Crumbs, I forgot about him until you mentioned it with this thread. Can only be some sort of injury keeping him home or did he have a SX deal only???
Anyone?
He had a good run here. 450 outdoor champ and a couple 250 number one plates. 450 mx titles don’t come easy but he beat them straight up that year.
Three number one 250 plates, to be precise.

1 of those three is also a national champion. He's a 2x national champion. In his prime on Star he was a joy to watch.
Beat Tomac and Kenny outdoors like nobody did before since they went on the 450s. He truly was a monster in 2021. I wonder what could have been if he didn't split up with DV.. It also felt like he didn't have the same kind of motivation anymore after he won the 450 championship. Obviously getting hurt in 450 SX year after year didn't really help to build up to this level again..
From RedBud Pit Bits.
The wheels make that bike look so good.
'21 mx Dylan was a unit! He really seemed like a cant miss guy in sx, too. He was absolutely incredible on a 250 indoors. He had better laptimes than the 450 sometimes. Thats why I never put a lot of stock in comparing 250 vs 450 laptimes. Doesn't mean the 250 guy will automatically be even faster on a 450. He came back from an injury in '22 to race the MXdN and at times at that race, looked like the fastest dude in the world. He never gelled with the new Yamaha chassis. Which is interesting when you think about it. Dylan in '21 and Eli in '22 were amazing on that gen Yamaha. The current gen Yamaha chassis has been proven in sx but not had the same success outdoors.
If he is under $100k I'm throwing him on the fantasy team.. Always glad to see some badasses return to racing.
We really got robbed in 22 when he tore his UCL in Pala, could have been an even better season with Dylan defending his #1. Seems like age has caught up with him just a little more quickly than a few of his peers. Some of my favorite races involve Dylan though, guy was relentless in his prime.
Ferrandis dominated the 2021 450 class in the outdoors. I remember thinking we were about to have a DF14 era, but it never panned out. Unfortunately, injuries got to him, and he never seemed to get back in form
Prime Ferrandis was a treat to watch. I was really hoping to see him get it all together again but just has been injuries and just weird years, for the last couple years, unfortunately. He was so aggressive looking on the 250 and the '21 Star 450 and it just seems like he never looked the same after. I still think the '21-'22 Star 450 is probably underrated. DF, Eli, AP, Craig all just ripped on that bike. Plus I think even Nichols said he helped do testing on it and said how good it was and easy to set-up.
I've always liked Dylan, except when he took out Christain that time.
I mean this as a joke, but how does Phoenix racing expect to compete when they not running a scoop tire like 99.9% of the other teams? I believe seeing Dylans bike with a "conventional" knobby is the first time I've seen a pro bike without a scoop in 2025
Dylan needs added to Fantasy.
Just last year he finished in the top 5 3x in outdoors & 6th once.
Depends how prepared he is but i mean barcia got a 5th in his 3rd race back. I see no reason Ferrandis can't do the same.
I swear I read or heard on some podcast that he’s coming back this weekend but I can’t seem to find anything that corroborates that so I must be wrong.
Somebody forgot to add him to the list. Any chance someone will update it?
Pit Row
I’m with you. I was going to post he’s returning this weekend because I remember hearing it but I can’t find anywhere that says it now!
You know there's been Millville, since, right?
😉
More importantly, how do they expect him to win on a 250 in the 450 class?!
That’s just a roller/display bike.
Looks like RACING up there found where we read that at but looking at the entry list he isn’t on there. Doesn’t seem like he’s racing this weekend from what I can tell.
Missed that!
He would probably do better on the 250 in the 450 class. Lighter bikes handle better. I,m not sure if fc figured it out yet they used to be awesome. If a rider says stiffer it usually doesn’t mean stiffer springs . It’s valving it’s not just customers that hv this problem , trust me.
I’ve read he and Barcia signed with Ducati ?
I’ve heard the same thing.
“Thats why I never put a lot of stock in comparing 250 vs 450 laptimes. Doesn't mean the 250 guy will automatically be even faster on a 450.”
Uh-oh… fans of the #38 don’t wanna hear it bro!🙈
DF has a strange career. Am I missing something as to why he “fell off” from the top? He still is a solid rider and has a great career going. But the 250 titles then the 450 titles where he was just an animal to now is just weird. I heard the stories about his training and diet etc… when he was winning was insane.
Head injuries. They end a lot of careers.
