What are the best tracks that we no longer race?

6/6/2025 6:30am

Glen Helen and Gatorback are the ones that stand out because they're still here and we could still be having nationals on them if promoters could get on the same page. Imagine what an upgrade swapping Pala for Glen Helen would be and then in a perfect world getting our 12th national back at Gatorback. Would really tie the series together.

This. They need to bring this back.

Also I came across a video of the night race they held at thunder valley. Bringing that back would be cool as hell too!

Broome for the pros. Although Kenworthy would be pretty badass too. Can't imagine the shit the current riders & bikes would have been able to do there.

Mosier for us amateur dorks.

Glen Helen. I used to race the Yamaha Dealer Series, which started the weekend after the GH national. The dirt was still deep and prepped a lot like the pro race, and Bud usually ran the same layout or close to it - hills and all. It was cool to feel like a national pro for a day - at least to ride on literally the same track!

One thing I’m glad about is they dont run southwick backwards anymore. Its always gone the same direction, I really didnt like when it went backwards for a lil bit. What other tracks did they run backwards for a time?

The ski hill tracks in Wi.  And Sugar Camp in Rhinelander,  cmj in a big valley 200 yard uphill whoops in Hixton,Wi.  Lechien raced there on his 500.

Brampton. Knockhill. Boltby.

Epic tracks used for Brit Nationals back in the dinosaur days.

Everyone who posts here would have loved to turn laps on all three .

the six flags track near Atlanta.

it was there 2 years (84 and 85?) but was never really set up as a permanent facility.

It was cool because during down time you could go into the park and hang out.

paved parking and a shuttle.

Had some killer sections and a lot of shaded wooded areas,

It would have been an awesome permanent home for the southeast national.

Does the troy facility still exist?

Glen Helen. Such a shame that it’s not in the pro mx series. The owner deeply despises the Coombs family, so I fear we will never see it again in pro mx. I hope I’m wrong on that.

Its pretty insane when you look back how many pro tracks and legendary practice tracks were in such a small area in cali. There was like 15. Its no wonder it was the epicenter of mx for so long. Too bad a lot are gone, but at least elsinore is being brought back.

Not sure but I,be been past Honda hills track in Ohio. Not sure of the history of the place I know it’s old.  The oldest speedway in the world is The Milwaukee Mile 1903 to now.  I think the Andretti,s pumped millions into the track to save it .IMG 3484 0

It was, never sure if manufacturers were their because of access to tracks or vice versa. I remember seeing Lechein at like 16 at Saddleback racing Johnson. Just crazy looking back on it. Corona was a Friday night race

The REAL Hangtown is up there with Carlsbad.

Sugar Camp was awesome. It always felt kinda weird but cool zipping along side the oncoming traffic on the freeway. Grinning
