Passing your drug tests is an important part of your job as a professional athlete.
A friend of mine, while not a top level factory rider, used to make mains and got some top 20s and he explicitly told me that most riders use them for the start. I get it, I'm just some dude you don't know talking about some other dude that you don't know that claimed to know something. It's not going to persuade you, but it's enough for me.
Look at the moran sticking up for street legal meth... lol.... while technically different... they both do the same thing.... Adderall is effectively gov endorsed street legal meth.... sorry to pop your bubble of enslavement....
Was a huge fan of his as an amateur, but I'm team Jbone on stew, but I hope his character has improved. Screwing over teams, blaming equipment, and not paying producers aren't admirable things in my book.

Idk why someone that didn’t need to take adderall would want to be all tweaked out riding a SX track lol
I agree with some of the non-admirable things you mentioned. He gave the first gen reverse engined yz450 a bad rap. If you read any of the initial tests of that bike, all the mags raved about it. It had better turning, suspension, felt lighter, more power, ect. than the 2009. Stewart blamed the bike for his crashes, but in reality it was probably just lapses in concentration, lack of adderall, or bike setup.. FWIW i have a 2010 still, and with some mods - compared to my 2022, I like some things about the 2010 better (but not everything).
Especially considering the side effects of not needing it and taking it can be pretty bad.
Id figure more people would be taking small amounts of CBD and THC to relax, loosen up, and reduce inflammation.
I would bet everything I have that 38 partakes.
I just started Vyvanse at the first of the year, I’m curious how it’ll be for riding. I’m usually not super distractible on the bike, things like riding are one of the few things I can easily focus on as long as I’m not tired. How were you before?
💯 been saying this for years now. I remember a him getting interviewed on the line before an outdoor moto a couple years ago. So obvious sometimes.
Ya I got ADHD but they won’t prescribe me an amphetamine like that. I can tell you I took a vyvanse as well as some pretty strong edibles and an energy drink before my incident a year ago. It did not help me ride better.
You were taking edibles before you went riding?
Do you take it? Where are you getting your info?
You know it's not a miracle drug, some people have no effect from it, some have opposite effects, sluggish, tired from it.
Vyvanse, edibles, and an energy drink before a moto, was Jlaw your trainer that day? Lol
Ive thought about trying edibles prior to riding. So far Ive elected not to test it out. Dont want to run the risk of hurting others.
I took an edible and forgot I had taken my ritalin about half and hour prior, and a monster before that. I noticed it made some things easier to hyper focus on, but also made my ADHD worse like being distracted. So I would get distracted easier but would be hyper focused on what distracted me. Sorta like flipping through apps on a phone.
Also made noticing small things in conversations and understanding them easier.
Current combo is my ADHD meds, pre-workout and ghost pump nitric oxide to increase blood flow to the brain. It works okayish, nothing makes it go away.
I ride with some old 40A riders who BLAAAZE before they ride.
It is baffling to me, but they haul ass.
If that’s true about the kids your racing they’ve got some great parents 🙄
Pit Row
No doubt.
It's the last point in your post
😀
Maybe the guy who started the Pharma Advertising During Races thread should come over here and read this one for the answer to his question.
Can’t recommend but when you’re always on it sometimes it’s best not to put yourself in a mental state youre not used to. No j law isn’t my trainer, I know some guys as mentioned who blaze up before riding, personally it can make it a little too intense for me.
That seems..... just incredibly dangerous and irresponsible... Different strokes for different folks. Just hope you aren't out there on an mx track endangering others while riding high.
I’d imagine depending on how you’re wired, could keep your mind calm and let you stay loose on the bike. Reaction time has to be worse though.
I race 2 hour hare scrambles and don't need my meds for racing because it's for making less enjoyable tasks more rewarding. I don't have issues racing, fixing complex issues, or doing something I'm interested in. My meds help with conversations in crowded rooms, paperwork, and keeping the intrusive thoughts from popping up and making me think about driving off a bridge. I also don't have the feeling issue that a previous person posted, once I start I can hyper focus on the racing and forget about how uncomfortable riding gear is, but everyone's ADHD is similar but also unique.
If you don't have ADHD you won't benefit from stimulants. You will feel like it's helping, but all it does is excite the reward mechanism in your brain so it's not actually making you focus more. If you take a recreational dose it will hamper your performance because you will have bad cotton mouth and an elevated heart rate before you even start racing.
I would make an observation that most of us moto people probably have one form of nuro divergent disorder or another because if we didn't we'd not be interested in high adrenaline activities.
Your last comment hit the nail on the head
I know a few also who do this. I have no idea how. If I try to drive a car afterwards, i will get pulled over for going too slow.
Yeah, mine was an example of hypee focusing on the wrong thing. Ive been able to race without it for years and have similar stuff as you do about being in crowded rooms, conversations, and other intrusive thoughts. Though Ive had situations where Ive been actively riding and zoned out. One caused a crash, another was road racing where I imagined I was at a thanksgiving dinner table going down a long straight away.
Non ADD guy here that took adderall for a couple years and had a prescription for it. I used it daily, about 20mg as a service advisor at a dealership. I found it gave me a lot of energy, motivation and drive. My productivity was sky high, I wasn't hungry until night so never ate anything all day. I lost an easy 20 lbs while eating whatever I wanted for dinner. I never felt it helped me focus, in fact I think it did the opposite. I'd start doing something and notice something else wrong/broken/needed to be done and I'd switch to that. It was what I would describe as cracked out. lol. I never rode or raced on it but I did do some track days in my car. I think it helps somewhat when riding/racing but I would say it would mostly help if you're out of shape/tired and it would be the edge to push through. But for focus, I dont think it would help all that much. And yeah your heart rate would be 200 bpm before the race started lol.
I think Stew said one time that Adderall "slowed the track down" for him instead of coming at him 1000mph...so it was easier for him to see lines other guys might not notice. If I'm remembering correctly, when he came back to racing after the ban, and without Adderall, he crashed more than a few times in situations that were totally off character for him.
Do some of you guys here that do race while taking prescription Adderall have the same experience?
Post a reply to: How many top guys have TUE'S For adderall?
