This is so stupid. We'd rather lose on our own home soil? If he can ride, he's easily the better Ironman choice on a 250 right now. I'm paying a lot of money to go watch nations. I want a USA win not a lucky to hit the podium team.

To each their own. I feel that it is a massive honor AND responsibility to represent the US on an international stage. After his BS in Vegas, I don't want him representing us

No hate for Deegan, but we have standards. Someone who race for pride and love for the Country, not to show fake patriotism for clicks and money !!! Win or loose go team USA !!!

I will never be emotionally distraught by the poor judgement of a teenager doing whatever-the-hell-that-was on Saturday night. I want another Chamberlain trophy for MY country of motocross racing brethren, no matter what.

To that point, I am stoked to hear that Hampshire, Cooper and Webb have stepped up to the plate, hoping this works out accordingly and we can kick some a$$!

Who is this "they"?

Right? Isn't Pellitier the guy that calls the shots? Seeing as how the AMA pounded Deegs with a whoppin' 5 point penalty after Vegas I can see them nut hugging until the day before. Somebody needs to tell Pellitier to shit or get off the pot.

I guess it depends on whether you believe a country should send their best riders no matter what or you believe the best representatives should participate.

I honestly wanted Deegan to pull his head out and let his riding do the talking because he's phenomenal but he's just a turd in the punch bowl. Sad really.

I forget, has RJ ever turned down the opportunity to race for us at the MXdN?

Has RJ ever done the look-back, swerve, brake-check, cross jump move like Deegan?

You're good to go if you plate your collarbone? I dont think an 80% Deegan with a plated collarbone is better than a 100% JCoop

I guess most of the people posting anti-Deegan were pretty well put together when they were 19. Me, not so much I genuinely was not the choir boy every Deegan hater in MX is, for a million and an international championship the list of things I wouldn't do would be pretty short.  Perhaps the backlash will serve as a growth opportunity for him. My fear is if he gets taken off the team for this, this whole shit show ends in court. Deegan received his prescribed punishments by written rules already, anything above and beyond like taking him off this team, may be construed as a hit to his and his sponsors exposure and income. Another point is DeWolf is racing right? I guess winning is important to some teams as opposed to piousness.

At this point I think he'd be detrimental to the team. Besides the injury and being a distraction, I think the GP guys would like nothing more than to clean his clock.

People will have different opinions on this, but I don't think POS people should get a pass just because they're really good at a sport or skill. Same with the Olympics, if our best swimmer is a POS and beats his wife, no way should he go represent our country. I think that we should have some standards.

How old does he have to be before people stop excusing him for his drama and bullshit?  30?

How many other riders his age in the 250 class bring any level of drama at all let alone the amount he brings?

The answer is zero.

I think the MX0N itself holds a level of prestige and is generally deemed a fun event...Deegan drama and BS is the last thing it needs.

How about older than 19? I would bet most older people on this site posting shitting about Deegan know or even have a 25 year old living in a basement hoping "to catch a break", all while smoking weed and playing video games for hours. Look what Deegan did was not cool and a bad example, punkish even, sure. But it is the exact behavior I have seen from kids and parents for years and years when my kids were in youth athletics. Not ideal, but typical. And if you think America is not about win at all costs, you need to revisit a little of our history, leaders, sports, and industrialists. If ideal behavior is our barometer for the MXoN, we are going to miss out on winning a lot in the future. We even won one year when Stanton parked a Belgian in a turn for the win. There is a lot of hypocrisy in this Deegan wich hunt.

This is my thought also. Same with Sexton. We need guys that are 100% and not a liability.

Plus we are less than 2 weeks out. We can't "wait a week" and see. We're lucky this year we are in the USA and we don't have to send equipment across the Atlantic but we still need time to get everything and everyone to Indiana.

He has a broken collar bone. Why would we send a handicapped rider?

lol, are you insinuating that Degs will sue the AMA if they don’t let him race Nations?? The same guy that turned it down two years in a row is now hurting his brand if he’s not on the team??? Bizarro world going on here

Why is an explanation needed for every post? I did not say he should or that I hoped he would, my point is in this litigious world, I would not be surprised if they found grounds to. The Deegan clan does seem to have an us vs. them/ adversarial type mentality..

Because your post was cryptic and was trying to see if I understood what you were trying to say

Totally understandable you would ask if he was insinuating the Deegans would sue if left off the team. Why would anyone suggest something that dumb lol

What's your take on Kay de Wolf last weekend? I've heard opinions across the board. My opinion is I don't like it when it's Tomac, Kitchen, Deegan, or de Wolf when the goal is contact instead of a pass, but I'm often in the minority on that take.

If Deegan can race and is atleast 80% healthy he’s the best 250 rider in the world. You guys saying he shouldn’t represent team USA deserve participation trophies I’m not driving from NY to Ironman to watch us lose…
