WMX...does anyone know how fast these girls are?

From some of the clips I’ve seen Matty B post at Club, Lachlan Turner motos with the team there outdoors.  I didn’t see lap times but I saw them come around several times and she was in the mix for sure.  I don’t think she’s passing and dropping them but even running with those dudes a few laps is super impressive. That team is all capable of top 10s any weekend

Fast, safe to say, DAMM FAST!!!!!!

Lachlan Turner got 9th in 3rd moto in 250 B Limited at Loretta's in 2025. I assume she's faster this year. Mayla Herrick got some top 10's in 250 B and 450 B area qualifiers this year. 

These women are getting crazy fast. Its so sick. There was discussion in the Jett vs RC National thread about whether Jett's speed is actually greater than RC and James in '07. If you look at the WMX racers of that era, Ashley Fiolek and Jessica Patterson, its not even close. Turner would destroy them. The speed of these women has progressed so much

Jordan Jarvis was always just outside qualifying at nationals

Years ago I believe Courtney Duncan’s lap times were in the mix with the 250s. 

Turner is the real deal, she will go far beyond what any other woman has. 

The current crop is much closer to the guys than Fiolek, Geiger, Patterson, etc. were years ago IMO. 

Hannah Jamison and Raycin Kyler could push the level even further in the next few years. 

Would definitely be cool to see Turner enter a couple of 250 rounds just to see how she stacks up. 

van Drunen has done it in MX2 a few times but the MX2 class is Europe is nowhere near a full gate most of the time so it's hard to compare, and I have no idea how she would stack up against the top WMX riders in the States (I would guess she'd be fighting for wins and podiums but don't know for certain) 

One thing's for sure: They'd wax most of us, and most local A riders in the majority of towns and states 

Personally, I dont care about "fast". What makes me tune in, is the competitive nature of the field. 

I would say, we have a very competitive field right now. Im looking forward to watching the WMX moto 2 today.

Got to talk to Ferrandis for a couple minutes @ the Cleveland SX, had my friends 2 daughters with me who both race.  Dylan was talking about how fast the ladies in WMX have gotten, so I figure, if its good enough to impress him it must be pretty damn good..lol.  He doesnt sugarcoat anything.

It is crazy how far the women have come in terms of speed. I remember watching Jessica Patterson and she had speed, but she wasn't coming close to top 10 at LL outside the women's classes. I doubt she would have qualified at all. That said, they wouldn't be where they are without Fiolek, Patterson, and the others. From what I recall, they had those women out there racing AFTER the main nationals were over when the tracks were completely hammered. I cannot imagine going out there for a full moto after the second 450 moto decimates what is left of a track. They were super gnarly for even being out there. 

It is great to see the progression on on the women's side of things and even better to see the promoters/organizers trying to carve out a space for women in what has always been a men's dominated sport. I anticipate that the popularity will only increase as their speed ticks up on track. 

Watching, and hearing, CD wring out a 125 at Thunder Valley is still imprinted on my mind. That gal rips.

The top women in WMX are extremely fast. Even the riders at the back of the pack would make some fast local guys feel pretty bad about themselves.
On that note, there seem to be quite a few very fast young girls at local Southern California practice tracks and races. The WMX class appears to be growing and gaining popularity. As a race fan, I love it, and last year some of the best televised battles were in WMX races.

Wasn't it after the first set of moto's?  I don't remember it being at the end.

Dirt bikes can seem scary for new ladies getting into it.... very glad we have a space for for women in the sport again , it will only help wives, daughters exc want to get into it.

Could have been after the first set. I just remember them riding tracks that were pretty beat up. 

I don't know if dirt bikes being dangerous/scary is what is off putting or just generally the bro dude culture of mx generally. MX is a space designed by guys for guys. The bikes are designed for men, the gear is designed for men, and the gear for women is still designed by men. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, but it's not a particularly inviting environment for women. Imagine going to a yoga class where there are only women and you're the only guy there. It creates a weird dynamic that isn't hostile, but also not inviting/comfortable for whoever the standout person is. Also doesn't help when you see dad's at the track berating their kid because they got beat by a girl. Been a while since I've seen that, but it was prevalent a decade or so ago.

Are there any rules about racing both series? Like WMX rounds and then racing the off weekends in MX? 

My guess...There might be a few qualifying for nationals in the next 10 years.  Two or three of them are running up front/winning major amateur races in the 65/85 classes.  Once boys hit puberty,  they tend to pull away from girls in more traditional sports. It will be interesting to see if these young ladies can stay at the front once they hit big bikes and the 15-17 age groups.  

There is still a pretty big drop off after the top 3-4 at the wmx races.  But the top couple are definitely local A/B class speed.

I only made it like 3 laps before my bike died, but she was right there with us in the top 10. I was impressed. 

The top 3 or 4 maybe 5 are definitely local A or better speed.

Noticed Vickie Golden hasn’t been mentioned much but she still rips, not sure where she would stack up against today’s bunch but she can still fly. 

If I was Brandon Haas, and I saw the WMX promotional efforts that were going on during SX, I’d have Lala on Club bike for WMX.

Or at least give her a seat to race against the boys on the off weekends now that they are down to 1 full time rider. She’d probably rip a few holeshots, especially at Thunder (Not sure if it’s a WMX round).

I believe she’s already signed at Star for next year. 

The girl finishing last place in WMX would absolutely blow my doors off if I lined up next to her. They’re all extremely fast. I think the top 3 could qualify for a national this year. 

I've seen Mayla ride in person and on a supermini she was just as fast as the boys, it was impressive. She recently moved up to a 250f and is hauling the mail. I think she is too young for a few of the rounds but looking forward to seeing her mix it up. 

Rachel Gutish showed up to one of our hare scramble series last year. She signed up for AA (pro class) and got 8th overall for the day. 8th out of 16 AA guys and only had 1 A guy beat her. She isn’t in the top in GNCC women’s and still beat a ton of our pro class guys. 

She would nothing compared to these MX girls, they are crazy fast. Anyone down talking them are disrespectful and don’t truly understand how fast they are going.

Someone mentioned Jordan Jarvis doing MX before. She was impressive but I also don’t think she was doing what these women currently are now. 

The top ladies of WMX are Pro for a reason. Sure, they aren't as fast as the National Pro guys, but they would easily beat the local A riders that run Pro class.

Lotte Van Drunen raced some Mx2 GPs last and this year. She is usually around 8-12 seconds (depends on the track ofc) a lap slower than the absolute best 250 riders in the class, which is fucking insane considering the obvious physical disadvantages. And she never placed last, there is always a couple dudes behind her. Let alone doing the full 30+2 twice a day as a girl and being this fast.. And she's only 18 aswell. 

She's currently not healthy/riding injured but her vs the girls in the US would be fun to watch. The new generation is indeed crazy.
