Good to hear... man that could have been much worse

Man what huge relief! Let’s give it up to modern day safety equipment. That Alpinestars tech air should be on everyone’s priority list. What a tough SOB, glad to have an update from the man himself.

Unbelievable news after seeing him lay there for so long last night.

Sounds like he's not done which is pretty wild, hoping he takes as much time as he needs to feel better, and if that doesn't happen no shame in walking away. He's had an amazing career.

Yes and perhaps that prevented a worse injury but the main injury was to his head.  It seems like a lot of people thought he was motionless because he was paralyzed but it’s because he was KO’ed.

Hopefully he takes a few weeks to allow his brain and his body to heal. Great update though, that shit was scary.

Slow this down and you can see he got really lucky. He did land on his head but there was enough forward momentum that he didn’t pile drive in

Yeah, I feared paralysis the most.

At first, it looked like he was trying to get up because his head movements looked intentional. Then his arm movements looked involuntary. Then he didn't move.

This is the biggest advertisement for the tech air there could possibly be. He may be paralyzed or dead without it. To see he only has 1 small break on a wing in his back bone is insane. Feld/AMA need to tell the other companies they have 2 years to create these and then theyre mandatory. If they dont the rider can wear a competitors since its under the jersey. Has to happen, this sport is too damn dangerous.

Absolutely unreal he didn’t make that video from a hospital bed. Good job Astars. Very likely could have saved this from being a much more serious injury.

Good for Ducati too. If this turned out to be WCS that would be a tough way to start there foray into moto.

Boy oh boy, go read the comments on the thread talking about how AMA is making back protection mandatory in 2027.

I could have sworn I heard feld made them mandatory in SX this year but maybe I misheard. Didnt look like everyone was wearing them yesterday.

No he wouldn’t be. Thats almost never how paralysis or death come from it’s almost always compression like landing on your head which Barcia basically did but a vest isn’t going to help with that. But I bet it certainly helped with some more additional smaller injuries that would have made recover that much harder.

he did NOT break his leg? (left one) - the damn thing seemed like a noodle as he was yard-saling. WOW. He makes it sound like he'll be back next weekend in the video? Wow. Dude is an animal.

I haven’t looked at one up close with the vest inflated. Does the bag inflate around the rim of the helmet?

That would be a thought that it could have helped if it prevented his neck from compressing.

Not matter what it was good to see him avoid major and or life altering injury.
