Didn’t this exact same thing happen at last year’s Charlottes SMX round and cost Levi maybe ( I think it was a PC Kaw rider) a big penalty? So why not follow those same rules this year?

I believe you are correct. I remember a very similar situation where the ruling went the other way. Charlotee SMX sounds right to me.

Put permanent cameras on all these sections with redlights! Perhaps also as webcams! No more half guesses…

Alright guys, so the takeaway from this is, don’t jump if the red light is on. Unless you’ve got a hunch that we don’t really mean it, then go ahead. There probably isn’t a downed rider over there that you’re gonna land on. Supercross is all about taking risks, well it’s time to risk your finishing points as well as the safety of the rider that may or may not be down on the finish.

- AMA

Obviously, Jo should have used his X-ray vision to see through the face of the jump to see that this was more of a “just kidding 🤭” red light than a normal one used to ensure rider safety.

Clear as mud.

What’s clear as day is that Jo got fucked for following the rules.

I feel bad. If you’re Honda, what do you do in this situation? What could Lars do…

Same thing as Ricky and the fuel deal.  Just say we'll see you at the outdoors or put out a statement they are going to WSX.  Things would change quick.  What if Joe loses this title by like 2 points?

It's interesting that both the 250 and 450 flag incidents occurred at the finish line jump. Was the flagger at that location just fucking up everything at his job?

The AMA knows the lights were on. They also know riders jumped while the lights were on. They also know the rulebook but are refusing to enforce it, the question is WHY?

So does “no violation was determined” -sounds open and potentially preliminary - really mean “it was determined there was no violation” - which sounds final?
Is the further explanation tomorrow just that or are penalties still forthcoming?

There is corruption in the AMA. Somebody got paid.

Listening to the VitalMX review pod, ML said the explanation is that you CAN jump on a flashing red light if it’s before the finish line. WTF

So why put red lights before the finish line then if they don't matter?

I’m hoping that the AMA simply hasn’t released a decision yet…

A decision that, if the rules are enforced correctly, will take some points/positions from Brown (and a fine/purse penalty I think when it’s in the main?) and Joe gets 1st.

Honestly, I’m bummed that this happened…for both Jo and Pierce; but, rules are supposed to be enforced…especially those focused on rider safety.

So far, this is pretty embarrassing to me…embarrassing for us and our sport.

Well, anyways, those are the thoughts of an old dude that’s still flying home from the race. Had to stay and enjoy some proper Texas bar-b-q and beer!🍺 💪🏼🤠

See you all at the races!

You would think an important detail like that would be noted in the rule book 🤔

Fuck it, the AMA has clearly set a precedent here, next time if the red light or red cross flag is out just jump it since you won't be penalised!

Both Hunter and especially Jo got screwed for following the rules. The AMA has now shown that the rules don't matter, so go do whatever the fuck you want.

There should be no controversy here. Pierce Brown made a pass FOR THE LEAD by jumping on the red light. We all saw it on video. He doesn't get the win, he doesn't get the points.

Jo did the right thing and he better not be penalized for that.

This is a MASSIVE paraphrase from the Vital post race pod....and it's a WILD and related reason they are not going to penalize anyone in either class.

The lights on the double before the finish are only "lead-in" lights, as in they are there to warn the rider there MAY be a red cross flag on the next jump. The red lights on the double do not indicate the rider can't jump. There was no flag on the finish jump in the 250 class, meaning Joe rolled the double because he miss read what the red lights meant.

In the 450 class, the red lights WEREN'T on, but the flag was out....so.....get this.....they are basically saying because the red lights WEREN'T on, the 450 guys have an excuse they didn't see the flag in time to safely roll the finish line.

There is no way in hell any rider or team knew those lights were only lead-in lights. What a complete joke.

Whenever the "Powers That Be" resort to these illogical explanations, we already know that they're lying. Follow the money.

There may be an explanation this week.  We'll see how it goes.

Sound after race is BS but this is so visually a violation in both classes being blatantly swept into the dirt is BS.

If championship points were different this would have been a violation just to tighten the points race.

What are the odds that if Jo had jumped he would've got penalized?
