Matthes, Gypsy, GL8 Drama 🍿

It’s been said multiple times Matthes sued Yamaha. GL says it again and Matthes calls him out to prove it. I’d like to see the proof. If you can’t prove it maybe you shouldn’t be saying it.

What is stupid about Brian's response is he is all about swap being over at his rig asking questions. As long as you do nothing but praise everything they do, you're good. If not, they throw a hissy fit and won't interview with you again.

Yeah, far left, with such opinions as “do your thing, I’ll do my thing, and we’ll all like supercross.” Truly radical stuff. lol

I like Steve’s content but definitely disagree with his personal and political views. I think for the most part he provides good content. I think where things went south in the last couple weeks was the whole supercross pride post and Steve sticking up for them saying “sorry if your gay and you like supercross and you had to witness some of the top riders bash you”. I think that pissed off a lot of people (GL8, Ping, Deegan) so that with the comment about Hopper probably made them pop there top. I think when you operate a business in the public’s eye you should try and keep your personal and political views to yourself. We live in a day and age where if you say anything like that you immediately loose have your followers. I feel more than less of the industry is of republican views so that’s why it looks like people are ganging up on Steve. Again all this could be avoided if you just don’t comment on shit like Gay Pride month or Trump or Biden. Like I said before my beliefs don’t line up with Steve’s at all but if he just kept it professional and didn’t comment on the other shit it would be smoother sailing. Saying things like Deegs rips but he’s a real ass hole on the podium I 100% support because it’s relevant to our sport and is true. But commenting about political shit or getting in to a middle school argument calling someone out for being broke just makes you look just as dumb and the people your arguing with. 

To be fair, the bar for “journalism” has never been lower, even outside our little sport, so it’s not just them…

I wonder if any of these "top" moto "journalist" have a background or even a degree in journalism?? I really don't need to wonder about that. 

I blame the internet and lack of written literature these days for the current state or moto journalism.

I liked the question by hopper.  Maybe some would prefer he asked about track conditions, setup, next weeks race like everyone else?

My phone needs to stop spying on me. The Hopper video where he reacted and commented on Mathes video just popped up at the top of my algorithm lol. 

The only people calling these guys journalists are fans. How could anyone be a legitimate journalist in this sport when people like Brian Deegan throw an absolute tantrum and won't do another interview if you report anything negative? It's interesting him saying Steve intimidates riders, Is that not what he did to the kid at Loretta's? 

I think this is all more than a little weird. These men are adults, if they have differences they could speak to one another about it rather than air it to the public. It seems they are all desperately seeking affirmation from the public, despite the fact that the vast majority gives very little shit about any of them. The talk of professionalism is so laughable from this group. Jace can't interview anyone without spewing profanities every third word and using the word dude as a verb, noun, and adjective. While Matthes has Keefer on his show often times nonstop jerk off talking and being that creepy middle aged creatin hiding under stairs at the high school looking up girls' skirts. Please if any of you weirdo podcasters are reading this, and I think you do, you are all just the clowns of the circus of pro motocross and your chosen career is to entertain us, nothing more. Please do not tell us whom of your competitors you approve of or not, most of us do not care.

Can't wait for the season to begin.

I think what we need to remind ourselves that all these people are extremely immature and uneducated.

We also saw that recently with Lawrence brothers agents behavior. 

Yes they can appear to be grown men -  have families, businesses etc . 

But.

They are emotionally stuck in the late teen / early 20’s stage of brain development. Part of that stage is a limited ability to moderate your emotions and a tendency toward impulsive behavior which all the guys in this little contretemps are displaying. 

This stage of development also entails the “imaginary audience” phase - basically where you think people are really interested in what you say and/or do. Also an inability to grasp realistic perspectives and an inflated sense of self.  There are many other behavioral traits displayed at this stage.

Most people grow out of this and mature by late 20’s / early 30’s . Some don’t ..

We should all empathize with these people because whilst most of us mature as we gain age these poor guys will be forever stuck in a revolving door of childlike behavior and more than likely have conflict and issues with others throughout life. 

Sad and as many here have said all made worse by airing their little spat in public. 

I thought the question was a silly ‘gotcha’ attempt to be clever that may have put Plessinger in an awkward position. I’d much rather have seen Hopper just ask and confirm Tomac’s move more directly, and with the truly involved parties. 

But even if I thought it was a stupid question, this whole back and forth on social media is far, far more stupid than that. Especially the guys who inserted themselves into the ‘story’ that should have probably stayed between Hopper and Matthes. 

That is all well and good as long as you are fine with the people you agree with keeping their opinions to themselves as well.

The world would be a better place if everyone would STFU about their political leanings.

Everyone questioning whether any of these guys are "journalists", see below and by definition they are.....just like RC is a broadcaster and so is Weege.  One is terrible and one is great and the best part is you get to choose what you like.  

The reason Steve, Vital, Swap, and others don't go to the press conferences is they are a joke.  Only the top 3 riders are there, and they likely don't want to be, and nothing comes out of them.  The interviews in the pits from all of those sources are far better.  

Yet here you are crying about it. 😭

If I had millions in the bank you'd never see or hear from me unless we crossed paths on the ski hill or the mx track. Pretty crazy how these rich dudes just choose to miserable instead of enjoying what they have.

Mainstream journalism died when the Fairness Doctrine was 86’d; moto journalism has always been about selling not reporting. The internet introduced the ability for anyone to monetize clicks and likes, and what we have now has zero relationship to old school journalism.

That said, even journalism school grads can be shitty “journalists.”

I personally think Hopper was out of line asking the question like Tomac wasn't there. It's putting riders in compromising positions that doesn't end well when teams, manufacturers, energy drink companies etc all have big legal departments. Trying to get some backhanded confirmation out of AP that Tomac would be his teammate next year isn't a good look and was painful to watch (in my opinion). On the other side Matthes does the same, he literally tried to get news/goss out of Nicoletti on his own show. Pot meet kettle. Let's get over it and move on.

In regards to Grant Langston talking smack on Matthes, I actually agree with Matthes either show the proof you have (or don't have)or shut your mouth. Simple.

GL says stuff usually unfiltered. nothin wrong with that IMO. i think steve should go back to canada and try to reach the success he has here. kinda sucks that he hates on so much shit here the minute he talked politics on his public profile (twitter) i tuned him out which was years ago. hopper is a toolbox too. only one i would consider a journalist is weege. and ping is an amazing writer. very gifted IMO.
