Any news on the new 2-strokes at Loretta’s?  I was thinking they might drop news on the new 85/112 and 150 given the target rider for those bikes.  Anything?

‘85? Nice. Raced one of these out in West Texas (Idalou) sometime back.

Sweetness.

I got home after school one day and my oldman is sitting in the garage entrance with a beer...behind him was two brand new 1986 KX125's. XMas came early that year.

If the seat cover matches OE (outlined letters instead of solid ones) , that would seem to be correct.

I’m starting to think the 85/112 may be done… Unless they drop them at the same time as giving the info on the new 2 strokes, but those are going to be 27 models and we are already in August.

They are waiting to see who wins the FI vs Carb debate before they continue with development. 😂

Things I’ve given up interest on:

- New Kawasaki two strokes

- Updated Suzuki RMZs with an e-start

- Yamaha making a YZ350F

- RC to unlock his potential in the sx booth

- The PulpMX app to come out on Friday

What's wrong with releasing 2026 models next January?  It's not 2026 yet, so it makes sense to release then.  If they do it now, they're 2025 models.

A strong OEM can influence the AMA very easily......  Especially if said OEM sponsors the largest Amateur national here.  Japan can alter AMA rules easier than many think......  Money talks.  Just ask Yamaha.

How did that work for Honda and the 150 four stroke they introduced for the 85 class?

Is it not legal to race in the 85 class?  Honest question I don’t pay attention to minibike rules.

No. It is in supermini, where it is at a pretty big hp and weight disadvantage.

Basically 3hp down from a stock KX and probably 8+ hp down from some of the KTMs in the class.

They are a real nice small trail/wife bike, though.

I would add the Honda electric motocross bike to your list.

Correct, it's an 85. Still finishing up a couple things, front brake and jetting then she'll be done.  I raced one back in 85, up in Kansas.

I think the 85/112 is coming before the 150/300.  “Insiders” say there are a few new 2-strokes coming, not just the big bore.  Wouldn’t make sense to walk away from the smaller displacements.  Hopefully we’ll get something official soon.

Suzuki just came out with a new GSXR the current CEO is supposedly set on bringing a whole new line of street bikes and RMZs. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see it in a year or two.

I listened to the vital testing podcast (it’s good) and ML said it’s almost definitely a 300. His reasoning made sense. Then also mentioned another bike, sounded shaky if it would be a 85 or a 125/150

This thing is taking so long, four strokes will be back in fashion before it arrives.

I heard it's because 2-stroke engines are considered the future. Most engine manufacturers with some pride are investing in two-strokes, gone are the days of Electric.... Wink Even powertool manfufacturers are looking into how to scale down electric tools and replace with two stroke engines Wink

its the same gsxr as my 17 & 19 were with some updates. most certainly not a "new" bike like the jump between the 17' and prior gen or any other gen jump before it. i had high hopes for it being ALL NEW but nope, of course not.

Bought my 85 KX125 end of 85 with under 10 hours on it and started racing spring 86. A few hare scrambles and a few moto. Fast bike never lost a drag race against other 125's, the clutch cable would fray at clutch cover every other month. Pic from early 86.

Are you sure it’s not a recent pic ?  Cool if it was racing a 85 kx125 yet.   Anyone ever tell ya , you look like McGoo Rip  . Not a bad thing I was a fan. I like going fast real fast was his line.
