would be interesting if he asked for a lighter flywheel only for this to happen. a light flywheel would sort of explain the corner entry issues hes been having.

“Out of my control” “along for the ride” = dead engine

To play devil's advocate a little, Prado's KTM blew up on him just last week, Chase is just unfortunate enough to have his grenade mid-air...

Kawi needs someone like RJ, JCoop and/or Mookie to come onboard with Marchbanks (hell, run three 450's) and run a roster of riders that are capable of putting in some under-the-radar surprise finishes, until they actually get the bike figured out. Otherwise, they're gonna keep upsetting star riders in a very public way and end up with multiple divorces in a span of a few years.

I couldn't tell, is that the big step up double table in the back?

Chase is the toughest man on the planet. He's made of titanium or some shit. Anyone else they might as well dug a hole and burried them there.

This sport is so fucking brutal. Few weeks ago starts with a full grid, already down Tomac, J Coop, Mookie and Chase. In a few weeks it'll be a skeleton crew.

The Lewis interview with Mitch Evans was interesting, especially where he talked about the Kawi needing to be steered with the rear to work properly.

It's not a common riding style, RV was a master at this. Was it his usual style, or did he just figure out how the Kawi needed to be ridden and adapt?

I don't see any of the current top pros changing their entire riding style, so Kawi might have some work to do...

I’d say it’s more that they built the bike around RV and then spent 10 years telling the rest to ride their settings and figure it out instead of listening and developing it.

Chase said in SX that he changed how he rides.

I suspect we will see him slowly finding a more neutral style and when he has a balanced bike (and mind), he’s gonna be the guy.

I think this is the jump coming out the the valley near the front of the property, kinda in the last 3/4 of lap.

Edit, I am wrong, triple at top of the track

Jeez, glad he could walk away from that, and hope he’s not too badly injured. Get well soon, Chase!

Alot of talk about motor seize and him riding it back. Doesn’t have to be a full lock up motor seize to stop running. Could be fuel mapping issue with the altitude, or even a fluke ignition issue.

Could be he brake tapped and stalled it, but it would seem weird to knowingly stall it and then go full pinned. But there are natural instincts involved so who knows.

I don’t understand the guys saying Chase stalled it in the air by hitting the rear brake?
It’s common practice to use the rear brake in the air. This is a modern efi four stroke, not some choked up old dunga from yesteryear. You shouldn’t be able to stall them in the air!

Shit show going from bad to worse over in the green rig, what a disaster.
Glad Sexton was able to walk away.

Say what you want about chase, he's never been a liar, and that comment leaves no room for interpretation. Hope he's OK but in some ways I'm hopeful this will be clarifying moment for everyone involved and maybe the divorce can proceed quickly and amicably.

Could this have been an electrical failure?  Motor cut out, but refired, while not under load or high RPM?

So hard to speculate…

Good old 4 stroke flame out?  Lean jettting/AFR at altitude causing a lean pop to stall?  Who knows. If it was a bike issue I’m sure we won’t see Kawasaki post any data logs from the event.

I get the feeling the Kawi is a solid bike for decent riders, but the upper echelon seem to not be able to find what’s needed to ride at the top.  I thought last year Prado was maybe just being a bit of a baby, but Chase sure seems to be solidifying Prado’s point from last year.  I’ll bet Prado it thinking “Poor bastard” about Chase as he knows his pain.

Didn't prado's ktm quit in the middle of a race last week?  If it had happened 100 yards earlier, prado might have done the same thing on the big hangtown jump. 🤷‍♀️

You stated it very well. Starting to remind me of how many people moaned and groaned about Reed when he’d speak his mind. But now he is hailed as very important and influential. It’s hard to see what’s going on until it has already happened. I’m a big Reed and Sexton fan. I hope Sexton is able to recover quickly and move forward. He’s a very talented guy and the sport is better with him in it.

Not saying that he stalled it, but if you do not pull in the clutch at the right moment, I don't care if it is FI or carb, the bike will stall (I have made this mistakes a couple of times)

If that bike just locked up mid air he’s out of the team by tomorrow. Stamp it.

It happens. Just horrible timing for Kawasaki. If it was in fact an engine failure, with all the bad press they’ve been having the last couple years, Japan will be on the red phone demanding solutions to the problem. I cannot see how they would not.
