 125s. Jett has that speed on a 450!!!

I just keep going back to starts. Jett's arguably the best starter on the planet. Haiden is so-so. We all know about Deegz work ethic. Have we ever seen a mediocre starter turn himself into an exceptional starter? Has it ever been done? I tend to think it's one of those things you're just born with. You have it or you don't. Otherwise Eli would have turned himself into a great starter. Larocco would have. Shimoda, Kitchen. Why dont they just practice themselves into being great starters? I dont believe it can be done. If you can't start with Jett, you aren't beating him. Haiden could progress to where he can match Jett's speed. I dont personally see it but lets say he can. Matching him isn't good enough after he's got a 10sec gap because you only started top 10. 

The longer the ignoring goes on, the more awkward it gets.  They are probably going to be racing him for ten years.  They're going to have to stop the ignoring him at some point, especially if he starts taking wins from them.

There are times when Deegan looks like he's racing motocross and Jett looks like he's road racing.  It's really kind of crazy.
