Will Chase exceed his KTM win total & 450 MX title at Kawasaki??

In reading the "KTM thanks Chase Sexton" PR, despite the negative vibes he sure won a fair bit on the KTM, including a 450 MX title. Can he come close to that same success at Kawasaki??

I think he will like the bike more and feel more comfortable there but I think both Hunter and Jett are still getting faster and will be harder to beat as time goes on. I think we will see a better Chase, but maybe not one with as many wins or championships.

Once they find him some comfortability it will all come together for some silky smooth wins…..

It's Chase.

You'll get blinding speed and some opportunistic wins. You'll get awkward front end pushes. You'll get a guy who takes big hits, but keeps lining up. And you'll get some of the most ill-applied racecraft in the sport.

I think the question is....does the bike and the gamut of changes they're willing to make, overlap with Chase's peak abilities? I think probably not.

I heard the bike wasn't safe at race pace.

And can anyone do that at all, given that he's been on two of the top historical teams and left unsatisfied?

If he does, it will really surprise me. The Kawi's are notoriously 'rear steer' bikes. I think Chase rides with a big emphasis on the front end. He looked really good in the turns on the KTM. Way fewer washouts than on the Honda. Maybe I'm totally off the mark and he dominates on the green meanie? Time will tell, I suppose. It's a big risk for both Chase and Kawasaki.

Which make stands to gain or lose the most in the swap of riders? KTM really gets a free kick with Prado. IMO. After his debacle of a season this year, if he stinks the place up, it's all on him. If he wins, Kawi looks the turd. KTM has the upper hand from a marketing standpoint. Again, jmo.

I agree, the few times he was ON he looked really good on the KTM. Idk what way this kawi ordeal goes, he’s hard to please but I hope they figure it out and we see the best chase yet battling with the brothers every weekend.

No, the “bike” won’t be able to get him where he needs to be. The bike’s comfort will be directly related to the gap between he and his key competitors in lap times.

Chase is an incredible rider and a multi time champion but his mental game is unravelling a touch more each year.  Will win on his day, no doubt about it but the championship window has closed

I’m picking we see the best version of chase yet… as long as kawi are flexible with bike set up.

No Chase will not win another title as long as Jett n Hunter are racing. As soon as they are gone he’s a different person and will win again.

I love Chase, but I think this will end horribly

It will likely just be more of the same. Chase is a deeply flawed racer. Jett's greatest strength right now is that his main competitor couldn't even win the SX title this year with him and a past his prime Eli out injured.

And largely based on a terrible decision to attempt to pass Webb in Dallas triple crown, when he already had the victory locked up with a second place moto.

As an observer, it looks like he's willing to put in a lot more effort into absorbing bike imperfections during the honeymoon period, then over time he wants that effort to be less and for the bike to do more. By the time he leaves, the bike isn't working at all. A lot of that could be through aging, not wanting to endlessly take high levels of risk absorbing imperfections, and wanting to hit his peak speed more safely. It seems like he's changing at a rate that the teams are unable to keep up with. I think the validation for this theory will be if he comes out with strong results to prove everyone wrong, that they're all the problem and not him, but then if the results fade....you'll know it's him.

I wouldn’t lump Hunter in with Jett. Chase has already beat him for a title.

Chase will show some blazing speed because he is Chase. As a big fan of his, it pains me to say, I am highly skeptical that he will be able to avoid the issues that have always plagued him. I'd like to see him keep it on two wheels, and avoid the mid-season slump that has always hit him hard (particularly indoors). Controversial opinion, if he is able to do this, he is my favorite for both titles. The speed is unquestionably there, though like I said, I have to take the approach of skepticism due to his past.

He seemed fine in mx 2024 once Jett was out.

I asked the question but now I will answer-it's a pretty high bar to jump over. He was fast as fuck on the KTM at times, as in unbeatable. As we all know he also beat himself a bunch. Will he be fast? Of course. Faster, and more importantly, consistently faster? I don't think so, even though I hope so. Hope is not a strategy as we know.

That's not the new platform. They have super front end traction. Chase is going to love that part at least.

The older gen Kawi's were rear steer bias, but the current gen bike is very much a front steering bike. Any review will back this up. Should work well with how much Chase relies on front tire grip.

He beat rookie Hunter, he’s better now. Regardless, a happy healthy Chase can run with both of them.

Sorry, but Chase will retire before the Lawrence’s will.  Not being able to slay the Honda Brothers on a regular basis is bound to wear down even the strongest of competitors. I feel like this theory does not apply to Eli because he has already secured his legacy, and is riding now to absorb all of the love from fans all over the U.S. A.  Well, that and the Mega Sized paychecks.

Well said. I'm a big fan as well. Hoping he really gels with the KX. After the Prado debacle, I think Kawasaki will do absolutely everyhting they can to get his bike set up to his liking and show the bike can win.
