The front wheel had Epstein-Barr...
Maybe Chase can sift through this thread and get learnt some physics from vitalmx.com
https://www.vitalmx.com/forums/Moto-Related,20/Have-you-ever-used-your-…
My thoughts... dirt in the lever from the tip over, brake heats up as a result, at some point its going to stop... or am internal blockage on the return bleed in the master cylinder... Had both happen, not often, but often enough.
Pretty sure it's exactly the opposite, that's why they rear wheel brake tap to bring the rear up. Stop the front with the rear under power off the jump and the rear drops.

I understand why he played dumb, but I.H. is full of shit in his response.
Unlikely that Chase boner airs like that with the front wheel locked up and it’s not a bike issue. It locked on the face, and he gave it gas to try to compensate, but just gave it too much and once the wheel left the take off, he looped out.
This crash adds to the one he had during the week before Ironman. Wonder if we see him back before charlotte
^^^ This is the most accurate explanation. Really odd how he keeps having such freak things happen.
Apparently according to KTM is was not the bikes fault it was the tracks fault - It happens a lot to KTM's on that jump.
I was standing right between the finishe line and that wall jump yesterday as it happened. I was keeping eye on him catching the leaders and I saw him launch it and start to come off the back of it. I ran down to the announcer tower with about 20 others and watched him try to get back on the bike. It was wide open. When it landed the throttle was jammed and the front brake was locked. You can see in the video he tried to ride it and it wouldn’t go anywhere. I watched him walk up the hill past us. He had a killer stare. Didn’t say a word, didn’t look at anyone just straight ahead stare. You could tell he was fuming. Later on I heard a few mechanics talking and saying “did you see sextons front brake lock up and his bike was stuck wide open”
He's just lucky he didn't break a leg on that landing.
The times i have done it, the front end came down in a hurry. Note, the wheel was turning then stopped so the inertia came downward. Perhaps Chase left the ground with it stopped so there was no inertia.
I was screwing around with it one day. Just a tip, don't do this. Its not healthy. Complete Goon.
Edit: don't do it while wheeling either. If you were curious.
How did they end up getting the bike off the track? Jake Dungey or the whole team?
Something a lot of people aren’t recognizing is that the front brake can be dragging where it will still roll on the ground but once in the air there’s not enough resistance so it will stop spinning, so it didn’t have to be locked up on the face for this to happen. It could have been rolling and then stopped in the air because the brake was still dragging which is why he was immediately off balance. When he was rolling around afterwards you could see it wasn’t locked up but still somewhat engaged and would grab randomly.
After Chase walked by me I watched another couple of laps and went to the other side of the track to get my bike from the Legends & Heroes display and go to the Star Yamaha tent. I didn’t see his bike come off the track
I love how Ian Harrison couldn't tell you anything about what happened and hadn't talked to Chase but he could 100% confirm it was not a mechanic issue "or anything like that" lol.
Was probably electrical.
Pit Row
The bike has a rotor guard too, just really unfortunate it happens to only him. Everyone else was riding the same track
I don't know what video you were watching, his front wheel was rotating as he left the jump...
it stopped rotating at the same time his rear wheel stopped rotating, you can see his foot on the rear brake lever...
His rear wheel started rotating as soon as he released the rear brake...
Bike's sideways, his legs are splayed, he is out of control...
Lands rear wheel first, with left foot on foot peg, right foot on ground, ass on seat...
Front wheel rotates when he lands...
Rookie error!
What caused his Pala crash? Seemed awfully strange also
It's the scoop tires fault.
Hitting the rear brake produces a torque that twists the swingarm/frame forward, so the front of the frame twists downward; the rear wheel stays in (essentially) the same position, the front wheel drops.
Hitting the front brake produces a torque that twists the forks forward, and in turn the rear of the frame upward; the front wheel stays in (essentially) the same position, the rear wheel rises.
By chance, did you draw force diagrams in high school or college physics? Remember the concept of, "for every force, there exists an equal and opposite force?" If not, Google force diagrams, and try drawing one for each situation, with the bike in the air, and not leaning to the right or left; for extra credit, draw a force/torque diagram for locking both brakes, and another while the bike is tilted in the air!
Heads up riding from Hunter; he switched up his line to avoid hitting Sexton as he left the jump face.
Okay, sounds like the throttle stuck wide open before the jump (possible front brake, too), probably grabbed whatever brake he could, dead sailored because he had no gyro from either wheel, landed, and trashed the bike further.
What I want to know if if AMA will fine him for not providing an interview 🤣
Regardless of what happened, I don't understand how he even thought about getting back on the bike after what I would have assumed was a broken ankle, broken wrists, and obliterated jewels...
So, what you're saying is that the inertia of the spinning wheel has less influence over distance than the momentary force of the wheel stopping? Isolated from any influence of the rear wheel, spinning or stopped?
We have the new seat bounce. . . 😂
[BTW, real questions, not bashing, just trying to understand the logic - the math behind the physics is out of my league)
Because a stopped wheel RISES in the air over a jump. It’s common practice to tap the rear brake to bring the rear of the bike up while in the air. Adding throttle and spinning the wheel makes it go down.
That's if you stop the rotation in the air, if it's stopped previous, there's no transfer of energy to bring the front end down.
Also, if Chase had hit the brake after the pothole, once the front wheel is stopped, it does not have to be "locked up"
there's just nothing to start it rotating again. So either way not enough info to actually know.
In the first photo in the chain above, you can clearly see Chase’s right hand full on the grip under the brake lever, and no finger over the brake lever….so idiotic ideas HE stopped the front wheel at that high speed jump is stupid…not that I need a picture to know that. Chase didn’t make a “rookie” error. No rookie pro would make that error. Hell, I would never make that error. Nobody with any time on a bike would make that error. Anyone suggesting otherwise either hates Chase, or has zero seat time. If you don’t ride then don’t make riding opinions like you know anything. It was a mechanical of some sort. Bike, bent rotor, rock, mud…something like that. Amazing that between the shock absorbing some of the impact and hitting the ground that he was not injured….as far as we know.
btw…you can’t tell the front wheel is turning from the angle in that blury first frame. Just that it is too blurry to see knobbies. Watching the replay you can never see rotation.
