Jorge Prado Injury Update

From Ian Harrison:

Team manager of the Red Bull KTM factory team Ian Harrison, gave an update on the injury to Jorge Prado, and while it seems he should be okay to race soon, it also seems like a bit of a mystery.

Ian Harrison: “Jorge crashed in practice and at first, like anything, you always feel the sting. You’re worried because he has had an injury to that shoulder before, so we had it checked out in the medical center and everything looked okay, other than aches and pains.

“On a track like tonight, you have to have everything working properly. We asked him to give it a try, but I said that if he didn’t feel he was up to it or if it wasn’t going to be safe, then we’re not in a title-fight with him – he’s doing an amazing job so far – so it was his option. He decided [to] have it checked out again, maybe get some therapy on it, and I’m sure he’ll be back next week, but it doesn’t look like there is any major injury.”

“I think Jorge is a very, very talented rider,” continued Harrison. “He is figuring out a lot of things and is on the same trajectory as what Ken Roczen was on years ago, so I think his potential is really, really high.”

just as long as he's healthy for outdoors... could make for the most epic nationals in years...

Yeah he knows this year even if he was 10 points higher in the standings hes not the title guy this year. No reason to risk a season at a track like that.

An AC separation will hurt like hell for a couple weeks and then suddenly feel normal. Please keep this guy healthy for outdoors!

He more than proved his point in SX already this year. Heal up for MX

Not quite yet for me, he needs to finish SX, especially MX healthy with decent results.

So he quit as soon as he faced some kind of problem.  Got it.  Sounds par for the course. Fast when everything is going perfect.  Quits when it isn't?   Dude had one great race.  People act like he was in contention.  He pretty much finished where he started every week.  Then pulled out at the first sign of trouble.

Are you serious? Did you see his crash? It was a gnarly impact to the same shoulder he's injured multiple times prior.

He out qualified the entire 450 class. Twice. That's arguably insane considering his experience level and where he was last year.

I know it’s only qualifying and heat races  but Prado has exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds  this season. He has the pace to be a SX winner once he gets the confidence to hold onto it for 20 mins … I hope he gets a win sometime next season in SX and hopefully one or two this summer

All his other years being Champion on everything since he was on 65's and has one wonky year and suddenly he needs to prove more to you. Incredibly successful and perfect you must be 👌

7 rounds in. 10th in points. 1 podium.

I’m curious why he even lined up for the heat. He literally rode through the first turn, rolled two jumps, and exited the track. He had his mind made up before the gate dropped.

I get what you are saying but 2x fastest qualifier for an inexperienced SX guy in this field is nothing to scoff at.

He's the 10th best  sx rider in world right now. Imagine being 10th best baseball, soccer, b-ball, or football player right now. He's a effing bad-ass. No ones 'feelings' matter.

It was postulated earlier that his contact may pay based on making and starting the night show.   So it could be a financial incentive for him to line up at the gate knowing he cannot finish the heat.

It hasn't been confirmed (are contact details ever in this sport?) however it is the most logical sounding suggestion to me given how abruptly he pulled off the track.

The guy held off tomac for a heat win not just him a very game barcia and Dylan. Who had that on their bingo card for A1. Let alone what 2 or 3 heat race wins. I think finished in the top 10 almost every rry round with 1 or 2 podiums in the main. Gtfoh the man is having a great year by any guy outside the top 5. Sometimes making it through the whole season is knowing when its not your night.

Remember people. Jorge has only ever raced to this day 15 supercrosses. 15 races total. I though he did fin in sx last year and the year before. The entire top 10 of the 250 east and west classes have close to double or more races then him.

So he can take off any race ktm is ok with and get him healthy to the outdoors. Cause you know what. Outdoors hes gonna haul ass and thats what I wanna see now. There's gonna be some great 450 racing this year.  But first let's see Daytona

Mate, I'm not even a Prado fan but that's not telling the full story. That's including his DNS due to injury in Seattle. Prior, he was actually 7th in points, tied in points with a 450 SX Champion, Jason Anderson. And other than maybe Justin Cooper being 2 points ahead at the time(a 250 SX Champ in his own right), which one of the guys ahead of him would you expect him to be doing better than? Sexton? Roczen? Webb? Hunter? Eli?

C'mon man. Give him credit where credit is due. It's an incredibly stacked field and he has multiple heat wins, a podium, and multiple fast qualifiers.

I don’t think he’s exactly doing bad this year. Hell I think he’s doing better than what I expected. We will see how he bounces back from this. I feel like if he comes out doors and doesn’t win one of the first three/four rounds and even if he’s off the podium most of them I think he packs it in. I could be off again that’s why it’s fun to be a fan.

Embarrassing crashout you’re having in here. Also pretty lame you counted his dnf this weekend.

After last weekend he was 7th and 2 points out of 6th. Just say you hate the guy and get it over with.

I am not very successful, my current job is delivering food and groceries for Uber Eats, DoorDash and Instacart. And i’m a student at my local community college. I expected him to be top 10-15 in outdoors last year, not quit and intentionally try to not qualify for a race. He has done very well in sx, suprisingly well, I didn’t think he’d be as good as he is. We didn’t get to see a whole lot of him in sx because of the shoulder injury. But I was suprised by his heat win in San Fran. I just hope he comes back and finishes sx strong and do well in mx and tbh anything better than last year counts for me. I hope we get to see mxgp jorge in outdoors. We all know he has the skill, but he didn’t show much last year, that’s why I said he still needs to prove something to me.

I think it depends on the injury.  My AC separation took a long time to fully heal.  I hope he heals up quickly.

I don't think he makes the outdoors healthy. Too much exuberance. Too many good starts, which leads to pressure to maintain position.

That very first crash that took him out of his first season gave me mcadoo vibes (terrible take, I know) and I dunno if he's matured enough yet. Really hope I'm wrong.

He would have been 6th without the 3 points sound test penalty, behind Chase.

Jorge is doing just fine. The guy can ride a motorcycle. I didn’t agree with how he handled the struggle with Kawi. Two separate issues. Hope he gets well soon, the series is better with more competition.

JP only did what was absolutely needed to get off from that mediocre team!
Im sure he was not proud but extreme situations require extreme measures… like ”quitting” in qualifying… look at him now…

If Whorehay ever actually finishes something then maybe you can brag on him. Till then he’s just a blight and a blemish on an otherwise successful team.

Send him home he’s unwanted here and promotion isn’t going to change the fans mind. This is America and we don’t like quitters.
