I agree with a lot of that, especially perplexed at de Wolf not being as good as last year and Vialle not being the same guy in the US.
I just think some of the GP guys, if they turn up In their best form, will give Deegan a decent run and he won’t have it as easy as in AMA. And absolutely anything can, and usually does happen at MXdN, that’s why it’s the best race of the year.

I think a lot of us can put aside his antics and be fine with him if he was healthy. You truly believe he’s going to be 💯 next week? My concern is he’s able to do one moto at 80% which is probably close to most at 💯 but then isn’t able to gut out the second that is going to be back to back with minimal recovery time between motos
No doubt, a 100% JCoop is significantly better than 80% Deegan. Add on JCoop’s experience and previous performance, he’s the better choice for sure.
What we don’t know is what Deegan has in the tank. This could turn out just fine, but it could also be a train wreck.

Granted it was flattrack but i did the Peoria TT a week and a half after mine once and it didn't bother me much at all compared to regular healing the other times.
Who knows really. We have seen people come back from collarbone break/plate and race 2 weeks later like they never missed a beat. He is throwing his own neck out there by still waving his arms to race for team USA like this, I do believe there is *not* a chance he will race like it's the last race of the year for big $, I think he will throw everything he has at it (like him or not) but not like a goon. But for him to continue on and put Jcoop as an alternate at this point, he better ride like his 'usual self', everyone is going to be watching and obviously expectations are high.
We have been waiting for 3 years to him give this a go, time to shine.
I was always taught to win with grace and lose with grace. Deegan does neither, that is part of why I don't care for his antics. As far as Kay De Wolf, he isn't representing the USA so what he did at the last round, was dirty but is not of reflection on the USA. So I do not want Deegan representing the USA. I will still be cheering our team on.
Swap reported that they are having them ride together on Monday and then make the final decision....

First, I can't fault him for trying. And . . .
People have in the last week complained he used this as an excuse to bail again. When it's clear he was going to try, now he doesn't deserve to go and is going to drag the team down. No doubt he's brought some of this on himself, but he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't (I don't think anything really changes the diehard fans and haters' takes).
No second guessing after the fact, though; if he goes forward and Cooper doesn't take his place no one can recreate any alternative reality, good or bad, imagining had Deegan stepped down. People will just backfill that imagination with whatever bias they have now.
Admire Deegan's talent; not a fan of the schtick, not a fan of him punking on other riders. One thing for sure, though: if you punk on other riders there are a lot more riders to punk you back when the opportunity is there.
