Ooooh no, I can't believe it.
SX is his thing... Period.
31 rounds.....31 fawking rounds....this is out of control.
I wonder if it was that incident where he got up all frustrated and cussing. It looked like a knee-jammer.
Too much at stake in SMX and for him not to get healed up. Also better to get fixed up now and come into boot camp ready to defend his title in SX too. I get it
Webb out,,,,,,, Since SX ended, I never really noticed if he was even in.
Eli I guess 😅
The surprise of the summer, had it not been for SMX he would have been out all summer.
In before Herr Lich
Cooper is a bad ass! Never cared much until this season and saw what a stud he is. Whats actually funny are the guys who give him shit about this or that. Talk about clueless.
3 time SX champion has been grinding it out and getting respectable outdoor finishes.
All to keep is SMX ranking as high as possible.
Taking time heal, rest and come out swinging for the big dollar races.
Seems to have been Chase's plan.
(Albeit not at first)
Maybe a bit of time off for Tomac wouldn't be such a bad idea either.
Sad to see Webb out, but suddenly Justin Cooper looks like a legitimate long shot for 2025 SMX Champion.
EDIT: Sorry, I forgot the points will reset. He may be the points leader at round 1, though!
Heal up quick, CW2!
This is what I don't like about the whole SMX series and the points structure of the playoff rounds.
The series is advertised around HURR DURRR "31 rounds winner gets a million dollars", then the points earned in the first 28 rounds are literally rendered moot by round 2 of the playoffs by points being multiplied.
The last 2 years with Jett winning the final prize says everything. May as well rename the playoffs to Jett's Ferarri money.
The seeding points aren't quite irrelevant. They are worth 14% of the final score. Last year Jett and Hunter tied for the championship, but Jett won the tiebreaker with the better finish in the finale.
I wonder if it would be any better if SX and MX each had their own seeding points. That would make the SX season worth 12.5% and the MX season worth 12.5%.
Current standings:
Webb 516
Cooper 502
Plessinger 459
Sexton 398
Stewart 385
Jett 361
Hunter 301
Tomac 297
Based on the way things have been going, Justin Cooper was probably going to pass Webb in the standings. Plessinger was maybe going to catch Webb if he stayed healthy. And Jett most likely would pass him. So Webb might have finished somewhere around 4th (18 points).
By sitting out, Cooper, Sexton and Jett will most likely pass Webb. If Plessinger probably needs to hit 2 rounds to catch Webb. Hunter is gonna be very close. One bad race and he probably can't catch Webb. Same with Tomac. I don't think Stewart can get there. So that puts Webb around 6th or 7th (15 points) in the final SMX pre-standings. So it's probably only costing Webb about 3 seeding points to skip the rest of the MX season.
Webb is 7th in the MX-only standings. That would be worth 15 points if the MX/SX points were separate for SMX seeding. By sitting out, he'll drop to around 14th, which would be 8 points.
Pit Row
Will Craig line up this weekend?
LoL the whole forum knows his shtick. Post the super fat Webb pic again. Its hilarious
He is 29 going on 30. he could hang it up any day and still be BA, many have done that younger. The fact he is still out there is a choice.
The playoff format is gimmicky (I'd argue in any sport, but especially in motorsports) but it kinda makes sense in this case. (Still think the x2 and x3 points are stupid, though.) The current points format rewards consistency too much for 28 rounds in a sport where injuries are almost inevitable. No disrespect to J Coop, but unless he wins after the points reset, I don't think alot of people would really accept him as the 450SMX champion.
Yep. This is why i respect Roczens approach. Hes honest and you know if he races at all its just for some SMX points. These guys beat the im in for outdoors drum damn well knowing once they are locked in a certain spot mathematically they will be "injured" when its time to go sit on the couch.
Something’s not loading for me, or I’m blind. What’s Webb’s injury?
Instagram post was loading earlier, but now it doesn't load.
Twisted up his knee at RedBud and will get a minor procedure done to clean things up. Going to concentrate on coming back for the SMX rounds.
Well now they have more spare motors for eli.
Doesn't really matter, dude is completely irrelevant outdoors
Hope he heals up for SMX
SX TITLE check just cleared ,
Judas Priest :
" You'd be doing it too " !!
The SMX title is a gimmick title as it is. Its not a SX or MX title. Why wouldn't JCoop be the SMX champ if he won it? Jett won it the first time not even racing 450 sx and the second time missing 6 rounds of mx.
the dude leading the SMX standings (prior to the 3 round playoff) should get like a $500k prize for accumulating the most points in Sx + MX.(for both classes)
they deserve it for showing up to all the rounds and leading the points ala jcoop ,AP etc.
