It’s amazing how well Jett did with a banged up foot/ ankle. He was limping around badly on and off the podium. Concerning watching that. Honestly after seeing that, I think it’s possible that he doesn’t compete in every race this season or not finish the season.

Poll

Will Jett….

These are not normal human beings. He’s a motocross racer. He seemed to get better as the day went on.

I think the opposite, today showed that he got better with every lap with two absolutely horrible starts. Race conditions are the only way to test the limit of an injury like this and he looked like Jett again in late moto 2, almost got Prado aswell. The limping is rough to watch though, I can't believe he still rides and slices through the field like that.

Yeah he was even better 2nd moto on a rougher track. You would think if the injury was going to be a problem he would have been beat up after the first moto. I feel like that was a positive sign

He'll be fine. I shattered my heel and had a subtalar fusion. I had a limp for close to a year. Even with the limp, riding felt normal with a boot on.

I had the same question OP. Yeah Jett will make Pala. But this isn't an ACL, where he improved every week. With this iniury would he actually go backwards every week? I think his riding 2nd moto was a positive sign

He wasnt limping that bad before the race, I’m sure doing two 30 minutes plus 2 definitely made him sore. Hes said he doesnt have full range of motion yet and wont for a year so I’m sure hitting big jumps and riding on the balls of his feet was stretching it out and pushing his limits and its def gonna be sore. He should get progressively better each week this year.

He will improve as the season goes on.

Today he proved to himself that he can finish the day and barring bad starts he can run up front even in the condition that he’s in.

I imagine it hurts and is a grind, but if he can make it through today, it’ll get better every weekend even incrementally

He’ll take awhile to adapt and improve each week. He may not be quite as alien as we’re used to, but I believe he’s in this championship for the long haul.

Yeah, today was worse case Ontario. Unless he re-injures it, it should only get better moving forward.

As JT pointed out he doesn't look anywhere near how he usually does. Looked very tentitive and wasn't drifting and floating around the track. That being said, as he shakes off some rust and as his foot improves he'll only get better.

Shows how great he is that he still got a podium at, I would say, 60 per cent of his usual performance.

Yeah JT said 80 or 85%. I thought that was really high. His starts were more puzzling to me than almost anything

I agree, that was nowhere near 80 per cent.

This limp could be permanent... but for that to say with 100% certainty we should have some more info like RX-footage from his ankle.

Racing will work out the residue stiffness of his ankle. He's super cautious this weekend, hasnt raced in 6 months and still makes Pardo look like an over hyped wannabe. Hunta is simply on another level alltogether.

Talus is a super gnarly injury. Ask me how I know!

He looked pretty damned good to me. The only thing holding him back was the starts, which he usually crushes.

Broke my talus/sub taylor dislocation when I was 18.  55 now.  It’s a nasty injury.  Had two broken compound femurs, pcl, ribs wrist shoulder total knee replacement bla bla ankle was by far worst injury.  Still hurts today.

It's Jett he's always going to look good but no doubt about it he is limited greatly.

It's going to be interesting I think he's in bad shape, one slip up and he could be back at square one, if he races without any mishaps and his condition gets worse just by racing the bike I reckon they pull the pin on the season.

Pretty risky stuff I hope he doesn't have another set back.

I’m almost 70, wife tells friends that I can’t walk and chew gum because my depth perception is so bad. Get on a bike and everything feels normal, no problems at all, except I’m slow. LOL

Severely commutated (shattered) talus. That’s an illazarov fixation, worn for three months. Limped severely for two years, couldn’t jump off a curb. Range of motion is gone. If I walk too much, I’m limping the next day.

I thought he looked fine all things considered.

How does a poll have choices that are all questions?

Would you like me to remove the question marks? The poll has 25 thumbs down and zero thumbs up, so maybe you’re on to something.😂

he's gonna take the championship.

he rode "nervous" in moto 1 and you just know his brain was asking "Oh my goodness, am I going  to be ok?" and as the moto went on, he loosened up. Moto 2 another shit start and then was closing fast on 1/2. Once he gets a start, he's gone. Rinse/repeat.

You could be right. But the heavy limping afterwords I think is a serious concern. I’m imagining that his foot is terribly swollen and sore today and he’s on ice. If that is the case his training during the week would be limited. Not to mention if he goes down in a race it could blow up on him. I’m speaking hypothetically, I have know idea. I do believe he’s the only rider out there that could do what he did yesterday……pretty amazing to be off the bike that long and podium a National with that serious of an injury.

Everyone is saying whatever percent but given the way he walks, 1 fall and this could be his new limit. Sucks to think about and say but that is the reality of the sport. I dont know if it is as comparable to Kens injury with regards to difficulty but something to think about. Will he always be chasing his former shadow? How long will it actually take?

1st moto about 1/2 way through he started dissecting the track like usual getting into the zone. When he gets there he is gone.

I know he is sore as hell today.  I think small progress will be made the next 3 races.  Recovery will take half the week to feel rideable and then he will take 2nd or 3rd with maybe a win if start is better the Hunter and Prado the next 3 weeks…and Chase will be in there if Chase is happy.  Then the 2 week break before RedBud will be golden. From July 4th on Jett will be a major problem and we will see him battle for wins…. and probably win most of those battles.  I would love to see Chase happy, Prado, Hunter, and Jett give us some epic battles…and I think the will.

For sure.  It’s going to be trying to recover for half the week, and then just ride some….but at that age time for continued healing/strength will slowly help….imo.  The 2 week break will help a lot.

He’s fit and 2 30s were no problem yesterday….but it wasn’t hot.  Hot days test fitness more….so we will see.
