As the title says...

Can't ride all year round where I am so the plan is to finally get my cardio in order, set myself up to race some vet B- maybe A races in 26'.  As of now I'll stay on the 350 unless I work a bunch jan -feb..... the crf450we has been winking at me more than it should be.

How about y'all?

Try to keep my vo2 max and muscle mass from decreasing too much. I’m used to cross country MTB from my garage in the summer. Gotta hit the treadmill and squat rack for a few months. Also, time for new tires, chain and sprockets, clutch, and suspension service.

Same, survive the holidays without ending up looking like Santa and keep getting in better shape for 26. However the homeowner left Christmas cookies out for us today so I’m off to a stellar start.

I am preparing a YZ 125 chassis for a 155 stroker motor that should be here in January😃🙃  Added parts and pieces sitting on the bench: Rekluce Torq Drive, Lectron Pro 38, Italian Brembo Hydro Clutch with the ASV/Clake SLR dual brake (my rigtht leg is 1 3/4" shorter - all my foot wear have 3/4" lifts), FMF Fatty and other bells and whisles Swing arm, linkage and steering stem serviced. I am about 64 KG and 173 CM so the 125 chassis is so much effen fun!!  Can't wait to ride this bike!!  I had a Rick Peterson YZ 167 years ago and wish I had never sold it...........

Plan’s to outrun an emu and earn my bush stripes. Avoid stepping on snakes that look exactly like sticks, make it to January without the power bill making me cry, keep the house from turning to ash, survive the sun without turning into a puddle, and finish summer alive, hydrated, and only slightly cooked.
Racing? Only if it’s a dash to the servo before it closes.

This time of year is always chaotic

Focusing on diet and general fitness till Jan 1, then getting into a base training phase.
Last year was my first year in 20yrs that I deliberately trained for something. Was never an endurance athlete at any point so getting into cycling was a drastic change but the results were amazing. Now I’m starting from 2x the base literally.

My main winter goal, even though we don’t have to much bad winter weather in Houston area is to loose 20 pounds by end of February, sooner if I can.  Along with getting in as good of shape as I can and be as healthy as I can.  I’m not getting any younger.

Last year I dropped for from a little north of 240 down to 205, lost 40 pounds in round numbers.  I hit the gym hard and leveled off at 212 ish.  Over the last couple of months I slipped up, didn’t eat right, drank too much and tried to eat myself to death over Thanksgiving lol.

Couple days back I tipped the scales at 220.5.  I started back eating right and decided to quit drinking the minute I stepped off those scales.  Wife says I’ve probably only added 5 pounds of fat, I’d say more.  I work out hard on my own 3-4 times a week.  Once, twice a month I work out with a professional trainer.  My trainer says for my size he doesn’t think I should get under 200.  I was kinda thinking 190, 195 which is more than 20 pounds.  But I’d be tickled pink at 200.

My second  goal this winter goal is to take a few private lessons with a good motocross trainer.  Maybe an older guy that understands issues some of us old guys have lol.  I was away from the sport for so long, not everything came back to me.  At 69, soon to be 70 I’d  like to get not only faster, but ride safe.  I do ok on easy vet prepped tracks.  At times I struggle on some deep prepped tracks.  Same for dry tracks that get loose on top.  I don’t exactly roll all the big jumps but I’d like to get better and for fun sake feel safe catching a little more air.  I’d also like to learn to grip better with my knees, I get right hand pump/fatigue bad on rough choppy tracks.  I know what to do just can’t make myself do it!

Another goal this winter is to step up my cardio.  I can’t make as many laps as I should be able to, get tired to quick.  I do a mile on the treadmill mill before I work out, but that about all the cardio I do.  My trainer at Golds gym suggested the rowing machines they have is a good place to boost my cardio.  I need to give it a try.

Bubba, don't beat yourself up too bad......  I was at the Dr. office 2 weeks ago.  I stepped on the scale, and jokingly said to my Doc, "Fuck!, I about shit my pants seeing that!!"  Being her sarcastic self....  she laughed and said, "Maybe a big shit might help with your numbers.....".......  God I love her.  Now, that extra 10 I found over early fall tail gate cookouts, I'm thinking if I starve myself.........

Hey there is something to that.  So my boy is a wrestler also and these boys don't eat sometimes.  I got to thinking why not just do that.  So literally 2 days a week I just cut.  Usually Monday and Thursday I do 36 hours no food just water.  So Sunday after dinner to Tuesday morning and Wednesday after dinner to Friday morning.  That plus the gym I'm down about 25 in a short time and packed on some good muscle.  Don't go crazy the other days because you really can't because you have to ease back into it after your stomach is empty.   I feel so much better too because according to the research when your body has nothing to digest it shifts that energy to fixing other things.  Joints don't hurt and stuff just feels better.  I feel better on the bike than I have in at least a decade.

I see some big guys at the track make quite a few laps.  I see a bunch of skinny guys making a lot more laps.  I’d like to get closer to skinny lol.

We did a bunch of not eating having to pull weight in high school  wrestling back in Oklahoma.  I just did a 36 hour fast yesterday.  My last serious weight loss last year, dropped 40 ish pounds.  I did a lot of fasting periods, 8 to 12 hours at a time, a few 24 hour one or two 36 hour.  I think my plan this time I’m going to do a 36 ish hour fast every Monday along with low carb diet.  It sounds easy, not sure it will be easy.

Loosing weight pretty much comes down to not eating lol.  Cutting carbs lets ya eat a little more but calories still count.

Gaining weight pretty much comes down to cooking ribs, drinking beer.  Then KFC hangover food the next day cause I ate all the ribs lol.

Wow!  crusher that is crazy, as I was seriously making a lame joke!  In all truth, I usually don't really eat that much to be honest.  However, I tend to go a bit stupid at a good tailgate party before an OU game.....  I don't have a large build to begin with, so an extra 10 on me looks like 30.  Then again, you are a gym guy, and I rely on my workout being all the bullshit I do everyday ( On feet all day from 8-10, little rest ).  So that actually sounds feasible short term.  Truth be told, I have been known before to have to remind myself to eat, so missing a day wouldn't be that hard.....  Plenty of fluids I'm great.

Why are all us fat guys from Oklahoma apparently 😆.  See I'm the opposite I have a desk job so I'm burning no calories.  I was pretty bad about overeating and pop, cut all that out try to eat less carbs but man are they good.  I'm not big either I'm short.  If you ride around Tulsa let me know we'll have to meet up sometime.

I had latarjet surgery on my left shoulder 2 weeks ago. So goal for this off-season is to recover as fast and as good as possible. Championship begins on the 1st March, I'm aware I'll most likely miss the first couple races but I'll do the best I can not to. In the meantime, I've been doing cardio on my stationary bike as well as core and legs workouts. If any of you has any tips, fire them to me!

About 15 years ago I allowed myself to get to about 195#🤔 totally a WTF moment. Just changing my diet and eating less got be down 25#'s or so. Quit drinking and lowered the food consumption. Introduced a 18 to 24 fasting routune. Was still on HBP Meds. Ugh! Started cutting the meds in half for a month and started drinking a high quality Sea Salt with water. (Tip of a table spoon to a cup) Then started taking the Meds ever other day then every few days and soon no Meds at all. Its been over 3 years now, BP has stabilized and my weight is the same as when was drafted in 1972.  No Meds what so ever!  A good book to consider is Eating Right 4 Your Blood Type Dr. Peter J D'Adamo

I just want to get some consistency mentally. And I know what the problem is.. It is me! I have a full gym, rower, and stationary bike in my garage and the weather isn't too bad where I live so I could just ride.. But for whatever sorry, lazy ass reason I will just be like "nah, not today.."

I need to work on my mental game.

Get my thyroid count back in range, so I won't gain 3 pounds when I swallow my own spit. Try to loose several pounds after that!

Lil tip, ChatGPT is pretty ridiculous when it comes to popping out training programs. Tell it who you are, your goals, when your season starts ect and it will give some good suggestions

You need a training buddy who also has their road bike sitting there not riding it.

I would use ai to make a post on a local Facebook page asking for a training buddy

I'm glad that has been working for you, but there's no data backing up any of that "eat for your blood type" nonsense.

Goals for 2026

Payoff mortgage, this will be done this month not 26.
Sell my small business, which all of my non mortgage debt is connected too, already have a buyer working to get his financing in order.
Invest the profit
Take a few months off, vacation and finish a few projects around our properties.
Jeep (wife’s) projects.
Multiple day riding trips,2-3
Health wise.
Start working out again, stopped during Covid and it’s time to get back into it.
I don’t have to worry about being overweight with my body type but putting on a few pounds of muscle would be great. Difficult at 48 but doable.  Heart health as well. Currently sitting in the ICU with my father that just had triple bypass surgery, heart issues on both sides of my family so…

Oh and get a job in new career lol, way too young and we don’t have enough saved to retire just yet.

I certainly would not lead the debate on this topic🙂 That aside this book has provided conceptual thought into to what we consume for fuel. Some have gut challenges thus leading to digestive issues. The food food source for nutrients is not specific to one type of food. We all have our own paths  to follow. Yes I have found this book educational in many ways.
