I’d at least take the plastics off and put ufo or something on it and keep those ones mint.

Chase Reed preferred those models. He said they would slide just right into corners.

Yea man I'd rock that thing for sure. Sweet bike. Like someone else said i wasn't a fan of yellow and those plastics are probably worth saving. Buy some cheap ufo.

No real novelty. I like the bikes and I don’t like used boogered up bikes. Still way cheaper than a new bike. And it will be fun to have a old hot rod 450.

You're right, brand new 20 year old bikes are as ubiqauitous as a Tesla and cheap as dirt.  😆

Good points on saving the plastic. I like the yellow and blue equally.

Man you have me thinking maybe just repost it.

Could be sad to ride something like this.

I have a new '07 Honda CR250 that I bought in 2012, with the intention of riding it.  After getting it home, I decided to just park it, and buy a used 07 that I found.  Based on prices I've seen at auctions and Ebay, it's one of the best investments I've ever made.  I also have an original FMF Jeff Ward Replica Honda Elsinore 100 that was fully restored by Scott Steger - 100 point restoration with NOS Honda parts, other than the FMF parts.   I bought it in 2013, to ride in VMX. When it arrived (Forward Air), I decided to park it next to the 07, and do my own restoration to ride. I'm not sure about it's value - I've never seen another one.  I'll tell you the same thing Scott told me about the 100 - don't ride it.  Keep it new, take it to shows, to SX/SMX Legends & Heroes displays, enjoy it, let others enjoy it and tell you stories about the one they had back in the day (and people WILL offer you good $ for it, if you're patient).  Look for a barely used newer bike, owned by some old guy, buy it cheap, maintain it, and ride it forever...  That bike might pay for a good used truck for your kids someday.

Best Wishes, and thanks for posting it!

If your cornering skill are lacking, you buy a bike that HELPS you corner, rather than hinders you...

I had an 08.  Might have been my favorite bike.  Do the "o-ring" mod on that FCR carb, add a slip-on and the bike is great.

Nickelback on the radio and no problems are contradictory.

I'd actually go find a used clutch an ignition cover on ebay for riding it

I had the 07 - there was a kit (Dr. D?) to lower the radiators, I felt like it actually helped the cornering a little. I remember it pushing a lot and being pretty mellow, but of course great suspension. I still regret selling my 05 CRF 450 to get that YZ, but overall it wasn't a bad bike. That's a heck of a find, congrats!

Riding that thing would be a tragedy!  What is the back story on it?  Did someone buy it to collect?

Had a guy show up at track with a 06 yz 450 that had 3 hrs on it. He let me take it out for some laps and I must say the power is right in that sweet spot. Have a 2025 yz 450 and it is a lot at times, the 06 felt skinny on top of bike with all the weight down low. Very manageable power like a 350

I got your message. Couldn't figure out how to respond.

I'm going to have to think about it.  The springs would work though.

I can’t understand how anyone in their right mind would choose a blue one over that beautiful yellow and black!

Probably a good idea to check shock nitrogen pressure, nitrogen is known to leak through the rubber shock bladder. Very little over an extended time, but a leak nonetheless. Nitrogen infused oil is no good either. Probably a good idea to change all the fluids. Despite being brand new, time is an enemy, there is a lot of work ahead to guarantee this bike is right.

That's badass, no way I'd ride it though besides a rip up the street or something. I wonder if there even are any new yellow ones around besides this one.

I had an 07 YZ250F and loved that bike!

roll those bars back set your sag and let er rip, best bike i ever had was my 08, 300+ hours and only ever changed the oil and air filter, its probly still running

Well.

I rode it today.

Didn’t do even 1/10 of what I thought i would.

Changed the pilot, changed the hot start plunger and nut, got it running well.

changed the air filter, Set the tire pressure, bled the forks, and rode it.

It’s good. Rear tire was a little drifty. Bike was predictable, engine was insanely smooth.

The white bros exhaust BARKS. Bike is mellow relatively for a 450 despite the 06 being a hot rod year compared to 07-09.

I’d compare it to a kx450 2024 or there abouts engine wise.

Rode a 2024 crf450 back to back with it and the crf is way faster. Takes 1/4th the throttle input to get around.

But overall, it’s a success: the bike is GOOD.

I disentegrated the shock bushing by the end.

So the list now is, tires, get the shock rebuilt, and change the oil.

The freaking thing was a blast. I was instantly comfortable, the throttle response/engine is very predictable, handling was predictable as well, I really enjoyed it.

this was really my experiment to see how far bikes had or haven’t come in 20 years. And overall, despite all the rave mag reviews every year, I’m really impressed with this 06!

the bike sounds like a nhra event going up the hills with that exhaust. I couldn’t even hear bikes around me on track, it was an experience lol. That era was wild for 4 strokes.

The 06 is a really strong bike, I still had mine when the 09 Honda came out LOL.... the new Honda did not compare well at all. Nor several other newer bikes. I think the goofy silencer and a few other things Yamaha did in 08 really neutered the 06-07 beast and took a big step back.

I would not ride it either, though it appears to have a little run time already

That ships sailed. It’s just another used 06 now. But it’s atleast not in Kensington doing wheelies in the city. It’s where it’s supposed to be. ♥️

Wasn't it 2007 when Langston won the outdoor mx450 title? I beleive it was the year Josh Grant, Allesi, Short and so many other riders were injured. But he still wouldn't have surged at the last few races to take the title until Yamaha got him on the 2008 450 chassis since the 06-07 chassis and geometry sucked so bad.
