Wish there was a better video, but I was on the flight deck of the USS Vinson for this event. Launched a bunch of warbirds off the deck as part of a 50th VJ Day anniversary. We were right off Waikiki. The aircraft were craned aboard in Alameda, CA. (Hopefully I haven’t posted this before..)

Our house was on G hill, which overlooked the city of Glendale and borderlined EagleRock. Right across the street from my house was acres of trails, tracks treehouse's and forts we made. Here’s something that’ll never happen these days. Kids waking up in the morning to shoot birds with pellet guns. The weekend before, my uncle Rick took me up to Twin Pines in Gorman. I shot a dove. He showed me how to clean and cook it. Dee, the guy in the pic had never shot a dove. So, Friday night I tell him, let’s wake up early, wait in your backyard and, hopefully one lands in your backyard. We spread birdseed all over the place.
