electric start would go a long way IMO. The bike isn't bad, I have a 2019. I think they look awesome, though the 2026 is blah...I think it looks better with white number plates than yellow.

Kawi was the last to introduce electric start, I think it was in 2021. No reason Suzuki can't get estart on a bike and really no reason they shouldn't IMO.

Kawi: 2019 on the 450, 2021 on the 250

We got a Suzuki update before a Kawasaki 2 stroke up date. That’s crazy😂

Bike of the decade. No need to change. 😉

The last decade, anyway.

Suzuki had some political road blocks in the way of R&D of their competition motorcycles. I am optimistic that the RMZ line will get updated in the not too distant future from some information I have heard.  I knew a couple weeks ago that there would not be any changes for 2026. To be honest, I am surprised they even changed graphics and plastic for 2026. I know its a joke around here but I do believe something is finally in the works for the motocross line. Unfortunately, I think those bikes have taken a back seat to some other models that recently got updated (DRZ4S, GSX 8T)

I heard around the pits at GH that suzuki was approved for a new bike. I inquired how long that would take & it takes roughly 2-3 years to go to market depending how far along in the process they are.

I would say that's probably an accurate time frame for an all new model. We just don't know what all they have been working on prior. I heard from a very reliable source that Suzuki did have an electric start engine for the 450 in the works around when they redesigned the 2018 model but it was cut from development and only the new chassis/suspension went into production. If that's true, a new bike could happen sooner. Whether or not they want to update the 250 at the same time would also affect the time frame.

Are there any rules that would make this bike eventually ineligible for AMA competition in it's current form? I realize they are calling this a 2026 model, we all know that this is a load of bullshit...but in reality it's what...a 2012 or something?? Not many people are running this bike at the national level, but at some point, not having e-start could be a safety or competition issue.

The bike is so good, it needs no changes 😁 If only these came stock with yellow Takasago's....

Suzuki's are just too fast for most people, that's why you don't see a lot of them at the track...

It's sad that they don't put at least a little R&D in to them...  But, as mentioned many times, it's still the best looking 450 made.

Last year I saw my local dealer list the RMZ450 for $4,995 and just could not pass that kind of a deal up. The 24 RMZ I now have is a great bike and is super fun to ride. I'm getting back to wanting to go faster and maybe try to race some fun Vet races so I'm totally happy with my purchase. I think they should keep the price at $4,995 and offer the bike as a good entry level race bike to get into racing at a bargain.

Question for the RMZ owners: I hear the shock is not great and replacing with the KYB from the 250 is preferred. How about the 450 forks? Good to go with perhaps springs and valving to suit?

This RMZ 250 should be a $ 5995 base price.

For that price add an exhaust and revalved suspension and enjoy!  Nothing wrong with that bike.

Stock shock for me. Fork and Shock done by Enzo in So Cal. Both work great. No complaints about the forks or shock. I will say, they aren't Yamaha done by Enzo level forks and shock, but Enzo still has the RMZ suspension pretty dialed in either way. Even with lack of seat time and confidence as far as riding goes, I know how the suspension is going to react in just about every situation.

When I rode the bike with stock suspension back on New Years of 2020 it was still decent, but definitely did feel very balanced from what I remember and the shock felt a bit funky which may have added to the unbalanced feel.

Just get the stock shock revalved.  I have ridden Pro Circuit, Race Tech, and Enzo BFRC shocks and they are all good.

Build them? These are old stock that’s never left the factory 🤣🤣. Refaced with new plastics!

Bring back the 2008 RM250

Best 2 stroke 250 engine ever made. Nothing wrong with the new chassis though.

The forks are the same 49MM Showa forks that come on the CRF 450, KX 450/250. Nothing wrong with them at all. Actually the valving is pretty good for most average riders once you get the right springs and get the bike balanced in the rear.

ill bet I've called 6 dealers over the last few months with leftover 24s and the cheapest I've found was low/mid 7s otd. even out of state. I see people saying they got them for 5k otd but I sure cant find one. local dealer wants 7800 for a 25, I can get a kx for cheaper.

I experienced the same thing. I ended up getting mine for 6500 otd

I had a 2020 with the stock suspension done by RG3, longer dog bone, etc.  It was better, but not nearly as good as putting the KYB shock on my 22 and having JBI give the fork the "pro" set up.

The difference imo is that the KYB shock allows the bike to settle much better going into and through turns.  The BFRC tends to hop around and the KYB is much better planted.

I recently sold my 2022 and wish I hadn't.  It's nice to have a "low tech" bike that fires up first kick every time.  Yeah, its heavy to put on a stand and push around, but I never noticed the weight while riding and it's still a 450,so has plenty of power.

The weight thing is propaganda, they weigh the same as the other bikes.

I bleed blue but I love how the Suzuki looks. I raced a 2015 RMZ years ago and that bike was a tank. Indestructible. I crashed in a muddy NEPG and ripped the air boot off of the throttle body. I raced for like 20 miles longer with the throttle body sucking in the breeze. Fixed the boot and rode it 30 more hours without issue.

The RMZ serves a great purpose as long as the price stays lower than the rest. It's 90-95% just as good of a bike.

Your post makes entirely too much sense! 🤣

My 2013 RMZ was essentially unkillable, I crashed about 20 miles into a desert trail and breeched the clutch cover. It was a super hot day and I was alone so I had to ride it back. Bike was losing oil, got me to my truck safely just as the engine was changing pitch. Replaced the clutch cover threw oil in it and it ran like nothing every happened. Kept it around another 100+ hours with no issues.

I'm not seeing any official releases on the 2026 bike on their website, IG or Social Media at this time though. So I have some deep coping going on that this isnt the 2026 RMZ.
