We can keep going down this rabbit hole but Tom’s only raced American MX for 2.5 years, as opposed to RJ’s 10? Seasons. I think they’re pretty even but Tom has the edge and a higher ceiling

Not sure if you actually follow the series or not, but dont believe everything you hear. What Geerts just did is break a big toe -and go back to his usual mantra "Man, I can't catch a break".

Oh my bad, did he not win a quali race just a few weeks ago? And can you point me to where he said what you quoted him as saying?

Full disclosure, I skipped pg 4 of this thread in an effort to catch up on the topics I have any interest in but does anyone have a real explanation why Gajser is out at Honda?  Doesn’t make sense to me.  He was more than likely on his way to another title before he got hurt.  Nothing against TV but I don’t see Honda hiring him for MXGP as an upgrade over a multi-time world champion that still is a title threat.  Somebody break it down for me in simple terms for my simple mind!  😎

Yeah letting TG go is wild. Hes elite and "only" 28yrs old. Is HRC going all in on getting the Coenen's? Is it a contact year...

It might not be HRC "letting TG go" it might be out of their hands

Tim’s over Honda? Or just wants a change/new challenge?

What’s with Tim and Honda, mutal parting or is one over the other? It’s not like he’s not going to be title contender next year.

Is tim not under contract in 26 maybe even 27 with Honda?? Only way he leaves Honda if Ducati throws Large Euros at him. All these rumors are just rumors. Tim threw away the 24 and 25 title. All his titles are on Honda. These are the only facts we know. I hope he stays he's the fastest on the 450s over there.  That young coenen kid is and will be a threat from now on.

I do follow mxgp .  Have been for the past 8’ish years. Gertz had 2 flashes of brilliance in mxgp, as I recall.  Mxdn 2’ish years ago and the quali you mentioned.  Not bagging on Gertz at all and wanted him to win over Tom for mx2 title. Sucks he got hurt during those times.  Was expecting more from him in mxgp when he moved up. Probably out at Yamaha after this year.

Pretty sure it was Lewis Phillips who floated that opinion. So it didnt come from someone uninformed. Whether you agree or not, winning one qualifying race certainly doesnt prove him wrong

It’s interesting watching how people talk about international riders coming to the U.S. Just a few years ago, when Team USA struggled at RedBud, the common narrative was, “Well, we focus on Supercross, while the Europeans focus on Motocross.”

Now Prado—an MX specialist—comes over, doesn’t dominate in his first year, and suddenly the tone shifts: “The U.S. is just faster.”

But where’s the same energy when Vialle, who had virtually no Supercross experience before coming here, beats the American Supercross specialists and wins two titles?

And why don’t we see threads questioning the U.S. riders getting beaten by someone new to the discipline? No talk of “panic buttons” there.

We might just find he found he would rather have multiple world titles to his name than a few regional ones after all ;-)

No one cares about regional titles.

Tom is riding a combination of SX, MX, MXGP and SMX on a 450 next year.
That’s my translation from this post.

Vialle better than RJ. I'm not so sure about that.

Watched the MXDN 1994 from Matterly Basin last night, his father won the 125 class that year.

Not sure what you're watching but the 1994 Nations was in Switzerland and Paul Malin won the 125 class...

That's a bummer. I think Tom can be very good here on 450. He might not blow the doors off his rookie year, but I think he can build into a race winner and maybe even an outdoor champion.

Its a nice stepping stone title before they move up to 450 sx but I can't say I personally disagree with you. Would have been much more impressive if Tom won a  National title. But Deegan has waxed his ass

He’s shutting the rumors down. A close friend said he’s staying in the USA, his grandfather said he’s staying in the USA and now he’s saying he’s staying in the USA. But for some reason people still think he’s going back to the MXGP’s 🤷‍♂️

Vialle also said he's looking forward to riding a 450 at Southwick. I really think Tom wants to be on a different bike.

At that level of competition, regional sx titles don't have near the clout as a 450 sx or mx title has, or a 250 mx title for that matter.

People talk about RC being a 15 time champion and that does not include his regional titles. They are racing a shorter series with less competition.

No one said they’re as prestigious as a 450 title. Soggy said no one cares about them, which is absolutely stupid to even think, let alone say (or type) out loud.

Why do you believe that? Not disagreeing with you, just curious. Outside of the instability of KTM as a company, their Factory 450 looks as good or better than any of them

That's just because it wasn't supposed to leak this early.

I’m just stating a fact. The regional titles are not talked about when a riders career is all said and done.  I actually like Vialle. It’s better for our series if he were to stay and after next year Theres is going to be a huge void to fill in the 450 class so I hope he stays.

When people talk about Justin Hill does anyone mention he won a 250 Regional title?  No.

Ok sure. His friends and family care. That’s the equivalent to graduating college I guess?  Not a big deal to anyone except those that know you personally?

I care. The vast majority of fans who root for their favorite riders care. You’re one of the very few who thinks it doesn’t matter at all.
