Kent raced several times

Smith, AC, Ellis, and Bell are all national champions that didn't go if that is accurate. Haiden's career isn't over and he's been selected so I don't think it make sense to put him in the list yet. Any of the others mentioned that didn't go achieve their status?

Knowing what their careers became, it's hard to believe that was considered a "B team".

I just read this thread up and down a few times to get the impact of a few names...

I think the names that hit me the most are Marty Smith (how is that possible?), Micky Dymond (whom I raced a lot in our teens) and Too Tall Mike Bell (one of my all time favorites).

In the last 30 years, I can only think of two national champs who've never been - Mike Brown and AC. Brown would've gone in 2001 and 2002 but '01 was after 9/11 and we didn't send a team and I think 02 was the year we tried to build a track or something for it and it fell through, so neither were totally the fault of the selection committee.

I can't remember why AC didn't go in '19 when he was national champ. What he hurt?

On Brown, you forgot the massive drama of 2005 when, supposedly, someone with a lot of pull convinced PC to give him slow engines and cause him to drop in the 125 outdoor standings and also influenced him right off the MXDN team in favor of a friend.

Oh, awesome, thanks for the correction. Man, look at that team! Whole bunch of characters!!! Legends.

Pretty sure they finished 2nd in 1974, which was like a win at the time for Americans.

As should as I saw the title I immediately thought of Bobby Moore, why he never got the nod after winning the WC in 94 I’ll never know.

What???? You're saying someone talked Mitch into giving his rider a slower bike? "supposedly"..... Did you hear that from your cousin's friend's sister in law's yoga instructor who met a guy at pickle ball who used to race with Mike "back in the day..... supposedly"???

Bump for an answer on AC. As I type this I just realized why. Kawi wouldn't send him. Mfer

Same reason we missed out on peak Tomac multiple times. Thanks Kawi.

Controversial, the Australian 1996 Team should have had Shane Watts, as he was the current 500cc champ.

You mean Shayne King and he was a New Zealander not an Aussie

Wattsy won the 1996 Australian 500cc title on his KTM 360 (I think) complete with headlight.  If I recall correctly it was only one round that year, but I could be wrong.

Wattsy was a legend rider, but I built an engine for a guy sponsored by a dealership he owned and they went bankrupt, and I never got paid, so fuck that guy 😂

No... Brown was on Hondas that year. He was beating the pants off of Mitch's riders.
