Sexton has that KTM dialed, I mean he has never looked better on that bike nor looked better in general. I'm struggling to understand why he wants to move again, outside of him perhaps worried about KTM and the financial situation. He is my bet to win the outdoor title.

Maybe he asked for a multi year contract and KTM can't / won't do that with the issues the company currently has.

That's probably the same reason why the Cowboy only got one year.

As many above have said, I guess it's due to Job security for his career.

If KTM Austria/PMG disappeared, how would that work out for KTM NA?

I am guess that Probably a large percent of KTM NA funding comes from the market up on the units sold from importer cost to dealer cost. For example 70,000 bikes  sold at 1500$ mark up is 105,000,000$ gross revenue. Official revenue was 121,000,000$ in 2023 and with 328 employees. That's how it works at BMW NA. Parts sales add something to the bottom line along with their currency traders.

What do you judge that by? Leaving Webb behind says shit about how happy he is with bike to keep up with Jett, Tomac and even a healthy Roczen.

Everybody keeps saying he looks damn good. Half the field is gone. RC was saying Malcolm picked it up during last half of season and being on podium. Yea but wait. Jett, Tomac, Hunter, Kenny, Anderson, Tomac out. Malcolm would have been a eight place guy unless a one hit wonder occurs.

Perspective.

100% true, but the guys in Europe are the ones that OK the contracts, and now it’s more than Pit OKing them.

Every part comes from KTM Austria, and they’ve been cut off from their suppliers. They could reuse parts like Suzuki did in 2011, but do you want to ride that bike?

Redbull pays a good portion of KTM NAs payroll, that well has dried up a bit since the founder died so they have been a bit more dependent on KTM Austria for payroll.

Everything I hear, they will be ok in the long run, but if your Chase, are you gambling on it without some pretty specific guarantees, that they aren’t will to give at this time.

What can he gain? Romain Febvre would have a couple things to say...I know people have said Chase looks great but he hasn't had the comfort he is looking for I think. To be beaten straight up by CW2 at some points probably playing in his mind as that shouldn't happen.

I am one of those who believes Chase should stay at KTM.

However, to Chase's credit, he just completed an Outdoor series where he didn't have to beat prime Jett or prime Eli. He also just completed a Supercross season where he didn't have to beat prime Jett or prime Eli again. Perhaps Chase understands the level he truly needs to be at to beat a Jett Lawerence heads up and he thinks that the KTM chassis just can't do it. Chase dominating a few of these last SX rounds was against a heavily depleted field. I'm not discrediting the wins or Coop's title, but call a spade a spade here, he only had to beat one top guy and the KTM was 'good enough' to do it.

how much common sense is required to understand that without a KTM factory producing motorcycles, there is no KTM subsidiaries around the world going racing?

If KTM Austria/PMG disappeared, how would that work out for KTM NA?

If KTM/PMG disappeared, it's creditors would put it's assets, which include subsidiaries like KTM North America, up for sale.

KTM North America would have little value without a supply of bikes.

There are multiple things he’s trying to get out the bike, the main one being consistency across all terrain. He thinks the aluminum frame will get him the same feeling on different types of dirt. He also has had shock issues the entire year. I’m sure the KTM groups financial situation doesn’t help but I don’t think that’s the main reason why he’s leaving.

Why not? Just because you don’t like me doesn’t mean what I just posted sbout what is really going on at KTM is invalid. Everyone is asking why he would want to switch teams, well now they know that it isn’t all peachy there.

I think he'd be leaving regardless of KTM's financial situations, Chase is a head case and always thinks the equipment is holding him back.

Sexton definitely looks good on the KTM right now, but it seems like every week the top riders are always accidentally "finding a setting" that makes them blazing fast, so...........

The Honda was a problem for Chase. We don’t know why he’s leaving KTM. Yea he’s been vocal about the bike at times. He’s also said when the bike was good. If you’ve listened to Matthes talk about Chad Reed back in the day, now there  is a head case.

In all fairness, there may be guarantees that they can’t give at this time…?

Anyone else notice when he signs with another team he magically does better on the current "problem bike"? Its almost as if the problem is between the ears.. All the pressure is off from the current team so he just goes out and rides like he knows how. He did the same thing on Honda before he left.

Also, Chase has been rocking the backwards hat. Now, at the SLC post race conference, he had no hat on. Is that a subtle hint as to what’s in the cards for him and KTM? I know it’s been mentioned before with the hat, but can’t imagine the RB/KTM being too thrilled. Don’t know if I missed it being addressed already but something to chew on.

It's obvious Chase wants the opportunity to race the new KX 2 stroke.

Yeah, KTM is hanging on to cheap racers like Plessinger. Monster/Kawasaki is offering Sexton $3-4 million a year and KTM flat out can’t do that. They will have all kinds of legal troubles if they did that before all their books are sorted out.

At your current job, if your company is in serious financial trouble and a pretty equal competitor offers you a job for probably more money but at the worst same how many of you wouldn’t take the new offer? Let’s be honest we all would. This is literally no different. Is ktm going under? Who know maybe not but what if they do and he has to scramble for a new ride and be behind the 8 ball. It’s so weird to me people don’t understand this.

Some people are just in da Nile.

If KTM Austria ceases operations it will have a direct impact on KTM NA. I have no idea of the odds of this happening, but it's not 0%. The odds of KHI suddenly stopping is roughly 0%. Could be as simple as he rode a KX and liked it. That's enough for me.

the question I have is if KTM cant pay Chase then why all the Tomac talk? Certainly Tomac wouldn't go there either if they were "going out of business" correct?

Despite what I wrote earlier, I really think Chase's issue is mostly just the bike. He wasn't happy with it last year and that got him to considering alternatives. The stability of KTM is probably a minor factor. As good as Chase looks now he might be having second thoughts if he already signed elsewhere, or seriously considering staying if he has not signed. As for Eli, if he were to entertain a KTM contract there is likely some form of guarantee or money up front. Eli is only racing another couple years (until he changes his mind and adds more...). I still find it hard to believe Yamaha would let him get away so signing with anyone else is a stretch.

I'm just gonna say stamp it. This is exactly what's been told to me. The issue he had on the Honda is pretty honda specific an no it wasn't jett. Similar complaint  to what Kenny had. He will be fine on the kiwi and I think better.

Like I’ve said in the past, o don’t think they are going anywhere, but they may not have the resources Chase needs.

Eli has no other options, Kawasaki won’t have him back, and Ducati has said they don’t have the complete infrastructure for him quite yet.

I’m not too sure Team TLD-Red Bull-Ducati has given up on pursuing Eli and another fast guy. Troy’s motivated…and seemingly well funded, too.
